Specialties

Fenix 5 – 4 does healthy foods with over 100 beers and some spectacular wines. Healthy foods includes vegan, vegetarian, and meats that contain no nitrates or additives. We use no mayo, only veganaise in the making of our dressings. We make our soups in house and make our dressings in house. Our food is lighter, less caloric, and healthy.

We also specialize in live fresh juices make from fresh not frozen ingredients. We make date shakes with no dairy, and make smoothies with fresh fruits.

We have one of the strongest beer selections in town with 100 selections that will grow into 200 selections by the end of summer. Three of our red wines were rated 91 and 92 by wine spectator and over 70% are either dry farmed or organic.

Finally our music scene has really taken off. Our Thursday Open Mic attracts community artists… music, spoken word, with many collaborations that start based on one artist meeting another at Fenix Open Mic. Open Mic is 21 and over excepting performers.

History

Established in 2009.

Fenix 5 – 4 was built to give the Whittier community and surrounding areas a solid choice for vegans, vegetarians, and others who want to eat healthy. We believe heatlhy foods can taste good and believe that we are here to be pleasant and serve our patrons. We strive every day to improve and our good reviews are solid evidence of our efforts to serve our community. As the owner of Fenix 5 – 4, I was diagnosed with 4^th stage cancer and given a life expectancy of 2 – 3 years. Long story short, I changed my diet and I am 8 years plus alive and wanting to make every moment count. I meet people daily who have cancer, diabetes, high-​cholesterol, high blood pressure and other blood borne diseases. I believe in the power of nutrition to affect peoples lives… and believe that everyone should try juicing fresh fruits and vegetables for a healthier lifestyle. We’ll gladly share our recipes on juicing because we believe it is that critical!

Business Owner

I spent almost 20 years as V.P. of sales and marketing for a strong regional food supplier. During my tenure, I visited 1000’s of restaurants and spoke with many chefs. I witnessed businesses that struggled and business that excelled and grew. About 12 years we launched our first food service operation. Approximately 8 years ago, I was diagnosed with 4^th stage cancer. This dramatic news instilled in me a desire to create a healthy foods, community oriented café where people could gather and enjoy food options that were not previously offered.
