5 stars because the food is great. I have never had a problem so far and this is my weekly spot. The customer Service is 4 stars only because I’ve had some workers who were rude, I felt. The place is kinda small and hidden but the fish tacos are best in the area.

Like most reviewers, I was sketchy about this tiny place and never really thought of it as a viable option for lunch or dinner. After a couple of visits, I will say I was a bit hasty to judge. While it’s not the best lunch you’ll have in the area, it probably isn’t the worst. Also, if you go on the days where they have their specials, you will save some scratch. Overall, 2 stars for the fish tacos, 3 stars for the shrimp tacos, and 4 stars for the convenience of the drive through/service/price(if you go on the right day). Hence, the 3 star rating. Like most people said, the shrimp tacos are definitely better than the fish. Stick to that plan, go on Monday, and save some money. If you go on an off day and order a combo(2 tacos, a few chips, and drink), the meal will run over $ 8. Stick to the special days.

I live around the area and I’ve passed by this place a million times but have not tried it since last Wednesday to sample their fish tacos. I figured it would be the best time since it’s only a dollar on Wednesdays and for the price, I thought it was decent. I came back on a Monday for their Shrimp tacos and I liked it even better than the fish tacos. I definitely enjoyed it! The only issue I have is that the parking is really tight. So if you have a huge vehicle, you might have a hard time. ***Whoops! Sorry, this review is for the Downey location.

Used to come here alot for the shrimp cevivhe tosadas. The last few times i came in, the tostadas are loaded with tomatoes and oninons. VERYLITTLESHRIMP. They’re like 3.50 a piece. You pay for tomatoes & onions on a tostada basically

Mainly come here for the daily specials and convenience of being near my house. Food is okay but have had better in almost all other places(baja tacos) I’ve tried. I suggest you call your order ahead of time unless you want to wait a minimum of 15 minutes in the drive thru. No lie.

Shrimp ceviche was bland. Hardly any flavor other than the onion and slight lemon juice. I have a feeling the shrimps were boiled then added to the ceviche, as opposed to letting the raw ingredients cook in the citrus. This was gravely dissapointing. Where was the«chile» in my aguachile verde? I wanted to tear up like i just saw the lion king after eating the first tostada, instead I just had a bewildered look on my face. It wasn’t even«verde» to boot. It was almost the same color as the shrimp ceviche, I was barely able to discern the difference. I have a feeling I should have tried another item on the menu. I’ll come back but it won’t be for the ceviche that’s for darned sure. There are a few better choices(and less expensive choices I might add) around this place when it comes to ceviche.

Paid $ 10.99 for small shrimp cocktail fish taco chips and drink. Sounds like a great deal right… fish was not fresh tasted like it had been reheated. Was given a handful of stale chips. Just a few shrimp floating around my cocktail. Had a craving may not be back.

I love this place. The shrimp cocktails are delicious, the ceviche is really good too. The shrimp and fish tacos are good, but I rarely get them because the shrimp cocktail is so good. The service is friendly, all in all it’s a great place to get a quick bite. Only downside is the $ 10 minimum on debit.

Shrimp burrito is very good… service sucks!!! You have to spend $ 10 to use your ATMCARD!!! How absurd is that… REALLY??? I have been told on two separate occasions that they ran out of tortillas and another time no shrimp… WTF??? They need to break out the mustard so they can catch up… this is 2013 not 1998… get a grip

My boyfriend and I always come here every Tuesday and Thursday after our classes end at Rio. We always order the same thing each day, as each weekday has their allotted«special»: Tuesdays, we order fish tacos(99 cents all day!). They are soooo delicious and never disappoint our rumbly tummies. Thursdays, we order Fish ceviche(99 cents per tostada!). This ceviche is the best tasting ceviche I’ve had in the area. Very acidic, seasoned perfectly, and lots and lots of fish. They also offer crab ceviche for 99 cents, but we never order it because I get a horrible allergic reaction to imitation crab. El 7 Mares always satisfies my craving for fish tacos and ceviche, and I definitely take advantage of their daily specials. Will definitely continue to be a loyal costumer for a long time.

Place is a tad ghetto but the food was cheap and ok. No bathrooms and the majority of the menu is Mexican seafood. The carne asada tacos I had were a little disappointing because the meat had a lot of chewy and fatty pieces. I will admit I shouldn’t have had meat at a seafood place and I am picky on my meat.

I usually love the shrimp and fish tacos from the 7 Mares location in East LA but this location had a slightly different presentation. The tacos from other 7 Mares establishments are usually served piping hot and with generous toppings of cabbage, crema, limes, etc. I stopped by for a quick bite around noon on a weekday and I was the only customer. The limes were dry and there were not any salsas available to use on my tacos. I ordered two fish tacos and one shrimp taco. The tacos seemed way smaller than other 7 mares locations. The shrimp taco was definitely tasty, however the texture was way off. The shrimp and fish were not freshly fried. They were rubbery and you could tell that they were fried before hand and reheated. I was really hungry so I definitely ate all three of them! I wish they were as generous and tasty as the fish/shrimp tacos I’m used to eating at the other location. If I’m ever nearby and reallllllly hungry I would definitely come back, otherwise I’d steer clear of this location. Also, if you don’t have cash, you might want to skip this place. They enforce a $ 10 minimum purchase to use your debit/credit card, which is kinda difficult if you’re eating solo considering daily specials have tacos from 99 cents to 1.19.

I’m a fan of the 7 Mares Express restaurants because of their quick service and good deals. I went to check this spot out because I heard that unlike other express chains that only have specials 1 or 2 times a week they have them Mon-Fri. I went on Wednesday when they have the shrimp crispy tacos special, I also tried their ceviche and fish taco and I gotta say I’ve tasted better like at the 7 Mares Express in Downey off Paramount Blvd where their food tasted fresher and not as salty. I guess they’re ok if you are in a hurry or on a budget. Even though other places do have better quality for around the same quantity like Mariscos El Jato or Mariscos 4 Vientos. Don’t think I’ll be returning, I rather go a little farther and get something worth the drive.

I was a little leery about trying this place because it doesn’t look like a place that I’d want to get seafood from. The thing that kept me wanting to try it was the grips of people that are always eating there. If it was nasty, why would there always be people eating there? I happened to be doing some loads of laundry at Laundroland and had time to try it out. I ordered a Taco Combo that had two fish tacos, chips, a roasted jalapeño, and a drink. I was pleasantly surprised. The fish was crunchy and very flavorful. The salsa was tasty and complemented the fish and its toppings. I can’t wait to go back and try their ceviche and cocteles because I saw how good everything looked when I was there. The price is also very reasonable. Definitely going to make this«a spot.»

This is def a spot if your into Mariscos(seafood). Its a small shack style stand with a drive thru and a few benches to sit and eat. if you get the fat lady at the window she can be mean, but the rest of the attendants are very friendly. its fast service considering its only one cook and one cashier. they have Great daily 99 cent specials. STAY away from the salmon tacos! its located on the corner with Stuft Pizza and the laundry mat. i usually go do my laundry and pig out on fish or shrimp tacos which ever is the deal of the day.
