Well since my last post this place has consistently gone down hill. All the original wait staff and cooks have moved on or were fired. The prices have gone up and portions have shrunk along with the quality of service. Myself and several family members no long frequent this establishment.

Disappointing. We were in the market for a Detroit ConeyDog. NOT a true coney served here — the chili is chili, not coney sauce. DD did NOT think this was a Kowalski dog. Said it was«gross». In true hungry-kid fashion, she ate it, anyway. Also, prices are steep for a coney island. Dogs don’t come with fries. Fries need work; they are unspectacular crinkle cuts(though ours were cooked well). Kids meals are 5 $. No combo meal options. Service was super-friendly.Stars are for clean restaurant and nice server.

I brought two 6 year old girls here, figuring that you can’t go wrong with coney food AND ice cream. Between the three of us, we ordered sliders, chicken fingers, fries and onion rings. I can’t comment on how tasty the chicken tenders were, but they appeared meaty and the 6 year old consuming the chicken tenders had no complaints. The fries definitely could use some work, as they were undercooked and lacked in taste. The sliders and onion rings, however made up for the fries. The sliders were hot, fresh and tasty and the onion rings were meaty, with a light, crispy breading, similar to my favorite onion rings ever at Senate in Livonia and Northville. The girls ordered scoops of Anniversary Cake and Cotton Candy for dessert, which from the looks of their messy faces, was the perfect ending to all that greasy goodness they consumed prior. I must also mention how accommodating the service was to two little girls having a great time ordering three samples of ice cream before finally settling on Anniversary Cake and Cotton Candy… :) Thanks, Whitmore Coney Island!

Aren’t small towns supposed to be friendly? I just moved to Whitmore lake last month and figured I would try some local food. What a terrible idea it turned out to be. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant ever before. Waitstaff was extremely unwelcoming to us and seemed to not want to take care of us because we appeared to not be from the area. The food was subpar and the interior is falling apart… I assure you that I will never return.

We made a good find on a short afternoon motorcycle ride and stopped in at the Whitmore Lake Coney Island. It’s attached to a small bowling alley. It’s a nice little Coney Island with a slight view of Whitmore Lake. They have the good solid Coneys and Fries and a Good Daily Special which can vary from a unique sandwich combo to a Coney or Slider combo as well. Good friendly attentive service and a cook who will try to make you anything within reason. They also have a small ice cream bar to help you with a desert choice. I can go 4 stars for effort and ambience. I’ll be back… in the Spring!
