First two times I ordered from here I got the chicken parm sandwich and I really liked it. The third time I decided to try a cheese pizza. I have to say it was horrible. I wouldn’t order again.

Thanks for your response Uncle David. I think in todays technology driven age a restaurant of any type needs to have a website and a menu available online. I know you were just getting started and I apologize for the harsh review just based on the menu not being online. I have been to your website and the only suggestion would be to have your address and phone number on every page of the site to make it easier to order. I order here often and the food is always fresh and tasty. Keep up the good work.

Uncle David is one of the nicest guys out there! We even got his autograph :). The uncle David burger was awesome(made just right) and fresh, the fries are sooooo good, more importantly– the mozz– to die for! We were around this area to see my brother in law, so why not look for a great burger place as well? Yes, I am on a mission for awesome burgers. This is a great place in the south shore, uncle David and the family are super nice. We will be back! Thank you uncle David and family, you guys are super sweet.

Uncle David’s mixes flavors creatively and understands that quality ingredients are needed for 5 star food. The burgers are some of the best I’ve had on the South Shore, but really love both the Turkey Kuffta and Asian Pork — both full of deliciousness. Good fries and I’m also loving the onion petals — perfectly crispy. Place is clean and staff is always friendly. In fact, David seems to be there any time I’ve been in — you can tell he really cares about the food and keeping his customers happy.

Best subs around, highly recommend the Italian. Pizza I had once and it’s nothing to write home about. Good service and very clean establishment.

Wow. This is my first visit, spurred on by a recent Phantom Gourmet show(I don’t take Phantom’s word on how good a place is till I check it out) — with my wife. I ordered a hot dog, Reuben sandwich & the Onion Petals; my wife got a burger. Well, that hot dog was one of the best I’ve ever had — and I’ve had dogs all over this country, including Chicago dogs recently. Great flavour — meaty and buttery, cooked to perfection. The Reuben was also scrumptious — tangy & sour, with lots of meat. Not the best I’ve ever had(Roundabout Café in Portsmouth, NH, currently holds that spot for me), but way above average. The onion petals were so so. Nice change from the typical onion rings, but I was not wowed. Definitely plan on coming back here.

So was visiting my Dad & we were talking Food Challenges & all those shows about the guy who eats like 100 chicken wings in 10 mins or 75 lbs of meat… He told me about Uncle Davids & how he has the best burger but when he goes there he only eats Hot Dogs, Who knows?!? Youd just have to know my Dad! So we figured while we were in the area we would go check them out. So the BF goes in & orders his usual Burger with Bacon/Cheese, Maybe Ketchup hes very plain when it comes to his burgers, whereas I want a whole salad on mine! He also got fries. About 10 minutes later he came out(we stayed in car as I had a sleeping baby) Said David(at least he thinks it was David) was really nice & customer friendly. He told me it was $ 15 and was like Whoa, $ 15 for Burger & Fries and then he began to eat it & said it was DEFINITELY worth the $ 15, However, the fries he didnt eat — they were fresh cut fries kinda like the ones at Five Guys and he doesnt like them like that, he likes OVER cooked crispy fries &OMG These looked like just my kind of Fry but unfortunately at the moment Im unable to eat them so I will have to wait until another time. Def worth the stop & might stop back in again when visiting Dad!

My sister and brother in law live in Whitman so a while back I found Uncle David’s and decided to grab something on the way over one day. I think I got a steak bomb(I should’ve written a review a while ago!) and really enjoyed it. My sister/BIL have been back since and gotten the s’mores pizza and raved highly about that as well.

So we were in town for a competition at the high school today. Needed a place for the 8 of us to grab dinner without breaking the bank or spending hours eating before heading home. Well, this was the place to go. Uncle David and his crew welcomed us in. We asked him what was good and he mentioned a few things. We got a pizza, wings, fresh cut fries, burgers and the Buffalo kick sandwich. What can I say other than everything was phenomenal! The crew was also superb and even chatted with us about my daughter’s first place finish in the competition! This place was great and if I am ever in the area again, I might just go out of my way to come back!

Peanut Butter Pie is to die for! AMAZING! The fries are really good, however soggy. My new favorite place!

Maybe there are other items that rate high, however stay away from the pizza! Looks nothing like the pictures their WEB page, certainly not worth the $ 20 we paid for 2 pizzas! The crust was bland and chalky, the sauce appeared to be just tomato paste, the meat and vegetables were finely chopped up with way to much sauce, almost no chesses. Looking at the other reviews, it appears the Pizza is not on par with their other offerings.

Great burgers. And delicious pizza. Chicken fingers not so much. But if your looking for a hangover cure the burgers are the way to go.

I have no problem waiting for food as long as it’s worth it, and my Philly cheesesteak was totally worth it. And David was super nice, talkative and kept me company. At 4 months pregnant I was convinced I’d have to make the 6 hour long drive to Philly to satisfy my Philly Cheesesteak craving(I lived 45 minutes outside of the city for 4 years and was a frequent Geno’s patron) but low and behold, I discovered a gem mere minutes down the road from my house. It’s a little pricey, but I’m a firm believer that you get what you pay for and the Boar’s Head meat makes all the difference.

Went to uncle David’s based on Unilocal reviews and phantom gourmet… well it was awful. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and my boyfriend ordered a calzone with some veggies and pepperoni. My sandwich was more like a blue cheese soup with pieces of chicken and bread, totally gross that even my boyfriend had issues eating it and he eats just about anything. So then I figured id have some of his calzone cause who can fuck up a calzone right? It just had this weird after taste And was not good at all. Definitely a disappointing visit.

Best sandwich shop in Whitman… maybe beyond! I love the Buff Chick Murphy sandwich or the Goober Burger. The chicken tenders are made from fresh chicken(not the deep fried frozen ones you get other places) and the french fries are hand cut. Save room for dessert and make sure you try the Peanut Butter Pie!

Maybe we should have gotten sandwiches or burgers instead… Ordered a pizza and some wings for takeout on a busy Friday night. Neither was even close to worth the 15 minute ride we took to Uncle David’s based on the Unilocal reviews. The pizza: crust was a bit dry, definitely over-floured. I don’t want to pick up a slice of pizza and see a noticeable coating of white flour dust all over it. The outer edge of the crust was chewy without being crispy, and more than a little stiff. The sauce was good but not great, with the right amount. Cheese and toppings were nicely done as well, but the crust dragged the pie down. The wings… well, I asked for buffalo, and if that was a buffalo sauce, then I’ve never had buffalo sauce in my life. I suspect that the wrong sauce got put on them, something I could forgive on a busy Friday night… IF the sauce had been decent. I think it was supposed to be a sweet sauce, but couldn’t really tell because it was almost totally flavorless. The only way we were able to eat the wings was by dipping them in some sweet Asian chili sauce we had in the fridge. I’ll forgive the sogginess of the wings as the risk of getting wings to go, but flavorless sauce? Nope. All in all, maybe Uncle David’s sandwiches and burgers are better than their pizza and wings, and if we’re ever in there again, maybe we’ll give those a shot, but based on last night’s experience, it’s unlikely we’ll make a trip down Route 18 specifically to go there again.

When you first walk into Uncle David’s, you may not be expecting much. Similar in both size and layout to a typical pizza and sub shop. Few tables. Counter. Soda and beverage refrigerators. Potato chip rack. Although, while it’s similar in size and layout, in exceeds in cleanliness and orderliness. Everything was very clean and kept very neat in the front area. But once you take a look at the chalkboard menu, you realize right away this ain’t your typical neighborhood sub shop. Lots of tempting burgers and sandwiches, and from the descriptions and ingredients of each, you realize the owner has put a lot of care and passion into creating these delicious sandwiches and burgers. My personal favorite is the sweet Italian sausage burger. As you may expect, rather than a burger patty they use a sweet Italian sausage patty. It’s topped with freshly chopped grilled peppers and onions and an Italian relish sauce that is out of this world! Such a delicious sandwich! I love the fries as well… also freshly cut, and seasoned just right! Everyone in the place were very friendly, including the woman at the counter and Uncle David himself, both who took the time to ask me how everything was and to chat me up a bit. Definitely a hidden gem in the little town of Whitman!

We’d been talking about checking out Uncle David’s for a couple weeks after seeing all the reviews on Unilocal. So, we made our way down Route 18 all the way to Whitman with high expectations. From the outside UD’s is similar to a brothers roast beef type of location. Small and geared toward takeout. It’s in a small shopping plaza that it just shares with Tedeschi. The staff were friendly and busy at work when we walked in. The menu sits above written out on chalkboards. They also have a couple coolers of drinks and bags of chips for sale. I ordered the Dave’s Deeyah which is a quesadilla with beef, pepperoni, peppers onions and cheese. It was pretty good but could have benefited from some sauce on it or that it comes with for dipping. My wife had the Bacon Cheeseburger and she enjoyed it. We shared an order of the large fries, which was more like a small/medium at brothers. Overall, the food was good. It’s quick, and they’ve got some interesting sandwiches and burger combinations. I’m sure we’ll be back to try out more choices.
