Freaking phenomenal. Small deli putting out huge huge food. Daily specials including sausage, chicken, pork, stuffed cabbage, etc. Dinner plates come with your choice of two of their at least eight stellar sides; Mac n cheese and Cole slaw rocked the socks off for sure. Over ten varieties of pierogies, ranging from $ 6-$ 9 a dozen. Flash-fried and finished in the flat top, they’re some of the best I’ve had. Worth every penny if you’re in the area.

Stopped here on a whim looking for pierogi’s in Whiting and we were not disappointed! Jesus was gracious and welcoming, starting us off with a delicious free sample of galumpkis(cabbage rolls) and dumplings. We then ordered an assortment of pierogi’s and they were the best we have ever eaten! They were cooked to order, fresh and delicious! Crispy on the outside with delicious fillings! We had potato & cheddar, sweet cheese, plum, mushroom, and spinach! OMG — good! Jesus came to this country and learned to cook Polish food like he was born in Poland. My only regret is that we didn’t buy more to bring home. Do not be put off by the humble seating area. The place is clean and comfortable and all about the food — not ambience. If you are ever anywhere near Whiting stop in and have Jesus make you some pierogi’s! Your tummy will be happy!

The best pierogis in pierogi city(whiting). Have always been impressed with the spinach, potato/cheddar, and kraut/mushroom especially. Jesus is a cool guy and the lunch specials are a great deal!

The food was all VERY bland, and tasteless. It reminded me of hospital food. I was really hoping they’d have good pierogies, but they too were quite bland, not to mention rather expensive for how small they were. The inside of this restaurant DESPERATELY needs a makeover too, and it’s quite an unappetizing sight to behold. The people seemed quite nice, but unfortunately, that’s simply not enough to get me to come back.

If it’s home made cooking and home made flavor you’re after, this is the place. Their every day specials are a bargain, and every item is absolutely delicious! and quite the value. Their specialties are very hard to find anywhere else, like halupki, stuffed cabbage, stuffed green peppers, meatloaf, fried chicken.

This place may well be the most spartan restaurant I’ve ever been in. There were 4 tables. They sell pierogies for $ 0.65 each. I tried a couple each of the potato and sweet cheese, potato and cheddar, and sauerkraut with mushroom. It took about 10 minutes for the order to be prepared. They were ok, but I really have no frame of reference on pierogi goodness. They don’t offer tap water here. If you want water, it has to be bottled water.

As hard as it may be to believe, some of the best eastern european food I have ever ate, at a very reasonable price, is made by a fellow named Jesus Alvarez! His haluski, pierogis, stuffed green peppers and side dishes are all made there and he does a great job! Co-workers I have taken there have thanked me for the experience. Now, his halupki leans toward the German side, but is still quite delicious. And the portions you get for the money? Let’s put it this way: I don’t go there for lunch if I know I’m going to have to do heavy labor in the afternoon. All I want is a nap after the size of the meal you get! Highly recommended!
