Valley Central Veterinary Referral Center and Valley Central Emergency Hospital have now merged to create Valley Central Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center (VCVREC). Now two leaders in veterinary care of the Lehigh Valley have united and as one entity under the direction of Dr. Ronald Hodges and Dr. Carlos Hodges. VCVREC is committed to the goal of providing exceptional specialty and emergency care for your clients just as it has been since we first opened our doors in 1996 as a referral practice. While we will continue to offer expertise in the field of specialty medicine and surgery, we are pleased to include emergency veterinary medical care as a specialty discipline to help meet the needs of your clients 24 hours a day.

Since we opened our doors in 1996, our mission has been to provide every patient with high quality, specialized, and compassionate care. Our state-​of-​the-​art facility is fully equipped with advanced diagnostic technologies. We are a team of dedicated specialists and support staff. Our team of experts provides services in Acupuncture, Behavioral Therapy, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine Internal Medicine, Nuclear Medicine, Oncology, Ophthalmology, and Surgery.

Meet the Business Owner

Carlos H.

Business Owner

Dr. Carlos Hodges is an owner and surgeon at Valley Central Veterinary Referral Center and has been caring for pets in the Lehigh Valley area since 1996.

Dr. Hodges comes from a family of veterinarians. His father is a retired general practitioner in Philadelphia and he works with his brother, a veterinary internist. Dr. Hodges graduated from Tuskegee University, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. He completed a one-​year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery from 1985 – 86. Dr. Hodges completed a one-​year fellowship in surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, completing a research project in veterinary dentistry under the guidance of Dr. Colin Harvey. Dr. Hodges completed a surgical residency at Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine from 1987 – 90. His research was in chylothorax under the guidance of Dr. Terry Fossum. In 1990, Dr. Hodges accepted an appointment as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Orthopedics a
