We are the Harbor View Grille. We are a cook from scratch restaurant specializing in fresh and local ingredients when ever possible. We have partnered with many of the local farmers and are proud to present the fruits of their labor in an eye appealing and pleasing manner.

Sundays

This is the day for Emil & Alice to cook together and to present a comforting home style meal made from scratch. They get in early to bake the bread and make the soup. Potatoes are put on the stove for mashed and the meat is seasoned and roasted. Gravy is made from stock and then finished with the pan drippings. No meal is complete with out dessert for only $ 8.95 We appreciate your business!

Fantastic menu, good atmosphere, nice view out surrounding windows, great service, food was impeccably delicious.
The menu includes daily specials. The salads are large and well put together. The ingredients are fresh and diverse. The clam chowder is like none other, very full of clams, creamy and delicious.
The service was impeccable, plates were cleared, beverages kept full without constant interuption.

I have no idea why this place is well reviewed. we chose this restaurant to meet with family for Sunday dinner and to visit. From the way the server rushed us through ordering, to the missing items from our plates, i would have rated it fair at best. However, as we were sitting on the deck with our drinks and visiting, the hostess came out and informed us our table was needed for other guests. Given the fact that there were empty tables both outside and inside, we were shocked!
There are too many good options in Whitehall for us to ever consider returning to this restaurant.

We went on a Saturday night for dinner here. We had a 15 min wait. It’s kinda tight inside.
Everything was good. My hubby had pork chops and they were great. They tasted like they were cooked on charcoal grill. A very great grilled taste. I had the fish n chips. Very good, not greasy. They had homemade bread, it was good and soft.

Pretty good. Fish and chips were good proportions but batter fell off the fish. Kids had burger and spaghetti and no complaints. Good atmosphere. Reasonable price. Not sure I’d go again if ever back in town but if I was within 5 miles I would go.

Great views of the harbor! The fried asparagus was delicious and the Michigan black bean burger was excellent. All the food was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. The area is absolutely picturesque, which makes the solid dining experience so much better.

Good food and good service. We were in town for a long weekend for a wedding. Harbor View definitely had the best food of all the places we tried (and we tried a few). The fish and chips were on point, as was the clam chowder. The fresh bread is good too. I am blown away by people complaining about it being expensive, but then again, I live in CA so food in the Midwest/​North is always surprisingly LESS expensive to me. If I was back in the area I would certainly return to the Harbor View Grill.

Just finished eating my last meal here at Harbor View Grill. Which really makes me sad. My meal was as wonderful as usual, but one of my companions, ordering the same meal she always orders. This time, it was both too salty and overly spicy. The waiter said he had to ask the manager what to do. She came over and asked what we wanted her to do, then said she had to ask the chef/​owner. They sent the poor waiter back out to say «we don’t GIVE discounts.» My companion said she didn’t intend to pay for an unsatisfactory meal, and THEN the chef came out to argue the quality of food more than one person of the six at our table had tasted. The he changed tactic, and said she’d eaten MOST of her meal, which was patently untrue. He told another member of our party he was calling the police. So, beware fellow diners, if you have a bad experience at the Harbor View Grill, you will pay, or be threatened with frivolous prosecution.

I went here with my family for lunch today. Party of 11. Everything was excellent!!! We had the corn and bean patties, jambalaya, BBQ chicken flatbread. Large portions. Lots of variety on the menu– including lots of vegetarian options. We sat outside on the north side of the building. Great view!

My husband and I came in from out of town for the weekend, and noticed there were limited options for dinner here. Out of the mix, we chose Harbor View Grille because it looked like a nice place to have dinner.
We arrived around dinnertime Friday, so we expected a wait. But there was nowhere to stand at all. It seemed like everyone who was eating dinner wasn’t enjoying themselves at all, just weird vibes. The décor was just a little odd, not what I expected from the reviews I read.
The food. Oh the «fresh» food. I ordered a salad that tasted like it came straight out of a bag. And for our budget, it was not worth what we paid.
I would recommend checking out the other places you can find in the area, or even ordering a pizza. Probably a better deal.

Local favorite with a wide ranging menu and some interesting specials (which we forgot to inquire about and the waitress forgot to tell us). If you can get to the windows on the north, there is a nice view to be had and the staff was very friendly and attentive.
This is not «fine dining» but that’s not what they are trying to deliver. Overall it’s not a bad place to eat and the prices were reasonable — we’ll be back.

Had the Slim Jim, spouse had the bbq chicken flatbread and children had the fried shrimp and chicken baskets respectively. Thanks for reminding me thst meals sre supposed to be flavorful from fresh ingredients. Onion rongs sre fabulous! Cole dlaw was good as well, but needed to be a bit colder. Trying the blueberry bread pudding. Service was the best we have had in West Central Michigan this week.

Sitting on the deck with a glass of wine at sunset is a slice of heaven:)
My husband had the fish and chips and declared the fish awesome while the chips (fries) were average/​good.
I had the Parthenon flatbread which was good but salty because of the olives.
For dessert we each had the bread pudding, which changes with the seasons. Currently, the fall flavor is apples and pecans. This was amazingly good and decadent, we were sorry once our plates were empty.

Enjoyed the food (three cheers for their cod sandwich) but couldn’t shake my disappointment with their arbitrarily strict enforcement of the patio hours. In case you are hoping to enjoy the best view in Whitehall, be sure to arrive at least a half hour before closing (which is when they stop seating for the patio) and not a minute after.

We visited on the Fourth of July, very good my wife had shrimp and artichoke pasta dish. I had the loaded burger, with onion rings. The bread on the burger was home made along with the bread basket before the meal. Very big portions

Two Mediterranean salads one with grilled chicken one without. Awesome. As big as your head if not bigger. Sat on the deck taking the water in… decent ice tea. Attentive service. My only ask was salmon over the chicken but they didn’t have that day. $ 30 out the door for lunch. Well worth it.

Good food good price and well sized portions the perch is some of the best perch I had.
