History

Established in 2006.

Granny Schmidt’s opened in 2006 to bring best-in-class bakery products to customers who enjoy the marriage of high style and century old goodness. We don’t produce cakes by adding flavorings to factory supplied base mixes. We make every cake from scratch, often one at a time, using nothing you wouldn’t have found at the corner grocery store a hundred years ago. We originally were located in Schnecksville after 1 year moved to the original farm Granny Schmidt lived on in Emmaus. Outgrowing that space we are now located in our large showroom in Whitehall, PA

Meet the Business Owner

MIchelle Q.

Business Owner

Being the owner of one of the most prominent bake shops in the Lehigh Valley, Michelle literally grew up in the sewing room of Bridals by Rich Mar watching her grandmother, Rose, do alterations on wedding gowns. Building on that childhood exposure to the bridal business, she eventually became the Assistant to the Owner of Jon’s Bridal in Trexlertown.

In 2005, she became the personal assistant to Art Schmidt Jr., owner of the former Farmhouse Restaurant in Emmaus. As she outgrew that position and yearned to return to the bridal industry, along came an opportunity to open a bakeshop and Granny Schmidt’s was born.

Granny Schmidt’s cakes have participated in the City of Hope Cake Competition (winning in 2009), Angel 34 Wine & Chocolate, as well as B104’s Cake Dive Competition, and have been featured in Lehigh Valley Style Magazine, winning Best Special Occasion Cake for 2014 by over 2000 readers. We have won Top Pastry Chef 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012 for March of Dimes.
