Paper plates and plastic utensils paired with great food and very friendly owners. We were driving home to Philly from Boston and randomly chose Ambadi on «the google» — so glad we stopped in: it was a great meal late on a Sunday night.

We’ve been getting food delivered from Ambadi almost weekly for the past few months. The food is really good. We mainly order tandoori chicken and mixed grill. along with bhangan bharta. We usually get some naan and a side of spicy mango pickles. The food is really good and the prices are excellent. They almost always deliver more quickly than their estimate. We need to explore the menu in more depth, but it’s very good.

I would probably rate this place a 4 star if it were appropriately priced. The prices here AREMOREEXPENSIVE than those in the city, with full on table service and traditional décor. And the places in Manhattan/Brooklyn will throw in some naan and an app for 15 dollars. $ 28 for 2 take away meals? This is nuts. And the portions are small despite the big containers. And underspiced. The either need to lower the price to match expectations or upgrade the décor/service.

I recently stumbled into Ambadi on my lunch break, and I must say I’m glad I did. Don’t be scared off by its humble, hole-in-the-wall appearance, this place is legit. The people behind the counter are courteous, although not the quickest. The food, however, if phenomenal, and the portions they serve are great. Recently I’ve have the chicken tikka masala lunch special, as well as curried vegetables, saag paneer, and naan, all served with heaping amounts of white rice. If you want good Indian food in White Plains with no frills, this is your spot.

Love chicken tikka masala n kashmiri chicken. Best for take out. Portion size is good as compare to other restaurants.

Really a take out place. Feels over priced when you combine the so-so Indian food.

Ordered for the first time tonight. I think I’ve found my new go-to! Chicken tikka masala is excellent, as were my samosas. The combination platter is a great deal and even includes a drink and a little sweet dessert. Nice sized portions. I can’t wait to try their lunches! Don’t be deterred by the ambience/décor. It may look like a hole-in-the-wall, but it’s about the quality of the food. You will not be disappointed.

For the one thing… you CANNOT eat here. We came with this intention and were horrified to see the place. WTF!!! Why didn’t anyone mention this detail here on Unilocal? It looks like a toilet. So…absolutely STARVING at this point, we over ordered and had take-out. got it home and ate. The food is by no means as good as the other Indians in the area. All the vegetables ground to within an inch of their lives in the appetizers and no fenugreek in the spinach. The tikka underspiced as well.. Some places throw in Naan. not here and we ordered four orders. $ 100.00 later we weren’t happy. Much better places elsewhere.

Fantastic Indian food. Great service This is a great place to catch a quick lunch, as they have multiple options. Everything from basic chicken tikka to vindaloo wings. Flavor is spot on and really leaves you wanting to come back. Very reasonable prices for the area. Customer service has always been great too. The guys there are very friendly and answer any questions you have. Sometimes they give you samples too! Worth checking out if you’re in the area

I’m a big fan of this place, have been coming here for years. My personal favorites are the Kerala style goat curry and the Honey Vindaloo wings. The lunch specials are good, and great price for the area. Everything else in downtown WP is overpriced and overrated from what I’ve found. Compared to other similarly priced indian casual restaurants in the area, this is my favorite. Masala Kraft is really inconsistent(and only vegetarian obviously), the place in Ardsley(calcutta wrap i think?) was not good at all, no flavor

Outstanding dishes: Chicken Kashmiri Malai Kebab(bonus… its low calorie) Naan bread, and omg… those french fries. So delicious. Also, Raita, Dingri Mutter. The last three order were placed online through GrubHub and we had the food delivered to us locally. The delivery speed, on weekday evenings, have been incredibly fast. Today it it was delivered in 25 minutes minutes. and the food was nice and hot. The delivery guys are always great, too. The portions are pretty generous. Two Kashmiri meals typically feeds three people.

I have been frequenting this place for four years. Their saag paneer is my favorite out of all the Indian food restaurants I’ve tried(throughout Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey.) Mostly a take out place, but their lunch specials are great. Sad to be moving away.

Ordered delivery: Keema Samosa, Dal Tadka, Chicken Biriyani. Dinner arrived well under the 45 promised minutes. It’s sad to report that Keema Samosa were good and were the best part of dinner. Dal Tadka was too thin, but that’s okay. The problem was the lack of flavor. Barely any ginger, and not a hint of mustard seed. Flavorless :-( The Chicken Biriyani was a mystery: broken grains of rice with massive amounts of red food coloring. Not appealing at all. On the other hand: it was topped with a couple tablespoons of nicely fried onions, plenty of fresh cilantro, a lemon wedge, a few almond slices, and plenty of chicken(both white and dark meat, no bones). I even found a whole cardamom pod. Regrettably, no other whole spices. Dear Chef: you are showing me all the ingredients, so why not go ahead and make Chicken Biriyani instead of this fried rice mixture? This is not Chicken Biriyani.

I am so confused by the other ratings. This was by far the worst food I have ever had in an indian restaurant. The chicken samosas were gritty, dry and bland. The rice was oily and flavorless. THe chicken vindaloo was a hot mess… greasy, dry chicken floating in an overly spicy greasy hot mess that was so spicy you couldn’t taste anything but heat. The cauliflower pakora did not taste fresh — they were rubbery and tasted like they had been in the fridge for a few days and reheated. Even the sauces were lackluster and under-salted. I just cannot recommend this place. I have tried other places in the area and they are far, far, far better.

My favorite indian spot. My favorite dish is the butter chicken served on friday for lunch special. The special is reasonable just under $ 10. The food is flavorful.

Excellent Indian food. Mostly designed for the takeout experience, there are still a few tables available if you want to eat in. If you enjoyed the food at Bengal Tiger(no longer in existence), you’ll probably enjoy Ambadi. The Chicken Curry is tender and perfectly flavored, and the their other dishes are great as well. If you’re looking for ambiance, you’ll have to look elsewhere, but if you want good Indian eats — check it out.

I had ordered a few times from Ambadi and didn’t have a problem with them until just recently. The food itself is flavorful but definitely not the best I’ve had, but I won’t hold that against them since it’s my personal opinion. I will hold them accountable for the sheer amount of bone and other items that I found in my food, which I unfortunately can’t excuse. There is nothing more disconcerting than biting into Chicken Korma and having a large portion of the piece be bone and cartilage. It’s happened two or three times and I have to say has turned me off of ordering from them in the future.

The prices for lunch are really good. And the food is very good, the deserts are pretty good. However, the prices for dinner are awful. No, no, no. What I get in Zafran for $ 13 would cost over $ 20 here. The food is also different than Zafran, as they use more traditional Ghee than oils. It’d be five stars-though I prefer Zafran on flavoring-if their prices were just a bit lower. Its only affordable if you compare it to Bengal Tiger. You can more cheaply eat dinner… pretty much everywhere else that’s take out.

Have friends that are locals here… so I stopped in. The place doesn’t look like much from the outside because it’s along a strip of other stores and business. but the food is great. It tastes like food from a high-end place, but with affordable prices and great service. The owners are good people… honest, and care that you are satisfied with their service. I will definitely be returning.

I have gotten the lunch special a few times. The food is great, a large size portion of Chicken Mahkani, Rice, Cauliflower, Naan. is $ 6.95 during the lunch special from 11:30am — 3pm. You are in and out the door for take out in a few minutes at most. The ambiance does not lend to a fancy restaurant, for that you can go across the street to Bengal. But the food is authentic Indian cuisine and the prices cannot be beat. The takeout lunch also comes with a handy reusable 3 compartment container.: ^)
