Spending time in the Catskills, looking for that summer respite and possibly a cabin away from home, I had stocked up at home base for the trip, packed the car and left my choice wines on the dining table. Dummkopf! I found in the White Lake Liquor Store a neat little shop with a selection of wines broad enough to save the day, or evening rather, for guests we expect in the coming days. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, a Vouvrey Chenin Blanc blend? Local hard ciders? Found them all, along with a nice Malbec. French, Argentine, Spanish, Italian, Aussie, and local selections, of course, are to be found here. There is even a Kosher section. I drink little of the hard stuff but it’s here as well in a decent variety. Bacardi Mojito and other premixed favorites can also be found here. Jaded New Yorker that I am, it’s nice to find a decently stocked wine shop this far from home.

Easy in, easy out, no problem at all finding and buying that bottle of Yellowtail we always pick up as a hostess gift.
