People seem to love this spot, I don’t get it. A very strange atmosphere, not appropriate for kids in my opinion. It just feels old and out if place considering your in Morris County. We ordered chili and it was very greasy, but taste and appearance wise it seemed like it came from a can. No, I would bit recommend this spot.

Billy’s is eccentric and awesome. Highly recommend this place. The bar tender Julie is awesome!

We went to Billy’s to celebrate my wife’s birthday. As others have noted it’s a Fishermens styled restaurant with crap on the walls from ceiling to floor. First the good. I loved the Decour. I ordered the blackened fish of the day that came with spinach and brown rice. The fish was delicious. I also loved that there was a bowl of pickles on the table which I love. Now the not so good. While the fish was very good and the portion was big, the spinach was under seasoned but that in and of itself isn’t such a bad thing. What really bothered me in addition to the server who spent more time on her make up, lipstick, and low cut blouse than she did on learning her trade, was that I ordered the«lobster bisque». This wasn’t a lobster bisque, it was a potato chowder with artificial crabmeat. It tasted fine but it wasn’t a seven dollar bowl of lobster bisque. There was no lobster to be found in that bowl of soup. I also found it objectionable that a soda cost $ 3.50. It also sucked at the waitress told us that the fish of the day was $ 16 but when the bill came it was actually $ 20. I didn’t argue because again it was my wife’s birthday so I just let it go. $ 54 for lunch w no drinks. I’m glad I went, it was OK, but I doubt I’ll be returning.

Two complaints and one compliment: They charge over $ 9.00 for a pint of Guinness! $ 9.00+!! That is far more than what one would pay even in NYC! Plus, the Guinness tasted like Windex. Either dirty lines or a soapy glass, not sure which. The tough-looking brunette behind the bar thinks she is God’s gift to the world. She gives you an unfriendly unwelcoming attitude, unless you are a regular. She is not as good-looking as she apparently thinks she is. Despite the above, I will return. The place is incredibly eccentric … a fisherman’s bar in a land-locked community. Decent food too. Four stars for the food and two stars for the rude bartender and Guinness prices … average three stars.

I LOVE this place. It’s located by my job so every so often a couple of co-workers and I will go for Happy Hour. The bartenders are amazing and give us the best greeting when we walk in. They are definitely people persons. I automatically snack on the pickles they have at the bar because they are incredible. Prices are fair and the food is absolutely amazing. I normally stick with the bar food, the cheese fries and mozz sticks are to die for, lol. I did get a full meal a couple of time and still, delish. I love the décor. Tons of pictures of Billy and his family. It makes waiting in line for the bathroom pretty entertaining lol. LOVETHISPLACEANDHIGHLYRECOMMENDIT.

First Timer and Last Timer! Gianna — our waitress took our simple order and she screwed it up. We asked for two burgers, one with Cheddar Cheese and Raw Onions and it came out ok and the 2nd Burger we asked for Blue Cheese and Red Onions — Medium and guess what — it was delivered with Blue Cheese and Red Peppers… NOT…what we ordered, therefore we asked for them to re-do and guess what, it came out Blue Cheese and Red Onions and BARKINGRED — cold and still original onion rings and Gianna thought it was funny and the other waitress was rude and testy… The fill in Manager on duty — Katie who was filling in for Madeline(her sister), currently fishing in Key West — responded«kitchen was busy — what do you want from us? Left — and went to Zagursky’s — around the corner — for a better burger and cooked great and with NO Attitude — Think twice before eating at Billy & Madelines…

Went here for our first time last night and loved it! The décor is cool and the place just feels warm and inviting. We started w the chili served w tortilla chips which was delish and then had the meatloaf stack(excellent) and chicken parm sandwich which were both great! Definitely seems like a locals kinda spot where everyone knows everyone which is nice. Only gripe was the Guinness was over $ 8/pint. Seems a bit high but regardless, we’ll be back for sure.

Great bar with fisherman décor. My wife and I stopped by the other day. She got the disco fries while I got an order of the calamari(hot) and a chicken cheese-steak. Wow! They knocked it all out of the park. Great size menu so be sure to stop by, have a pint and explore it.

We are from out of town and were looking for a great meal. Love the décor and the staff is fast and friendly. We were seated by Madeline herself and she also took our order! Love how the staff all works together to make it a great experience. The menu is varied enough that my husband and I each got something exactly to our taste. Definitely worth your time.

Have been going to this place for at least 20 years. Friendliest people ever. Madeline and Billy are the best hosts. Food is amazing. Just returned after eating fresh mako shark and yellow tuna. In the mood for seafood, freshest seafood and made to your liking. Complimentary pickles and shots. Huge portions. I can’t get enough of this place. When I was pregnant and craving for burgers, this is the only place I would get them from. Nothing compares to this place.

We walked in here and it felt like home, the staff greeted us like we were regulars. Hell, the regulars greeted us like we were regulars. The food is also like home. One thing I noticed it there are no vegetables on their menu. This is not the place to go if you want to eat healthy. This is the place you go for comfort food. Meatloaf dinner, disco fries, cold beer Yup, home.

Friendly staff. Fun, nautical theme décor. Kids menu. Wide range of prices to fit most budgets. Average food. Neither exceptional or terrible. The staff was quite friendly. My kids were excited for Swedish fish, baseball cards and $ 1. It doesn’t take much! Decent enough selection of beers. This is not a craft brew joint, but they offer enough options. They lean towards seafood. Steamers, fried clams, mako shark, tuna, snapper to name a bunch. Yet they’re also offering steaks. You can go with some higher prices entrees like steak, tuna or scallops. They’re also offering mid range options like a variety of chicken preparations, pot roast and meatloaf. Or they offer a wide variety of sandwiches and burgers. Tonight I went with a bacon burger. A bit overcooked, but not killed. I liked the crumbled crisp bacon. I’m also a fan of their thick steak fries. My son’s chicken tenders were also overcooked. Unfortunately to the point of being tough and a bit dry. Overall, a positive experience. Time will tell if B&M’s RRT will make it into the rotation.

It’s a dive bar. Now, I love a dive bar. The cheesy decorations, the patrons who have been sitting at the same stool for years– but since when is a dive bar more expensive than the Ritz Carlton? Children in the bar late at night, and regulars admonished and put on the spot for adult language– we used to come here every week, but Billy’s won’t see us anymore.

Soups are great! Love the meatloaf special! Service can be a bit spotty… sometimes the younger attractive girls aren’t the best at serving food. Great value! Madeline & Billy are beyond nice, and you really do feel like family when they speak with you. Must try when in the area.

I really like this place a lot! This was our second time here and we were seated in a weird secluded corner of the restaurant. Some people would have liked this but we like being in the center of things… The first time we came here we had such nice and cool waitresses tending to us, but this time the first girl, blonde, tall and thin, who took care of us was a little odd. Every time she would come by to give us something I would always say«thank you» and she would say nothing back. Just walk away briskly. I don’t like that, it’s rude, say something, Like«sure» «no problem» «UR welcome»… Idk I just thought it was weird… But anyway! The food here is excellent! We both loved what we ordered(fried calamari as an app) I ordered the key largo pasta, big shrimp beer battered with white wine sauce, soooo good! And fiancé ordered the steak marsala it was excellent! I was actually jealous even though mine was so good… The highlight of this place was when I believe she’s the owner came over and brought our food to us… She is a sweetheart and very kind… I like that she interacts with customers & seems to truly care about her restaurant… I hope someone reads this and tells that waitress she needs to take some lessons of etiquette from her boss…

I love Billy & Madeline’s Red Room. I’ve been coming to this place for 20 years. This place feels like home to me. Owned and operated by a wonderful family, Billy and Madeline are almost always around. The staff are always nice, friendly waitresses. The decorations/ambiance is awesome. Ask Billy about any of the hundreds of fishing pictures… each one has a story behind it! Good drinks /beers. Great food(FRESHSEAFOOD). The menu is varied, and most of it is great! I highly recommend their Pasta Fagioli and Scallops appetizer. And of course the number one attraction: the pickled hot peppers /onions /green tomatoes /pickles. AWESOME. Adults: It’s a great bar to get together with friends and catch up… the place is not too loud, there’s never music blasting. You can actually talk/hear. However, it’s almost always lively, even on weeknights. On weekends it can get rowdy /fun /packed… but not *too* much so. If you’re lucky Billy will buy/give everyone a shot or a free drink. Family: I love to take my kids here. There’s a nice fish tank. the staff is always very nice to kids. They come over and give each kid a pack of Swedish Fish and a crispy one dollar bill. Really!

This place was recommended by a coworker. Very casual, friendly service and the owner is a character. If you are ever here ask the owner t tell you the«Plunger» joke. Appetizers were good. Had the hot wings, chips and fried ravioli’s. Food came quick and was good. A must when in Whipanny NJ

*chicken wings(the wings were quite juicy and had a good flavor to them, not too spicy; better than a lot of places but not my favorite) *Key largo pasta(this pasta came with beer battered shrimp; it was alright, the shrimp were overly breaded and way too soft, you couldn’t even taste the shrimp honestly and it was rather unrecognizable; the pasta was al dente thankfully but I couldn’t finish this plate) This was is very cozy and I love the décor. It was like Christmas on a boat. The parking lot is tight. You’re going to have to sit at the bar or wait for a table on weekends because it gets super crowded.

The last time we were here was about ten years ago with our children and some friends. Our memories included: a big crowd, tight quarters, be prepared to wait, great service and Swedish fish and a dollar for all kids at the table! Nothing has changed. The wait was not too bad, maybe 20 minutes. Quarters are still tight as a huge circular bar takes up the majority of the space. The menu is terrific bar food and comfort food, there is something for everyone. The service is absolutely terrific. Gina was our main server but everyone else checked on us during our stay. What incredible teamwork. The owners were mingling throughout the room the entire time. Any bar owner wannabe should take a few lessons from these folks. I enjoyed beef tips over now tie pasta. It was terrific. My husband has a bacon cheese burger. The bun to burger ratio was a little high for my taste but he said the burger was great. They use kaiser rolls for burgers. Parking is very tight but in the evening you can probably park across the street the Post Office. This is NJ’s own Cheers for sure. Everyone is welcome and even without the kids I was treated to Swedish Fish! Go and enjoy.
