I love that this drive is so close by. You can eat in your car, or you can sit down, there is enough space to get comfortable. Totally snatch up a groupon if you can. It is a great value. The first time I had the hotdog, it wasn’t what I expected. Super Dawgs are exclusive. They are no Vienna, and they do not have a casing. To me, that made for a mushy hotdog. The next time after I knew what to expect, I thought the hotdog had good flavor. I really love the super cheesie. The whooper cheesie is «doubly» good. It is one solid burger because it is made fresh to order and piping hot. It’s on the greasy side, so dieters beware. It’s distinct because mustard and relish are available condiments for your burger. The pickled tomatoes on the side have good pucker. I am a fan of the crinkly fries, but my favorite side is the super fried veggies. I can’t say if deep frying a vegetable makes it completely lose its nutritional value… But it does had add to the delicious factor. Solid fast food with flavor!

Good hot dog, bad fries, flat coke, and my friend waited for a burger long enough for me to eat my whole meal. Also, the kid washing windows didn’t wash his hands before going back to work.

This place is OK. You go for the drive in experience more than the food. The fries were soggy and dark. They messed up our order twice. I’m not sure what was so hard about a cheeseburger, hot dog with fries and 2 plain hot dogs with no fries. They are on the pricier side here. Again, you go for the experience more than the food.

I was in Wheeling for a baseball tournament and passed Superdawg. I had to try it. Opted for curbside service which was solid. Food(hotdogs, fries, drink) was quite tasty. Waitress was pleasant. Overall it is very pricey. I guess you are paying for the reputation and the cool giant hot dog statues. Wheeling probably kills them on property taxes so high prices are likely a necessary evil. Superdawg was cool. It’s probably worth going a couple times per year.

Chicago icon and they did a pretty good job replicating it in Wheeling. I have always loved Superdawg on Milwaukee Ave on the North side. I took my nieces and nephew who were confused why I’d take them so far away for a hot dog. They said — -hmm looks like a Sonic. So I yelled at them. yes I told them NEVER insult Superdawg by calling it Sonic. We ate in silence at first. First the cute little boxes with the hot dog narration about sleeping inside on a bed of fries was cute to the kiddos. They asked about the green pickled tomato and loved it. My nephew mumbles with a big mouthful that this was the best hot dog ever. I couldn’t hear him over my own MMMMMs. We also all tasted an order of the chili. delicious. The girls both wanted a super burger and were very happy with the choice. After lunch we all ordered super brownies ala mode. Not a drop of ice cream in my car. they want to go back again so I promised another trip. Lots of drive up spots, you can also go in. Quick and smileycar side service. Same wonderful menu. Not a bad location next to Bob Chin’s. Strong lessons taught that day about hot dog insults and pickled tomatillos. I will defend Superdawg forever and pass it on to future generations.

1) Don’t go here expecting a Vienna Beef Chicago style dog. They use a different brand of hot dog and bun. 2) The onion rings are not beer battered or made fresh. If you go in with these 2 expectations, you will be fine. Good service. Limited seating inside.

I like their food… a lot. However, their service is terrible. I went in at 2:30 pm on a Friday and their were two customers(who’d been served already) and 6 employees behind the counter doing nothing. My order was simple: a chardog with mustard and pickle, cheese with the fries, and a medium sized diet coke with easy ice. Simple enough. What I get is a cup full of ice and an eye-dropper amount of soda. I made them redo it. I watch the«hot dog guy» take a bun and place a steamed hot dog in it. Another employee says something to him. He then takes the hot dog out, puts it back in the bin with the other steamed hot dogs and place my chardog in the same bun. I then told them they should maybe give me a fresh bun. They do it. They then give me a tray with hotdog and drink. I ask, «what about the cheese for the fries?» The cashier says, «oh yeah». I sit down and find a pickled tomato on my hotdog. Really??? Seriously, WTF? Six employees and they screw up the entire order? They need to retrain(or just train) the staff. So terrible.

This rating is for what it is: a hot-dog-based drive-in. And on that level, they truly deliver. I find it beyond hilarious that this is right next to the former site of a gourmet French restaurant. Not just any gourmet place, but one that was once the«best restaurant in America» and home of Chicago’s first celebrity chef. I’m laughing into my fries. I wonder what the ghost of Jean Banchet thinks of this? And, yes, I’m also laughing that now people who search these review will find the name of a famous French chef associated with SuperDawg. But they do serve«French Fries» here. Justice. Come here with your kids. Come after your hike or canoe or kayak down the Des Plaines River. Come if you are a cheap pilot flying out of PWK. They have good hot dogs. Served in a box. From a drive-in. It’s great, it’s cheap, and it’s tasty in that salty-fast food sort of way. And aren’t the two dawgs adorable? Tarzan dawg and mini-skirted lady dawg? I wish this had been around when my kids were young. They would have loved this.

Here’s what you need to know: tasty fast food from a local favorite chain. Burgers and dogs are terrific, fries are addictive, and the service is outstanding. Decent shakes too. It took me a while to warm up to superdawg. When I First tried it out, I wasn’t blown away. I thought the food was decent but nothing to write home about. But over the years, I’ve continued to go there with colleagues from the office, and have customized the toppings to my liking. Now I can’t get enough of it. The food is certainly not«healthy» but it is delicious. I almost always get the whoopercheesie, which is a double cheeseburger. All sandwiches comes with fries, which can be held back for a saving of $ 2.50. That’s a very fair price and system for the customer. The green tomato, pickle, and peppers all add a zingy kick to the Superdawg box of goodness. The shakes are a bit sweet, and their Superdawg chocolate brownie is just the right size and very enjoyable. The service is always extremely pleasant and welcoming. A whoopercheesie with a soda is about $ 10.

Neon green relish normally frightens me, however Superdawg had the color toned down and I barely noticed. I ate a Chicago dog and didn’t freak out about the color, that is big for me. Seriously, the service was great and the staff was friendly. The food was good. Order the chocolate malt and you won’t be disappointed. It was everything I was expecting. The kids meal size was generous with the portions. Can’t wait to come back another time.

This place is a joke. Hot dog was crammed into a box with the fries. The dog was all smashed up. The tamale was nasty! The burger was nothing special. Not one person working there looked like they cared about the place. Time for a new manager.

It actually saddens me to write this review! Superdawg a favorite of mine. Living on the southwest side of Chicago I do not get there that often. Actually had not been their in years, but I saw that there was a groupon available so I called my girlfriend and said lets both buy a set and take our families. So we both did, In any case we ordered our food. They got the burgers wrong as well as the toppings. The fries were cold and the hot dogs soggy. And the worst part of the evening is that there was a piece of metal in the burger. I am thinking that the original owners have someone else running the place because I had never had a bad meal there before. I called talk to the manager but he was not available. I will make another attempt later this week. Used to be a great place.

This place has delicious ice cream! We went here randomly on our trip in Illinois and I’m glad we did. It’s a cool old-school looking diner. The staff is friendly, too. I can’t wait to come back and try their SuperDawg!

This spot was highly recommended by our hotel and in our welcome letter for the wedding we were attending. I figure Chicago dogs are a must when in the Windy City. We stopped in for dinner and the menu had plenty of delicious items, but we had to go with the Chicago dog. Here they know it as the Superdawg. I also enjoyed a pineapple Supersoda which is ice cream in pineapple effervescence. The hotdog was very good and definitely satisfied my craving. The french fries served along side looked unimpressive, but were very good. I’d definitely recommend this spot for anyone in the area. The dining area inside is cute and the food is good.

They serve a traditional Chicago style dog with a few changes. The hot dogs they serve are medium sized wieners, not too small but not the great big hot dogs either. Their hot dogs are their own recipe made exclusively for them and not the traditional Vienna brand. They don’t put cucumber or red tomatoes on their hot dogs instead they serve a green tomato wedge on the side. I had never had a green tomato but it was a nice surprise from what can be bland red tomatoes. All hot dogs are served with crinkle cut fries that are generously salted. I also had a chocolate shake. It was very thick and chocolatey. The service can be incredibly sloooow. My only complaint is they way they pack the hot dog on the bottom of the box and then top it with the fries. It’s kind of difficult to get the hog dog out of the box. A great Chicago hot dog landmark.

Being the Superdawg fan that I am of the other, original location it was completely and utterly necessary for me to wander into the Wheeling location’s store front after an interview at CVS, a place that knowlingly promotes health and wellness — well, I definitely wasn’t being healthy when I decided to eat at Superdawg. Despite the unhealthy factor that encompasses all of Superdawg, I absolutely cannot deny the tastey quality of it’s caloric food. Although I am a huge fan of the original locale with all of its nostalgia, I am likewise a huge fan of this Superdawg and its size of not only the parking lot, but also of the restaurant itself. I believe that if one is to try Superdawg for the first time then it’s necessary for them to go to the original location in Chicago first, but after that you have my permission to go to the Wheeling location. There are unique aspects to appreciate at both locations, but the size is definitely the biggest appreciated factor at this location. There are many more places for you to park whether you plan on going inside to grab a bite or you plan to sit in and order in your car. You have plenty of options here, that is for sure. When I arrived at Superdawg it was in the middle of the day and hence it was not busy in the slightest so I wandered inside where I was greeted by several gentleman at the bar. I enjoyed this location because with its size there were also many signs and displays talking about the history of Superdawg and how it came to be one of the best hot diggity dog places in the Chicago area! I was able to enjoy all of these while I ate my ever-delectable hot dog(with everything on it, of course), those amazzzing fries and a soda pop(yes, I am from the Midwest and I say soda pop). You can say it all day long: a hot dog is a hot dog is a hot dog, but they just taste 10x better at Superdawg. So what if the whole meal combined was about $ 7? Like Sheryl Crow once stated…“If it makes you happy then it can’t be that bad”…she must have been talking about Superdawg when she was singing that. Also, at this location(like that of the Chicago location) you are able to purchase Superdawg-specific items, ranging from t-shirts to Christmas ornaments… and yes, I was thissssssssss close to buying a Superdawg Christmas ornament. They’re freaking awesome, c’mon now. Anywho, the moral of the story is to go to Superdawg for goodness sakes! Get on it people!

I love Superdawg in Chicago. If you’ve never tried it, you’re missing out on an institution. Good Vienna beef hotdog, a little larger than normal if I’m not mistaken, in a custom Superdawg box with crispy krinkle cut fries. It’s the perfect amount of food for a nice Chicago lunch. Oh! And I can’t forget the shakes! Get a chocolate shake for an upgraded«fries in my chocolate shake» experience.

We were already on the bike, leaving Faubs Motorcycle Shop in Glenview when my boyfriend cried out, «I’m hungry!» and that triggered my craving for a chili cheese dog. I instinctively told him to turn right onto Central Road and suggested we ride North on Milwaukee Avenue to Superdawgs. My boyfriend had been there before so it was easy for him to agree. We pulled up to the Drive-Thru and that’s when I made myself look dumb to anyone who could hear me. I knew what I wanted to eat but I couldn’t find it on their menu so I turned and faced the speaker to ask if they served hot dogs. The voice from the other side was kind for not laughing at me. When I heard him say that they do but they do not offer a hot dog with chili on it, I stopped listening; I think he said I could order each item separately. By then, I lost my appetite for a weiner and was already contemplating other options. My order arrived in a black container with a clear lid; all I could see was a whole lot of diced white onions. I thought there might be too much but once I stirred in the extra toppings, it turned out to be the right amount. Be careful when you go to peel away the lid. Not only it is securely sealed on, the container is stuffed with ingredients. I am very happy to report that the chili was a bowl of awesomeness! I think I know why they don’t serve it on a hot dog but you will have to come in and try this for yourself to understand. Be sure to try a spoonful before you dunk the crackers in.

I am not a FAN of the HOTDOG, I was dragged to this place by couple of my friends, who wanted to go. One, there was just very less options, it’s a fast food place and it’s a CHICAGO special, so I wanted to give it a TRY. I had the Chicken sandwich which was so — so. There was nothing there besides a piece of grilled meat and bbq sauce. That’s it. This place is probably much better for it’s DAWG. So I suggest you try that and not listen to a NON-FAN of the HOTDOG.
