i live in Chicago, so this past weekend was my first time to WMC. i was pretty impressed with not only the selection of meats but the prices. bought some of the ⁸⁰⁄₂₀ burgers to grill up for my family and they were outstanding. bought a 1lb bone-​in ribeye which i plan to grill up this week! i definitely recommend Wheaton Meat Co. if you are looking for some quality meat to grill up!

We just moved to the area and I’m psyched to live near a butcher. I’ve gone there twice in the past two weeks. The first time I just went in for sirloin to make fajitas and was helpfully sold into buying «steak scraps» that were from ribeyes as far as I can tell. Heck of a lot cheaper and made awesome fajitas. While there I also got some of their pub burgers and since it’s hard to find, I got a tri-​tip marinaded in their «Grampa Bill’s Famous Marinade».
The pub burgers were as good as a burger can be. Way better than a frozen patty that’s for sure.
The tri tip though. Oh my god. I usually don’t expect much from pre-​marinated meats, but this was nuts. It may have very well have been the best piece of beef I’ve ever eaten.
I went back the next week and got some prime sirloin that I hacked into chunks, marinated in the Grampa Bill stuff, and then made kebabs. They were also really, really good.
I will be back often (every weekend).

Jalapeño bacon. Do I need to say more? This place is great! Lots of options and the butchers can help you with anything. I was surprised that they didn’t open until 9am on a Friday, but lucky for me I checked their hours before going.
You can’t beat the customer service. Ask questions and they know the answer!
Close your eyes, take a whiff and you can smell me cooking that bacon!

THEY ARE LYING ABOUT THERE GRADE OF BEEFS. If I am gonna be a customer of this place I want to see the USDA grade on there prime beef. No where marked on there packaging or on the meat says USDA PRIME. I think this place is bullshit as well as there staff not listening to there customers request. When you spend on average of $ 150 per trip to this place just on steaks you should be taken seriously and not given the shittiest cuts of fatty bone in rib-​eyes that are at the end of there roast cause you know those are gonna suck compared to the rest of the roast! Stop serving your great repeat customers shit and start listening to how we want our steaks cut! THERE IS NO STAMPS ON MEAT OR ON PACKAGING ANYWHERE STATING USDA PRIME GRADE! This place is a JOKE

I LOVE this place. Wheaton Meat Company always has wonderful cuts of meat, great deals, and great people working there. Whenever I’m cooking something I haven’t cooked before they are always very helpful and offer fantastic suggestions. They have a wide array of meats and cuts available as well as pre-​marinated items and a few already made sides. You have to try the beans, they are to die for as well as the «Grampa Bill’s» marinated pork chops! Really you can’t go wrong with anything you get here. Everything is fantastic and they are more than happy to assist you with whatever you need. :)

After a year or two of driving past, I finally stopped in here a few times the past year and a half or so. Steaks, burger patties, bacon, all certainly decent. More recently, however, I «discovered» their marinated tri tip, and I am HOOKED.
Good looking cut of meat, not cheap, not overly pricey, nicely trimmed and marinated. Roasted PERFECTLY in the oven a few weeks ago, very juicy, and pretty freakin’ nicely on the grill yesterday as well — remained reasonably juicy despite my best efforts to overcook it to a medium.
«Grampa Bill’s» is their house brand and sets their offerings apart. Grampa Bill’s marinated London broil — the tri tip — is a winner for sure. Dining companion was equally impressed with this tri tip and marinade, and I think a second effort on the grill in the near future will result in grilled perfection.
I also picked up Grampa Bill’s marinated chicken breasts for grilling later today. I have my expectations set high. They also offer a marinated pork chop that I’ve got my eye on for the future, as well.
Not especially impressed with the twice-​baked potatoes they have in the freezer case. Hey, they can’t all be winners.
Nice people, reasonable prices, good selection, good inventory. Street parking is sometimes a little tough when there’s an event going on in downtown Wheaton, but usually plenty of parking within short walking distance.
I get most of my beef, chicken & pork from local/​organic/​pasture/​grass-​fed/​etc. sources via Door to Door Organics, but for marinated items, or for same-​day, unplanned, thawed-​for-​grilling needs, Wheaton Meat Company is my go-​to spot.

Thoroughly underwhelmed by both quality and service.
I had high hopes for this meat market, but between the lackluster service I received and the substandard meat, those hopes were dashed.
I got a couple of steaks and burgers to grill for dinner. The steaks (t-​bones) were quite gristly for being labeled «USDA choice or better» which made for a very unpleasant dining experience. Honestly, I’ve gotten better steak at the grocery store which isn’t saying much. The pub burgers were ok, but nothing more.
As for service, the guys working there didn’t really seem like they wanted to be there and certainly didn’t go out of their way to be helpful.
All in all, I’ll be looking elsewhere for a good meat market.

Consistent high quality at a good price. I drive here from Naperville, although there are butcher shops and supermarkets that are closer.

Really a great little shop. I’ve always gotten excellent recommendations from the butchers and the quality has never disappointed.
The only problem for me is that I don’t always plan ahead.. Sometimes we just think «doesn’t a steak sound good?» And when we get the they are closed. They are closed on Sundays and they are closed when you get off the train after work.
Prior to Marianos opening almost across the street this was a real problem. Now I can get great meat when I need it.
I shop at the Wheaton Meat Company a little less now. But, I really hope that they thrive in the competition because it’s great having such a high quality, locally owned company in the neighborhood.

I will come back as often as humanly possible and here is why… EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE and quality products. We had ordered a fresh (green) ham for our Thanksgiving feast (we recently purchased a Big Green Egg and wanted to smoke more meaty goodness than just a turkey). We called to see if we could get the ham, they said we could and cut it smaller (18lbs was the quote and we only needed 7−8lbs), and we could pick it up Monday before Thanksgiving. We drove up from Schaumburg (I will drive any distance for a quality product) and the delivery came but our ham was left on the truck. They took my address and said they would bring it to me. I told them I could just get it the following day, no worries. They refused and took my address. The ham was delivered that afternoon (in a snow squall). We have been back 4 times since and I will keep coming back AND singing their praises. Steaks are beautiful, bacon cheddar pub burgers are to die for, and their chicken salad ALWAYS hits the spot. Go and give them a try, you won’t be sorry!

Suffering from a meat coma for the last 22 hours, I was delayed in writing this review. After breakfast yesterday, my husband suggested a walk over to the Wheaton Meat Market to just ‘see what they’ve got’. Who knew they’ve got it all!!!
We were quite overwhelmed as we do not have a local meat market in Bartlett so we didn’t even know where to start. We kinda walked back and forth in front of the case aimlessly for a few minutes. I saw a giant slab of Delmonico meat. My son and my husband liked the t-​bone. And so we ordered a couple T-​bone steaks and a Delmonico cut about an inch thick (for me!). Then we decided to treat our dogs and learned that the marrow bones would be a good choice. Two of those giant bones please. Finally, we were oohing and ahhing over the stuffed peppers. Those will be served up for dinner tonight.
The steaks cooked up beautifully. The marbling was perfect and the meat just so fresh. Even the husband who doesn’t normally care too much about food, commented on how good it was.
Now, they have a variety of meats in a variety of forms. Ham salad. Chicken salad. Bacon multiple ways. All sorts of sausage. Big ol’ pork chops. Tons of sauces and seasonings. The list goes on and on. Thus, we will need to visit again.
I don’t see me being able to buy all of our meat here, but it was a fabulous treat and I know we will be back to try more. My only wish is that they opened a second location that was closer to home for us!

Once you go WMC you never go back! The meat here is not even comparable to what you’d get at the grocery store. The taste and texture is miles apart. In fact, since we don’t buy from there as often as we’d like I won’t eat any beef if its not from WMC. It’s just not even worth the calories if its a supermarket steak. Lets put it this way, a dinner with a filet from WMC will be so amazing you’re sure to get laid just from pure dinner awesomeness!

Best chicken ever, my family will not eat anything else and can always tell if I try to substitute with a grocery brand. Hamburger is also much leaner and ground correctly (not the weird worm kind found in the grocery stores). Prices are fair and I waste less because every bite is tender not tough.

Wow! What a great place to buy wonderful meat! The butchers are extremely friendly and helpful. I can always count on them to help me with having just the right amount of meat per person when I host guests. I can also depend upon Wheaton Meat’s consistently high quality, fresh meat/​products. Definitely worth every penny.

The prices here are fair… it is a quality meet shop. The previous review with the WASP comment made me chuckle. I’ve seen a black guy working here too!
Grampa Bill’s (yes, spelled that way) pork chops, Breadsmith Dessert breads, and great marinated chicken breast! Check the weekly paper for their sales, otherwise you’ll be paying an arm, leg, wing, and breast (haha boobies).

I just stopped by today and picked up our Christmas entrée and thought about how much i liked this place. Old timey and that is what I like about it. Real butchers who know cuts of meat along with a sense of humor. You can pay less and you will know it. I stopped by there for 30 fillets for my wife’s 50^th party in Galena back in October and our Friends from around the country are still talking about that meal. 28 people from all over the country can’t be wrong! This place is well worth the trip!!!
