So you’re thinking of getting a fancy new haircut and a trendy new shave? Or maybe classical, old-school and nifty are words that better describe your desires? Whatever it is, these guys right here will do it. The place is so homey and welcoming, you might want to just hang around for the atmosphere. Exquisite service, mannered attention, professional cut. My personal experience was excellent. Got what I came in for and felt taken care of and welcomed back! Which I definitely will, because you guys clearly are the Kings of Barber shops!

«Well, we better cut it like that then!» is what Keslie said as I showed her a picture of the way my wife said my hair looks good. So, having facial hair is still fairly new to me. I’ve been looking for a regular barber to help me keep my face and head in reasonably well groomed condition. It’s an old school barber shop and I expected an old school barber. Since I didn’t know anybody I took the first available spot, with Keslie. She’s neither old, nor old school. I got a great cut, hot lather/straight razor trim and some amusing conversation. 15 bucks.(drops the mic)

I’ve been going to Kings since I was young enough to sit on the children’s horses there. While I grew up in Wheaton; these Days I drive all the way from the South Side of the city just to get my hair cut there. In Over the 40 plus years, I cant remember having had one bad trim or cut. Yes, In that time I’ve tried several other places including salons and sports themed places and still I’m happiest with Kings. Don & Jackie along with everyone else there do a fantastic job. There’s plenty of seating. Occasionally there is wait but not to often. Everyone is extremely personable, it’s relaxing as they make you feel like family. Kings isn’t just Barber shop but one of Wheaton’s greatest intuitions.

Vickie does a great job with both hair and shaves. Very old school feel. Sometimes you have to wait awhile for a haircut and shave but it is good. Very detailed place.

Was looking for a place for a good shave and read good reviews about King’s Barber Shop in Wheaton. Was not disappointed at all. Cozy, old-timey atmosphere felt like I stepped back in time to 1960’s Wheaton. Awesome service, saw Michael as many people suggested and the only disappointment with my shave was a few minor misses with the straight-razor. But they’re at whorls that I can’t even get right so I’m far from being upset about them. Ever need a shave or just a decent cut– come to this place.

User Mark W. down there is high as a kite if he thinks this place is racist. I’m Indian and got 0% of any kind of vibe like that. Went there with my buddy to get us groomed before his wedding later that day. They did a fantastic job trimming us up, the straight razor shaves felt great and were very relaxing, and the barbers there made great conversation. I don’t live in the area anymore, but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic local shop experience.

Best hair cut I’ve received in the approaching-3 years since I’ve moved to the Midwest from NY. I’ve had my hair cut and my neck shaved here by Michael(back left corner, younger guy) probably about a half dozen times now — whenever I have time, work and work travel not getting in the way, Michael is by far my preferred choice for a hair cut. Between the Chicago ‘burbs, Chicago Loops, from Milwaukee to San Francisco, none of the convenient-hours/lots-of-chairs chains come close, though a couple salons I’ve been too have done OK, salons don’t do a neck shave. King’s and Michael are in a class by themselves for a men’s cut — especially at the rate of $ 15 for cut + neck shave. I’ve heard the other guys do a good cut. The gentleman in the front left did me once, but I don’t think he had as good a feel for my head as Michael does. Plus he is, or was at the time, a smoker, which does not add to the experience. I don’t think I’ve heard him hacking the last few times I’ve been in though, so perhaps he gave up the habit. My only desire would be that they open earlier — some of the older gents seem to have early clients, but Michael comes downstairs at the posted opening time of 8:30. Back home I used to get up early to catch a 6AM or 6:30AM cut before work.

What a fantastic experience for my son’s first hair cut! This place is probably pretty similar to the way it was when it opened in the early 60s. In a very laid back way, Michael charmed my 3 year old and kept him comfortable throughout the hair sculpting process. And I really do mean sculpting,.he had the look of an artist at work. No hair products used on my little guy, no products for sale, no salon smell or sales pitch — great. The place had a relaxed, homey atmosphere, and the barbers were all friendly, including the owner who was there cutting hair.

If you have read my reviews you know that I am not afraid to go out of my way to get better service. I live in Lombard and this barber is in Wheaton. I drive my small child to Wheaton every 4 weeks to see Michael. He is super personable, remembers every thing relevant that the child talks about, i.e. Disney, Birthdays etc. Most importantly, most of the time he gives the child superior haircuts of course other than a couple of squirming child mishaps. All of the barbers are welcoming and don’t make me feel uncomfortable, sometimes as a mom you can feel uncomfortable in barber shops, it’s kinda a mans place. Jim also gives a good haircut and I frequently urge my Husband to forgo his usual barber and head to Wheaton, which he never does.

Went back to young Michael again today — the guy is great — accurate and personable! He said that he’s been getting more and more Straight Razor Shaves — guys — if you’ve never had one, this is THE place to start — and it’s a cool thing to do with all the groomsmen the morning of the wedding — my sister did it to make sure everyone looked good after a night of «celebration» lol
