History

Established in 2012.

The Wheaton location of Sapp Violins was opened to serve as a Satellite shop for the main workshop in Montgomery. Musicians can purchase accessories and strings, drop off instruments and bows off for repair and rent stringed instruments. Greg Sapp is available for consultation during Saturday hours.

Sapp Violins maintains their inventory at the Montgomery location, so musicians shopping for a new instrument are best served in Montgomery.

Greg Sapp graduated from the Kenneth Warren & Son School of Violin Making (now the Chicago School of Violin Making) in 1981. After working for the prestigious firm of Kenneth Warren & Son for 14 years (8 of those as head repairman), he worked out of his house for 14 years. During this time he provided high level restoration services to shops throughout the country. In 2006, Greg and his wife, Mary Ellen (Mel), opened a retail shop in Montgomery, IL. Since that time, they have opened a satellite shop in Wheaton, IL and maintain a repair studio in Chicago.
