Specialties
We are a local family owned business that creates custom rubber and self-inking stamps, notary and professional seals and engraved signs. We also specialize in ADA signage which is commonly used in all types of buildings to help give direction to people who are handicapped, blind or vision impaired.
Another great process we use called sublimation is used to imprint full color photos, logos and other images on a variety of items including nametags, signs, t-shirts, mousepads and much more. For small companies this is great way for branding your products and services without a huge cost and large quantities that you might run into with other promotional products. It’s also a fun and unique way to be able to present someone with a unique gift or to commemorate a special occasion.
History
Established in 1978.
Petersen Specialty was originally established in the late 1950’s and owned by Martha Petersen in Arvada, Colorado. In 1978 Tom and Carol Dassler puchased the company from Mrs. Petersen who was running it from her basement at the time. We moved all the hand-set type, vulcanizers and supplies from her basement to ours.
Within a short time Tom and Carol added a pantograph engraving machine to our equipment line so we could fulfill sign and seal orders that customers had begun asking for. We also moved out of the basement into our first location on Grant street in Arvada, Colorado.
Throughout the years we continued to see steady growth as we added our first typesetting machine and computerized engraver.
We are now located in a good sized spot on I-70 and Kipling Street in Wheat Ridge where we all work as a family today. We’re still adding new processes and equipment that will continue to help us serve our customers and community with all their marking needs.
Meet the Manager
Heather T.
Manager
Hello! I’m Heather and I’m going to talk directly to you in this bio.
If you read our history then you know that we started out small in my family’s basement in the late 1970’s. I was almost one year old when all the excitement happened and that’s when my experience with our company begins.
I remember being very young sitting with my dad while he was using the small metal hand-set type to create stamp layouts. Being the good dad that he is, he set me up in a chair next to him with my own set of type to arrange.
As the years passed my life was immersed in the business. When I was 15 I couldn’t wait to become the company typesetter. I’d already been making the stamps for awhile, so this was the next step up. I worked through High School and then attended college for an Associates degree in Business Administration.
I’m looking foward to being the next owner of Petersen Specialty and continuing our legacy as we move into the future.
Thanks for Reading!
Sincerely,
Heather
