I have been lucky enough to buy multiple items from Modmood, including new and consignment items. Everything I purchased I have been happy with. This is a fun store to stop in and wonder around in. The front portion has a mix of new and nicer consignment items. They have a couple warehouses in the back that are more like a dusty garage sale, which can be fun to check out. The warehouse items seem to be in mostly states of disrepair and/​or decomposition, so it is more like a treasure hunt to find something worth paying for. I have been lucky to find several items from the back, but it took some digging. The staff is friendly and responsive to questions. The prices are hit and miss, somethings seemed way overpriced to me, but the items I have purchased were great deals. If you are looking for consignment items, it may take several visits before you find just what you are looking for. If you want something new, they can work with you on getting what you want. Mostly, you have to have an open mind and be willing to just wonder around and take it in, you might just find something awesome.

This place is pretty bad ass! Didn’t buy anything but had a nice time browsing and the staff was helpful and friendly. They have some funky stuff in there!

Stopped in yesterday to look for a few tables for my new home. Having just moved from DC, where I frequented several really cool used/​upcycled furniture stores, I was shocked at the prices and condition of the inventory here. While they had many interesting pieces and a very eclectic showroom, they seemed more interested in flash than really giving ideas as to how these pieces could integrate into a home. The biggest issue though was price. I’m not cheap, nor inexperienced with vintage, but most people who go this route are not «collectors» nor do they care about the name on the tag (legitimate or not). Like me they are most likely looking for a well built piece that they can integrate with newer pieces to add interest to their rooms. While some price margin for the convenience of going to a shop over garage sale/​thrifting is expected, this place was way off the mark, even for new. For example they had Tabouret bar stools for twice the price of Overstock or Amazon. Same stools, just twice as much. I don’t get it.

I was on a mission to find a unique gift for a family member who just purchased a house. I was pleasantly surprised with the inventory and unique finds in this store. The front area has a lot of modern furniture, lighting, pillows and decorative items from Europe and abroad. The back room is more like garage sale/​estate sale items that have not really been cleaned or organized. The style of this store is definitely more modern and contemporary. I will definitely come back and do some shopping when I have more time. The items I saw were pretty pricey. I’m not sure if they are fair prices or not, but seemed a bit steep for a semi-​consignment type store. If the prices weren’t so steep I’d give this place a much better review, but most of the items were just not that affordable.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I really like the «new» side of the shop that has some great contemporary furniture but at the usual high prices. What I don’t like is walking into what amounts to a garage sale of mid-​century furniture/​trinkets/​odds and ends and seeing the outrageous prices. I certainly know when a piece of furniture is worth the price of admission… but I feel like the owners of this place double the price of everything. From what would be a great second hand furniture find to the random items that literally have no value– their prices are just totally outrageous.

i dont really get this store. i walked in thinking i might find some cool reasonably priced stuff. the place looks and sounds like a fun spot; however, i walked out thinking «what a bummer». it was actually kind of depressing.
i saw a USED plastic chair that looks like a billion other chairs however the price tag was incredible. literally like $ 1500. I had to look at the price tag over and over again to see if my mind was playing tricks on me. i understand if it was a designer chair, but there was nothing to indicate that it was. However, that alone is not the kicker, the chair had dust and lent on it and so did other furniture that was EXTREMELY expensive. if you are going to sell something with a price tag of $ 1500 then at least take care of it while it sits in your store. i also went here to look for a small little table that i could put my record player on. i came across a used table that i really did not like as it had plastic wheels on it and just looked kinda cheap, but it was the right size and height that i was looking for. i asked the lady how much it was and she said $ 75 dollars. $ 75 dollars??? is she taking me for a fool? where did she come up with that price and why? i dont think the thing was ever worth $ 75. i was thinking she would have said $ 25 at most. i mean it was used, scratched up and unattractive. so i went instead to Ikea and bought the perfect little table that was by far better looking brand new for $ 30.
P. S. i feel sorry for the fool who pays $ 1500 for that plastic chair.

Great items inside. Met Pat who was awesome and gave me a great deal on a couch and two chairs. I will defiantly be back for more.

Wow, super greedy people. We were told at the store and over the phone a set of 4 chairs were $ 90 for all. When we went to pick them up the next week they wanted $ 99 each after they were in our car. Beware! If they offer a price buy on the spot. They were incredibly rude when we called them out and were told «good luck in your search sweetie» for chairs that 3 out of 4 had messed up legs. Won’t ever be shopping here again. Good luck with your business mod mood. Not sure how treating customers like idiots will keep you around much longer.

This store has a decent selection and is definitely filling a void in the mid-​century antique market in the Denver metro area, however, I find it to be overpriced. I realize that I was lucky enough to purchase most of my mid century pieces well before it was what a lot of people were looking for (i.e., before Mad Men started) but IMO $ 999 for a chair that is possible vintage and definitely reupholstered is a little pricey. The owners however, were on site and seem very nice.

So, I have been to this place a few times and it has become my go-​to shop for vintage furniture and accessories.
Last week I bought a very cute yellow and white Samsonite outdoor chat set, wood tree wall art, and a lampshade to go with my Buddah lamp. I feel that their prices are fair and their service is very good. The chat set ran me around $ 170. I love it… it is original and funky!

This clever, unique place has something for everyone. From Pez dispensers to superfine furniture, your wallet is treated gently. I never tire of going there. I can’t be a big spender, but I am treated like one. The people who have carved out this wonderful place have found a way to make your trip there fun, relaxing and creatively inspiring. If I could give 100 stars, I would.

Wheat Ridge is so random, but this place seriously rules. I went here today in order to find a desk chair and knew I was leaving with something. Essentially I found three options priced at $ 25, $ 150 and $ 350. I went the $ 25 route since I wasn’t sure if it was going to work with the desk I have but IT HAS A SECRET COMPARTMENT IN THE SEAT. How cool is that? If I had a gun I would totes hide it in there.
modmood is huge. Really cute outdoor patio display and enough stuff to distract you for a good 30 – 60 minutes. If you want to try something other than the usual Denver retro offerings, I would highly recommend this place. Wheat Ridge or bust!

modmood fills a hole in Denver when it comes to modern furniture. Both the side that features new as well as used are stocked with everything from classic modern, mid-​century chic to down-​right silly (rasta flamingos, anyone).
We were very excited to find a vintage 1970’s Bertoia Diamond chair which a practically never been sat in. My hubby sat in it and immediately pulled out his credit card.
Sadly, given the taste of most Denverites the stock is starting to look more contemporary than truly modern. Hey, you have to give people what they want. Still, just ask Jeanne or Pat to find you a special piece and they will find you what you’re looking for.

But, more importantly, they have lots of catalogs so you can those special pieces that the «big city» folks see in their stores.

My husband and I have visited modmood a couple times now. We are mid-​century geeks, and this place is way too much fun. We bought a great knock-​off of a very expensive chair here (they actually had an original in another area of the store and the owners were cool enough to show us how exact the replica was!). If you’re in the area and have a little time to kill, stop in and enjoy looking through all the treasures. You won’t be disappointed!

There’s so much awesomeness packed into this place, I can hardly stand it! It’s the kind of place you could literally waste an entire day in without even realizing it. While the new furniture and décor is pretty stinkin’ sweet, the vintage stuff is what makes this place special. There’s something for every style, and every price range. To top things off, the staff were super stoked we came to check the place out and weren’t at all pushy. I’ll be back again for sure. In fact, I wanna live at modmood!

We love this place! Found it after a really bad, 1-​star experience at Mod Livin’ and was blown away by the differences. First off, Mod Mood is huge … like an airplane hangar full of mid-​century modern consignment resales. You’ll have to walk through multiple times to really get a good look at everything, but it’s a fun time. On their «new» side of the building, they have reproductions of old faves, many using local artisans (not shipped in from China on a very slow boat). And their prices are very reasonable. But best of all is the staff. They are helpful, they wander the store looking for ways to help wandering customers. They love to chat about the pieces, tell you the history. They love to hear about your space and give you decorating ideas. In short, they actually care about the customer. Such a refreshing change!

I just can’t think of anything bad to say about modmood. This is a fun, eclectic place to spend an afternoon browsing new and used furniture and housewares. Modmood is connected to Retro Consignment, which I believe is owned by the same very cool people, and which definitely has a more vintage feel than its contemporary counterpart.
Having opened relatively recently, they still have a bit of organizing to do (I think they’re working on their patio/​outdoor section right now), but for the most part it’s really well laid-​out in a couple of awesome old buildings, is reasonably priced, and is a very cool place to find what you didn’t know you were looking for.

Wonderful store and it’s just around the corner from my house! They have a nice variety of gently used furniture and a wonderful selection of new ultra contemporary furniture and accessories as well. :-) A great addition to Wheat Ridge!
