Haunted Scarehouse

I feel like giving this 1 ½ stars. but i’ll be nice & give it 2. This is my first haunted house ever, and if this is the best or one of the best, oh boy. First of all, it was a huge wait line (about 30min), which i didnt really mind. (I mean, we came on Halloween night). The beginning was sort of boring, the family history they make you listen to. Then we go in, & they have you go with other groups. In my group it was just me & my hub. But the group that was walking in front of us got all the scares! So when we came, the actors are just kinda staring/​standing there. I noticed this, so towards the end, we tried pushing our way to the front. And while walking, you can see actors looking over to see if anyone’s coming. (not scary at all!) So when we came by, it’s kind of like «ok, hi.» Some mechanics were cool, I’ll give them that. But that’s about it. Not worth my 40+ min drive here! Plus, the ticketbooth guy told me I would get both attractions for $ 25 pp. He asked how many tickets I said 2, with all attractions. And hes like ok it’s $ 25. Im like ok. He said just for one. So $ 50. And I told him it was fine. Later, when trying to go to the other attraction, they said it’s another $ 5pp. Ok?! Apparently, I didnt buy both… There are porter potties as well as snacks and drinks. Not sure how much, as we ate before going, & we brought water. The whole haunted house took about 15−20min? Mostly because of the waits inside. There is plenty of parking, and it’s not TOO far from the House. So that was good.
Tip: Bring water! Glad I did, we were thirsty from the beginning. We finished a bottle and drank more of one that I had in my car.

Despite claustrophobic spaces, committed actors, and a high-​caliber atmosphere this place very minimally frightened me, and on the only night of the season where the lights are off and the actors are allowed to touch you no less. Speaking of actors touching you, they were not afraid to grab, faux-​choke, or kidnap (suspecting) victims — it definitely adds to the experience, but puzzlingly they only do a «touch night» two nights a season, with the second night combining the touching with a darkened attraction which is still dimly-​lit enough so that the tiny flashlight provided is unnecessary.
There are plenty of well-​put-​together sets and animatronics within Haunted Scarehouse, but to me the pacing was off; I could have done with more moments of suspense but the trend with haunted attractions nowadays seems to be constantly in your face, or in this case grabbing at your jacket with a vigor that almost tears it.
Although I am glad to see escape rooms becoming more commonplace at haunted attractions, I found the construction of the escape room here underwhelming with the one saving grace being that there was a devoted actress in the room for the five-​minute duration of the escape room. Sure, it may only be $ 5 but I’m not convinced five minutes is a great value or enough time to have an adequate escape room experience.
I am sure the right person could find Haunted Scarehouse frightening as it is indeed a quality attraction, but it did not pass the fright test for me. After going through two attractions last year and not screaming, then going through Shocktoberfest in PA and being terrified I am convinced it is not just up to me maturing as I can still be scared. In spite of the general quality I found Haunted Scarehouse undoubtedly above average yet not enough of a «Scarehouse,» emphasis on scare, for me.

I gotta give it to the actors stayin in character. I did like the entrance introduction and the work they put into the setting (props). Whole thing took less than 30min. Wait time on line was about an hour. Loved the animatronics. I give this place 3stars only because I felt they left out the tail of the crowd. I was at the end and almost never got scared. I been to other places where they scare the front middle and the end of group line. But overall I thought the place was creepy (that’s a good thing). Friendly staff and they put in a lot of work into the place. Happy Halloween!

I’m a HUGE haunted house fan and like to try a new one every year. This was the absolute BEST of the bunch!!! It was like being on a Disney World ride or better! I won’t give too much away but the house is a Warehouse area on a side road in Wharton. We waited only about 12 to 15 minutes to get in. I can imagine it may be more crowded on the weekend but that is to be expected for the BEST haunted house in the USA.
You start off in a room and learn the history of the Hayden family then you are taken into the house by group. I was only with one other person and was so happy we didn’t have to be with the annoying younger group who were in front of us. The way they handled the lines and groups was a perfect setup…
As for the theatrics, let me tell you. highly professional with the scariest of monsters, gores and demons! They also used a lot of electronic devices that made it even better. lots of loud noises, tight spaces and screams!
I went on Thursday, Oct. 22^nd which was ‘touch’ night. If you were ok with being touched, grabbed or clawed, you could choose to wear a glow necklace so they knew you were ok with it. If you didn’t wear the necklace then they wouldn’t touch you. I went for it… it was creepy, scary and hilarious all at the same time.
Cost is $ 25 to get in but the over all experience is about 45 minutes and well worth every cent! Every actor outdoes themselves and the props are amazing! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Get there before they close!

On the way out, they had this lady selling yummy Halloween goods and had drinks, water, etc. I was dying of thirst from screaming and laughing so I was happy she was there at the end.
They also have porta-​potties on site if you need!

I was creeped out from the start of the evening. I’m not too familiar with this area of Jersey, so as we drove to Wharton, the surroundings that night definitely reminded me of a horror movie — older houses, quiet roads, not many street lamps, woodsy areas. Dewey Road leads you to this giant warehouse with a school bus in front of it and people waiting on line. The parking lot is behind the warehouse.
Because we purchased our tickets ahead of time, we only waited in line for the attraction. There are two queues — one outside of the building after you get your ticket and then again inside right before you start the actual haunted house walk-​through (the people running the attraction space out the groups, so you don’t run into another group — which is a good thing). The wait wasn’t too bad even though we went on Saturday night.
I won’t give spoilers here, but I will say that you get your bang for your buck. All the greatest hits, quintessential, Halloween/​Horror Movie themes are represented. There’s a little something for everybody. Also, from start to finish, everyone involved in the production of the attraction is on board and 100% committed. You feel it. The people care about giving you a show and want to scare the crap out of you. My favorite thing about Haunted Scarehouse was the production design and the look of all the different rooms.
I’m a bad judge at determining if things are scary. I know that the people around us were scared and that they were freaked. I admit, some of those actors got me with a few jump scares. But it’s not dark, messed-​up, traumatic scary. It’s really creative and runs the gamut of different horror themes like I said before (even campy horror at the beginning). I will say that it’s an enjoyable haunted house. It’s FUN scary.
I would go again, and I actually just may. This year, Haunted Scarehouse started Trapped, which is comprised of four puzzle rooms. It’s $ 5 per room. We didn’t get a chance to check out Trapped last time, so most likely we’ll be back :)

I love going to haunted hayrides and houses. This one was about 60+ minutes from my house so it was quite a drive but 100% worth it. $ 20 for two haunted walk-​thrus. I came on a Sunday so the line was maybe 10 minutes if that so it went very quick. When you first buy your tickets, they make you stand in another line to take a few pictures before moving you into another line for the actual attraction. I loved this because it spaced everyone out enough so you didn’t run into another group which is my major problem with every haunted attraction I’ve been to. Makeup & Costumes were amazing. EXCELLENT props = movie quality (werewolf was the best!). The second floor was not as good as the first but it was still worth every penny. I would definitely come back and recommend this to everyone. It’s worth the drive and the price. Everyone here was extremely friendly and the actors actually cared about their jobs and wanted you to have a good time.

Makeup and costumes were awesome… Had lots of fun just wish this house was a little longer ! But a fun place :)

Two floors of awesomeness lol The wait time to get in was a little bit long but it was worth it. We didnt experience any problems. It was fun and scary.

It wasn’t bad. the actual attraction was reasonably well done for $ 20.
The issue I had was the lines. It was a 90 minute wait to get to the ticket booth. THEN there were 2 additional rooms of lines you couldn’t see from outside the building. Unlike most other haunted attractions, there isn’t anything to do or even porta-​pottys so people were pissing in the parking lot. I expect a wait for Halloween attractions but this seemed excessive.
Tip: don’t even bother unless you buy your tickets in advance. Advanced purchase seemed to cut the wait by half.

Although this was scary there were technical issues. we had cards around our neck that trigger videos. When we finished the attraction we waited 30 min in line to view our video. Upon waiting and not moving they informed us it wasn’t working and didn’t give us a free reentry or refund. I would loved to purchase a video of my reaction but they didn’t really seem to care about it being malfunctioned.

I go to haunted houses every weekend in late September-​October and this was the best haunted house of the 2013 Halloween season so far!
The line was kind of long, but there’s entertainment while you wait. The atmosphere and decorations were very awesome. I’m hard to scare, and I jumped and screamed quite a few times. It was a decent length. I didn’t feel gyped.
I deducted a couple stars for «The Attic». I felt like they took all of the stuff they didn’t know what to do with and stuck it on the second floor. It was a mishmash of cliché scare house creatures and decorations. After walking through the awesome downstairs, I felt the upstairs «attic» kind of cheapened it. There are a lot of creepy aspects about attics that don’t include clowns, straight jackets, and Michael Myers? Really?
Anyway, 5 stars for the downstairs, 1 star for The Attic.

Pretty good… I’m hard to scare, and they got me a few times, but if you scare easily, like my girlfriend, you’ll love it… she was terrified and screamed the whole time.
She had to keep the lights on that night when she went to bed.
Lines were kinda long (45 min on Sat at PM) and I could have done without the horror movie clips while waiting.
But, it was fun and got the adrenaline pumping.
