Soergel Orchards & Garden Center

I love Soergel’s! It is convenient! The staff is super friendly and very helpful. And the products are outstanding. They have everything a farmer’s market should and more. The bakery, yummy! They have pies, cookies, cakes, and brownies that are scrumptious. They have a deli area. They have homemade soups and lunch meats and pre-​made salads. They sell cider made there. Their fruits and veggies always look terrific (and taste it too). They have coffee and honey and chips and dips. They have syrups and home goods. And they have a little wine store which is amazing. The newest addition that I finally got to check out, Arsenal Cider. They sell growlers and they offer samples. It is a fabulous addition and I am sorry I had not been to their Lawrenceville location. Their products are delightful and as I was told by the staff helping me, they get their apples from Soergel’s. How awesomely fresh is that!:) They offer a rewards card which is amazing! They do get very busy in the fall… so much so that the traffic backs onto I-​79 but on a low key day it really is awesome and I love that we are so close!

Soergel’s is lovely! I needed to send something for a death so I Unilocaled because I’m in California and the recipient was not. Soergel’s came up so I took a chance and called. They were very accommodating and helpful. They put together a wonderful basket that was priced well under my budget (that never happens). The recipients really appreciated receiving the basket of fruits and treats and to make it even better, Soergel’s turned out to be a favorite of theirs. I really wish I lived near there so I could shop there rmyself.

I had a great time while I was at Soergel. I enjoyed the hard cider from Arsenal as well as the Amish donuts.
It is true there is no shortage of activities at Soergel. This makes it a prime fall destination for families and couples. That being said I simply can’t ignore the elephant in the room, I purchased a Rhubarb pie along with some other goodies from the market. The rhubarb pie was moldy, not on the top but under the crust. This is simple unacceptable for a pie at that price. It ruined my entire experience. I noticed this after I had already eaten a majority of the first slice of the pie the same day I purchased it. Needless to say I will not be purchasing anything other than hard cider and a pumpkin to carve if I ever return.

We were in the area to visit the Zen centre and decided to drop by to get some fresh apples. They were so crispy and juicy! Fun to check out their garden too.

I have lived close to Soergel Orchard’s for almost my whole life and it’s always a treat to visit. Whether you go during the Spring, Summer, or Fall, there is always something unique to discovery at Soergel’s.
It’s family-​friendly atmosphere makes it a joy for everyone in the family.
The petting zoo is always fun to visit when I go. They have billy goats, a donkey, some sheep and bubba the pig! Believe me, you WON’T miss Bubba when you see him.
They have tons of activities for the kids like a water trellis to find river rocks as well as a playground full of cute, wooden houses and vehicles that the kids can go in and climb on… I’ll admit it, occasionally I’ll climb on the pirate ship to relive my childhood. lol
Something new I just discovered is that Soergel’s hosts Arsenal hard cider in their back barn. They have around 10 different flavors. They give it to you in a to-​go jug and if you bring that jug back to refill it, you will get a discounted price. You can even get a different flavor the second time around!
The main market inside is full of produce, pastries, cheese & meats, décor items, gluten-​free foods, and so much more. You could spend hours inside their market finding unique foods and treats. You can even order daily lunch specials and eat them right there in their café. Their home & garden section has beautiful pieces of art and a lot of different arrangements for the changing seasons. My mom usually gets her seasonal wreaths made there and collaborates with the workers.
My favorite part of Soergel’s is definitely there Fall Festivals. It’s basically a pumpkin explosion everywhere and I just love it! They have them every weekend in the Fall. You can find festival foods like burgers, nachos, hotdogs, pulled pork, and of course apple cider. There are pony rides for the kids, corn mazes, pumpkin painting, and of course hayrides that take you up into the orchards to pick your pumpkins and apples. Only on Saturdays during their Fall Festivals will they have the Amish come and make on-​location donuts. The line will be long but you MUST wait in it because these donuts are TO DIE for. They’re the size of your face, and they are so warm and moist at first bite.
All in all, Soergel’s Orchards is just a fun place to visit with a beautiful atmosphere. It’s a staple of the community and something treasured amongst the people in it.

Soergel’s is a very nostalgic experience for me being that my parents would bring me here at least once a week when I was younger. It’s still very family oriented and any time I have made a return visit I see lots of little kids running around playing on the pirate ship playground or petting the animals at the small petting zoo. When I was younger, the highlight was the ginormous pot belly pigs, and although the one from my generation has since gone to piggy heaven, I believe they have new ones slopping around.
Like Trax in the South Hills, there is a fall festival every year that includes hay rides to the pumpkin patch. They also have unique events like farm to fork dinners, which I know are not necessarily inexpensive but they are well worth it (and bonus– in the past Wiggle Whiskey) has provided the drinks! In addition to a wine shop, Arsenal Cider now has an outpost here so those in the North Hills don’t have to cross a river to get their cider growler on!
They have a ton of gluten– free and allergen-​free products featured in «Naturally Soergel’s». They have a «pick your own» season for both strawberries and blueberries (highly recommended for a cheap but fun date!). There’s a gift barn on site as well that has some interesting knick knacks for sale. I also personally endorse the apple cider here– SO SO yummy! Lastly, my mom would be so disappointed if I didn’t plug her favorite feature of Soergel’s– on Mondays, if you’re 55 or older, you get a 10% discount off any purchase! you can definitely spend a couple hours roaming around here, especially with kids, and this is always a fun place to stop come pumpkin season!

Great weekend stop year round! They have all the goods you’d expect at a place like this (garden center with seasonal plants, local food/​bakery shop, handmade furniture, etc.), as well as a bunch of little shops scattered around the grounds. It’s almost like a mini town. My family loves to look through the gift shop. There are lots of expensive items of course, but there are many affordable ones too! We also have a Celiac in the family, so a stop at their health food store is always in order for some normally difficult to find grocery items.
My personal favorite is their new addition of the Arsenal Cider cellar. The décor is very fitting– old wood barrels for the tables and a big American flag on the wall– and the staff is so knowledgeable and fun! They make great suggestions and offer free samples of everything. Most ciders are about $ 8 a glass and range from $ 15 – 27 for a growler if I remember correctly (less for a refill). The raspberry cider was sweet and tart and perfect. I highly recommend :)
I can’t wait to come back in the fall and enjoy some cider after picking out some pumpkins!

What more can you want from a local farm and market? From cute animals in a small petting zoo area (with feed for purchase) to the wine and cider cellar, the pick-​your-​own berries to the delicious Perry’s ice cream bar, from the gift shop to the garden center to the actual market with fresh crops, you could probably spend a whole afternoon here. The staff are friendly, and there are lots of things to check out. The sheep, donkeys, and pigs are well-​receiving of visitors at their pens, as are the farm dogs that we played with (Brew and Josie). There were still a ton of ripe berries left for picking even for late July up the hill. Ice cream is delicious (kid’s size is pretty big!), as are the ciders in the bar, both great for cooling down after berry picking. The market has a lot of their own fruits and vegetables, and all at very reasonable prices. It’s a bit far away from the city but really worth the drive.

Soergels orchard is a great place to come all year around. Fresh fruits and veggies cold ice cream ready to eat foods the new cider house. Great little shops and awesome variety of gluten free and allergen free products

Freshly fried Amish donuts on first Saturdays! So large and fatty — loved the regular and maple-​glazed. Though, we were shorted a donut (after clarifying our order x3…) I am also confused how they are allowed to use electric mixers, though. Fresh corns were amazing and didn’t require any salt/​pepper/​butter.

Overall I feel like this is the Trax Farms of the North Hills. Met a friend here on the weekend and walked around to the various «attractions». We spent most of our time in the market to pick up a few speciality items like apple butter, salsa, rock candy, etc.
The weather was beautiful so it was a great chance to be outside. I enjoyed that they also had an ice cream stand where they serve Perry’s ice cream. Luckily it wasn’t overly crowded when we went but I can imagine that this place gets insanely crowded during events and such.
Great way to spend an hour or so in an afternoon!

After a bad experience at another nursery I came to Soergel’s to buy some flowers. The two young men working in the Garden Center are great. They knew where everything was and carried everything to the counter and then to my car. This is my new go-​to garden center.

Soergels is perfect for little family or school outings and their market has just about anything you could be looking for. Its the perfect place to get specialty sauces and spreads as well.

Updated on 20 140 731 — I drive by Jergel’s in the morning many days of the week. This morning I pulled in for some coffee which they advertise in small signs. A gentlemen came out (Jergel’s family?), and coffee was brought to the car. I found out the coffee is FREE. Yes, free. Drive up and get free coffee, and a pleasant conversation in the 6:30 am time of the morning. I continue to be impressed with the local, cultural/​regional institution.

I had heard about Soergel from a co-​worker and decided to check it out after work earlier this week. As I pulled into the parking lot, I was very surprised that (a) Soergel is huge and (b) Soergel is located conveniently near 79.
I started in the front and main grocery building. I didn’t take a good look at all of their fruits and veggies, but from a distance, they looked delicious. I wandered around the little bakery section and was a bit disappointed by both selection and by ingredients. I was expecting bakery products made from minimal, quality ingredients, which did not seem to be the case.
However, the main reason that I was at Soergel was to check out a special grocery building particularly for dietary restrictions. I actually didn’t notice it at first, so don’t feel badly having to ask an associate how to get there. The focus of this little shop was primarily for gluten-​free and vegan diets. As someone with some nut and soy allergies, I did find a few things that would work for me. My best find? I’m obsessed with Nutella but was diagnosed with a hazelnut allergy recently. They carry a delightful dark chocolate and peanut butter mixture that is similar to Nutella and very delicious.

This rating is specifically for the Naturally Soergel shop on-​site… (should I make another listing for that?)
Anyways, you want gluten-​free goodness, you got it! The store was a lot larger than I expected. Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff — so incredibly helpful. They sell everything from frozen foods/​meals to baking products to pantry items to loose teas and SO MUCH MORE (located sweet treats: delivered 2x/​week, from Squirrel Hill’s Gluuteney). Products are color-​coded too.
You can’t see the shop from the street, btw — it’s down one of the service drives. You can park near the garden center and walk around though if you miss the drive.
Recent random shopping list: chicken nuggets, homemade twinkies (!!!), mission fig «newtons,» hot dog buns, and those yogurt-​covered pretzels from Glutino. Soergel’s made me a five-​star happy GF’er!

I go here whenever I can. I love supporting local farmers instead of big supermarket chains. My kids love the petting zoo. My wife and I love the Amish donuts and frankly, the pastries are why I’m the Duke of 2 gyms.
In the fall, they have rides to the pumpkin patch where you can go and buy pumpkins. My boys love the hay rides with the tractor and the old fashioned fire truck. They do the same thing in the spring when the Easter bunny comes.
We buy our spring/​summer plants here from the greenhouse, and when we can our produce.
It’s a great experience all around, and I try to support them whenever I can.

This place is absolutely incredible. One of my co-​workers told me about it over lunch when I asked her about the sandwich she was eating. «Go get some of their turkey breast, it’s fresh!» she said. So, I ventured across I-​79 and spent the next 90 minutes wandering through the store with my eyes wide open and my mouth agape at the amazing offering of fresh ingredients.
There are too many great things about this place to go into many details, but they do offer a wonderful selection of house-​made deli items, a great selection of fresh vegetables, mind-​blowing corn when it’s in season, and a bakery that makes some of the most delicious items I’ve had anywhere.
The staff are friendly and helpful, and were helpful whenever I had to ask about inventory or recommendations. It’s a great place for those of us who like to eat fresh and local! Will definitely be back!

I stumbled onto this place completely by accident, as I was driving to the little restaurant and mall strip across the street for a work event. Being a fan of Trax Farms, I had to stop and peek in to see if this place is anything like Trax.
It is! I haven’t been to Trax recently enough to declare, yes, this place is better, but man, they’re pretty darn close in the «awesome» category.
Fresh produce, grown locally AND organically? Check. Deli? Check. Bakery? Check. Garden supplies? Check. Heck, even the set-​up is pretty darn neat: in addition to the main shopping center there’s a garden center, Amish furniture store, cider press and gift barn.
All of this hidden in a little gem of a business in Wexford — who knew?
From what everyone else is saying, there will be plenty of events happening here in the future once the last of the winter weather is gone — for now, Soergels will definitely be a place I keep in mind as I’m running home from work and need to pick up any last minute groceries. Or gifts — I know a lot of people who would love some of the things being sold here!

This is now my go to fall place!
I used to be a die hard Trax Farm lover but, I like this place so much more! They offer tons of activities for kids including hay rides, pony rides, a feeding/​petting zoo, a mini corn maze, a small playground with a wooded train, a wooded monster truck and a doll house town with a jail and general store that kids can go inside of. We didn’t get to do the hay ride as the line was super long. We just walked up the hill to the pumpkin patch as me needed to work off our huge Original Pancake House breakfast anyway. They offered a good selection of huge pumpkins.
Soergel is divided up into five buildings, the market, garden center, Amish furniture store, Cider Press and Gift Barn.
Our daughter really liked watching the Cider Press. You actually get to see cider being made. I’m not a apple cider fan at all but, theirs is delicious! They also have a huge apple tent with about 10different types of apples. Perfect for apple pie.
I also recommend visiting the Amish furniture store. Everything is made of solid wood. Furniture is just not made like that anymore. The level of detail was exquisite. My favorite piece was a highchair made out of Oak I believe. It could last for a lifetime.
My wife loved the gift barn, a store that had all types of nicknacks from stationary, teas, clocks, scarves, hats and mittens, candles on the bottom floor and lots of toys up on the third floor but the highlight of the trip was the market.
It has everything from wine, produce, vegan, organic, and gluten-​free products, candy, a bakery, a deli, an ice cream shop and a garden center. I got a pastrami sandwich and my wife got a pastrami sandwich from the deli. It was on of the best sandwiches we have ever had! The meat was freshly sliced and delicious! $ 3.99 for a sandwich that good I would drive there just for the deli!
We also got ice cream. The red velvet was epic!
If Soergel is good enough for Tom Cruise and his family than it’s good enough for me!
