Jen, my waitress at the bar was fabulous!!! I asked for a Mai Tai — she confessed she didn’t have all the ingredients, but asked me to ‘trust her’ :) Good decision — it was awesome! My next drink was the Espresso Martini! By far and away — the BEST one I’ve ever had! They make it with REAL espresso — it made all the difference! Oh yes — my meal was awesome too: I had seen a fried egg burger on the Unilocal menu, but didn’t see it on the menu I was looking at — I asked Jen about it, and she said it was on their lunch menu, but that she would do it up for me. It came out cooked perfectly and piping hot, along with my sweet potato fries — delicious! Highly recommend this place!

First visit and so glad I discovered. It’s a charming area and wonderful building. The décor is wonderful, atmosphere comfortable, and staff is fantastic. They are accommodating, eager to please, and the food is very good. It’s well worth going. The calamari is excellent, the pasta dish is superb, I enjoyed a Kale and Mussel soup special, Scottish salmon entrée, and the value and quality is worthy of accolades. I definitely will return. Upstairs dining is preferred in my opinion. Not a huge menu, but the selection is adequate.

Recently read about this place in the Hartford Magazine and wanted to give it a try. It got great reviews and we were not disappointed. We shared a Mussels soup which was to die for as a starter. My husband had the guacamole burger and I had one of the specials — Tuscan meatballs on a bed of mashed cauliflower. Everything was delicious! Our waiter, John, was great — attentive but not«hovering», helpful with suggestions and just very nice. We’ll definitely be back again — hopefully soon!

This is an absolute must for when I’m visiting the northeast. Quaint, classic ambience with a great menu selection. Very flavorful. The drinks are very well executed as well.

I went here with my girlfriend and had Joey and his trainee Guy as my servers. They were professional and personable. They offered great suggestions from the menu. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a burger and my girlfriend had a chicken gyro. The atmosphere was spectacular. We were seated in what seemed like a private section of a beautiful colonial house. Will definitely return. Great experience!!!

Had a fabulous dinner tonight at Lucky Lou’s. I had the cod special with chive mashed and blood orange reduction. Perfectly cooked and tasted fantastic. So glad they are opened again for the New Year! Wethersfield is «lucky» to have Lucky Lou’s!

Had one of the specials, cod with blood orange sauce. The blood orange sauce was ah-mazing. Practically licked the plate clean. Waiter was John, cool guy. Food came out quickly too!

I had a really, really good lobster roll here. Our party of 8 is picky and no complaints in our group. Presentation was nice, service was on point and the drinks were well made. A lot of attention to detail here and a big emphasis on fresh everything. The owner is hands on and he keeps the staff customer focused. Can’t wait to visit again in warmer weather. The outdoor patio looks really inviting. Worth the trip!

Dined recently with a large group. We are former/current coworkers who wanted to catch up for the holidays. We were seated right away and our waitress was very friendly, attentive, and patient. We mostly ordered apps, and everyone was satisfied with the food. Decent selection of drinks– Goose Island, yes! Lucky Lou’s does a great job of making the apps easily shareable. Oddly, there was no background music where we were seated on the upper level. I felt as though we were back in grammar school and needed to use our«inside voices». It seemed as if the neighboring tables might be bothered by our banter. Perhaps some ambience of even just low classical music would cut through the ice a bit. That’s my only nitpick. Otherwise, a solid place!

Lou’s is mainly focused on semi-casual food, with good burgers & wings, and lots of fresh seafood options. The fish tacos and crab cakes are my favorites. Their patio is very dog-friendly — they even have water dishes outside. Friendly staff. Never had a bad experience here.

Went for lunch today and cannot wait to go back. The calamari was much better than the typical fried calamari and would defiantly get that again. I had the arugula salad with chicken it was a HUGE portion and was perfect. He had the classic cheeseburger and said it was really good. I’m looking forward to trying more things on the menu.

We came to old Wethersfield for a witch tour at the Webb Deane Stevens Museum which was an interesting, informative and entertaining day! After the tour we shopped around and looked for a place to eat straight across the street was Lucky Lous. It’s a large historical building with trendy New England dishes prepared to culinary perfection. The service was friendly and spot on! fish and chips were light and flakey the lobster roll was to die for and the shepherds pie was a delightful experience!!! The owner Lucas send over homemade desserts with our espresso and cappuccino’s. It’s the perfect end to a perfect fall day in CT. Thanks Lou

It was really nice weather and my husband and I wanted to dine outside. We decided to go to Lucky Lou’s in Old Wethersfield. As soon as we arrived, a really nice gentleman greeted us and told us we could choose any unoccupied table outside. We were then greeted by a sweet waitress, Tia, and she took our drink orders and presented the specials to us. Even though the place was packed, Tia was still attentive and personable as well as professional. My husband ordered shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and he was very pleased by the size of the shrimp and the preparation of the unique cocktail sauce. I ordered the Saffron Seafood Chowder, which was out of this world! For the entrée, my husband ordered the Rhode Island clam strips which were clean tasting and cooked just perfectly. Not greasy at all! I ordered the special which was a Halibut with aioli pesto and pumpkin seeds on top of a butternut squash with porcini mushroom risotto. This was a great choice as it was perfectly seasoned with a slight kick to it. The portions were just enough so we had room for dessert. Tia brought out a couple cups of coffee and the most delicious, light Lemon berry cheesecake with fresh blueberry topping. It was absolutely delicious. As always, Lucky Lou’s is one of our favorite restaurants for excellent food and atmosphere!

Food is awesome. Fried calamari, jumbo shrimp and the lobster sliders were the bomb. The set up is in a historical building. The bar and the kitchen area are very very small. It can’t be expanded because of the regulations for historical buildings in Wethersfield. As a result, you have to put up with slower wait time even though they have a ton of staff. But, the reward is a huge brick outdoor patio. And you can think back to what that building and area of town was like during the American Revolution. Very very cool.

Having never been to Lucky Lou’s before, my quartet took me there. The server was incredibly friendly and attentive. We ordered several items, sharing from our dishes because we decide on just one dish. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was quiet and casual. It was a lovely place to get together for a nice meal with that special someone or with a group. You didn’t have to shout over loud music to talk to people. It was great. This place is kid friendly. And in the summer I am pretty sure the outside patio is the perfect setting for a romantic gathering. Great food and great drinks. The espresso martini was fabulous. The bartender actually came out to our table to see how we were enjoying our

First time here dining in lovely and quaint Old Wethersfield and I feel lucky to have stopped in here. Very nice spot, great old wood interior and very decent outside dining space. We ate outside on a great autumn day. The noise in low, and the owners are savvy enough to play the music low enough to hear and not to interrupt conversation. The Caesar salad came with diced tomatoes and capers(that may be mentioned in the menu) and the dressing is fabulous. The burgers and generous and cooked to perfection. I was very impressed. You may know how it is when you crave a burger and it comes out perfect. We also have the calamari appetizer which was fantastic with hot peppers. It’s my favorite way to have it and again I was not disappointment. I would absolutely come back here and would look forward to trying it for dinner some time.

I was looking for another restaurant with outdoor seating and a fun, casual vibe to visit this summer, and found Lucky Lou’s on Unilocal. I enjoy that the establishment is in an old house, with dining in different rooms and the bar in its own, the room to the right when you walk in. The restrooms are all the way to the back, and are large and clean. It looks like there may be seating upstairs as well, although I didn’t venture up there. It reminds me of a restaurant in St. Paul that I really like. The décor and the layout are great, and the outside seating area is large, with wrought iron tables and chairs spread out over the outside patio area. Many tables have umbrellas for shade, and dogs are allowed. We started with the dirty wings in the jerk pineapple flavor, which were very good. They came with a blue cheese that was a little runny but tasty. I was in the mood for seafood and had been hoping that their lobster sliders were available, but since they weren’t the waitress did allow me to order off of the dinner menu, and I had a seafood salad roll(scallop, lobster, and shrimp) with parmesan fries. My friend ordered the Guacamole Burger with fries(and for some reason asked for a medium-well done burger). A couple of times the waitress came back to ask us if she’d asked us something already, which was a little weird. She also forgot my friend’s ice tea. It wasn’t a big deal, and she was busy, just worth noting. The seafood roll was very good, and I enjoy the way the fries are cooked. I was told the burger was good as well, although I didn’t try it myself. I will definitely be back here, especially if I can make it for some of the live music that apparently plays on the weekends. When I visited, I had just returned from a week-long trip to Las Vegas and had zero desire to have a drink, but next time I would like to try the cocktails. I also noticed that wine is served in nice stemless wineglasses, and thought I’d like to have a glass there sometime.
