History

Established in 1990.

Started as a wholesaler of stone for the Kitchen countertop market by importing stone from all over the world and distributing in the New England market. The most important objective is to provide support to homeowners so they will be happy with their kitchen countertops for a long time. Since the early days, Marble and Granite has provided a huge showroom so homeowners can choose the actual slabs that would be used in their project. Our website, which was created since the beginning of the internet era, now provides a virtual warehouse with photos showing up to the minute inventory, pricing, support for care and maintenance, and a network of fabricators to get quotes. Homeowners will be more prepared after visiting the Marble and Granite showroom/​warehouses or website. An educated homeowner is a satisfied customer.

Business Owner

After working for several years at a stone fabricator in Boston, Gian Luca decided to start his own business because of the lack of support that fabricators and homeowners were experiencing when buying stone at wholesalers. From the very beginning, Gian Luca focused on keeping Marble and Granite at the frontier of technology by investing heavily in IT to maximize efficiency in the wholesale stone industry. Yet his primary focus is always providing a great experience for the ultimate customer, the homeowner. Today, Gian Luca maintains the Marble and Granite team ahead of competitors by continually finding and employing new materials, new communications, and new technology. They sent the wrong granite to our fabricator. One of the two slabs that we took months to pick and paid for back in October has now been sold to someone else. To make things worse they’re denying any responsibility, have been extremely rude and are taking their time trying to resolve the issue, which is delaying the closing of our house among other issues. Our house is part of a development and we will be sure to send other home builders elsewhere.

I walked into the showroom and explained to the salesperson that I was replacing granite counter tops and wanted granite because of its durability. I had marble in my bathroom and it etched like crazy so anything that etched was not what I wanted. I clearly asked that he show me where the granite was because that’s what I wanted. I found a stone a liked and looked it up on their website where it was listed in the granite section. The name was Corteccia Quartzite. I didn’t know that Quartzite was not granite. Even after multiple discussions about wanting granite, no one mentioned that Quartzite was a different stone and it etches just like marble. I guess they were anxious to make the sale since the product is very expensive. The counter tops were installed 6 months ago. Since then my husband and I have only been at our home about 3 of the 6 months and the counter tops are not only etched but have started to chip in several places. Treating them to prevent further etching would be $ 5,000 and simply fixing the current chipping, which is likely to continue will be $ 500.
If you are not an expert, I strongly recommend looking someplace else. The salespeople are very busy and not willing to try to share information that a normal consumer might not know.

I echo what all others have said. We looked at M&G products and at their competition up the road and we really found the customer service at M&G to be outstanding. Mike spent a lot of time reviewing product with us and we received some extra special attention from Jonathan Verrengia, the sales manager. We were struggling to find the exact product for our kitchen remodel and Jonathan, in particular, was very helpful in guiding us to our soapstone. We were able to see several different lot variations while visiting the warehouse. Our order was processed very quickly and our slabs were delivered to our fabrictor (A&S Stone in Billerica/​Topsfield) in a timely fashion. The slabs have been installed and we absolutely love the final product. We would not have even considered soapstone without Jonathan’s input and we couldn’t have come to a better final choice for our kitchen. Although pricing at all suppliers is difficult to figure out, we feel that we were treated fairly on the pricing side. Many of the slabs even have pricing available to the consumer through a QR app on one’s phone.
Will go straight to M&G for our next stone purchase. In the end, it was the least stressful portion of our kitchen remodel.
Would also like to give a plug for A&S Stone Fabrictors (www.aandsstone). They did a wonderful job fabricating and installing our soapstone, were extremely responsive to any and all questions and were fairly priced. My calls and emails were answered and returned almost immediately, unlike several other fabricators who I never heard back from or who took several days to return calls or emails. Anthony is a great guy to deal with and made the process very easy.

My wife and I are pretty addicted to evaluating «customer experience,» both professionally and as consumers. We were sent to Marble & Granite to select some countertop materials for bath remodeling. Overall, our expectations were exceeded down the line, from the ease of getting an appointment on short notice, to the well-​laid out and attractive showrooms — with LOTS of samples displayed for ease of viewing — to finding exactly what we were looking for and signing off with Mike, our representative. A class act.

We are building a house and came to Marble and Granite to select a piece of granite for our kitchen. I agree with Steve B. that their hours are restrictive, but once we got there I forgot all about that issue. The process of making an appointment and making arrangements to see what we wanted was easy online and by phone. Our representative is engaging and energetic, the inventory is stunning, and the whole experience is like visiting an art gallery! We highly recommend this supplier!

I visited the showroom recently to choose marble for my bathroom vanity. Long drive to Norwood for me, but totally worth it. Salesperson Marle was knowledgeable and delightful to work with. The inventory I looked at was remarkable. Beautiful stone slabs, carefully arranged in a well-​lit showroom. I was able to make my selection very easily. This is will be the only source for marble or granite in the future.

I am a designer out of Colorado and have worked with countless granite suppliers across the U.S. My experience with Mike at Marble & Granite was fabulous. Not only did he pull out slabs I was interested in prior to arriving, but throughout the visit was constantly making suggestions of additional products we might want to take a look at. He was ready to help, but never pushy. The facility is extremely well organized with lots of space to view slabs from a decent distant away. In addition they were able to place slabs side by side for viewing which made it easy for my clients to see multiple slabs working together. Lastly, with a second location in CT and stock information on his ipad, Mike was able to tell us immediately if additional slabs were available. The entire experience was top notch and I highly recommend this company, and Mike for any of your slab needs.

How refreshing to visit a granite and marble showroom that is clean, well lit, nicely organized AND has helpful and pleasant staff waiting and willing to assist. Marlie could not have been more delightful to work with or accommodating to our requests of viewing multiple slabs. This was our 6th showroom and next time it will be our first. When you find fabulous inventory and great customer service it is a win-​win.

Great experience! Huge, and beautiful, inventory…
I am finishing up with renovations to the first floor of our house, focused mostly on a complete tear down and reconstruction of the kitchen. There were a million decisions to make, and one of the easiest pieces of the process was going to Marble and Granite to pick out the stone for our counter tops. I’m really happy with the stone I selected and the service I got when I visited Marble and Granite in Westwood. The staff person who helped me was very knowledgeable, always cheerful, and never pressured me. They didn’t mind when I came at lunchtime or in late afternoon, 30 minutes before closing. (I did return a couple of times to make sure that I really liked the choice I made, and to look at the stone along with a tile sample and the color of the wood stain being used on the cabinets.)
They explained what products I’d want to use in re-​sealing my stone in the future, and discussed fabricators with me. My granite (and my experience in buying it) is one of the best things about my new kitchen! The selection of stones there is truly enormous and they are well displayed so it’s easy to walk around and see them all. I highly recommend Marble and Granite.
