Slow service. The staffs were rude, especially the old one after the cashier when we went to pay for the food. The food is not so good. We were glad to find a place that open late till a. m but other than that, I don’t like it here.

This restaurant opens very late. The food here is amazing, but the customer service can vary. The menu varies in prices. Some entrees can either be very cheap or a little pricey. I usually come here and order their bo luc lac and macaroni. They give you lemon and salt & pepper sauce to dip, but I usually avoid using it because the sauce is solid and way too bitter.

Great place for meals after late nigth. After 11pm they have a different menu, but if you still want family meals adked for it, they still serve. I love the ca kho to here, it is pretty good.

Very rude service! First time here and I will never come here again. I don’t want to be rude or anything but the older servers have a very disgusting attitude, the younger one are okay. I have a question about the food that I was ordering and I was trying to request it but the server keep shutting me off and said” what ever we have is what ever we have” all I wanted to ask was that can I have a smaller piece. I couldn’t even finish my sentences. I try to ask 3 times and the server shut me off all 3 times. If I can give 0 star I would but the least I can give is 1 star.

The food is really good but the people there are not very nice! If they just add more table it would also be better so i only give it a 2 if ok not the best but OK!!! I love the catfish but the fish is so little only if they cook more of the fish GOSH!!!

Thanh My Restaurant is a Vietnamese style dinner restaurant. I rarely come through here anymore but back in the days I used to hit this spot a lot. Come through and order their ca kho and canh chua with some rice and you are pretty much set.
The ca kho is a pretty good here though it can be a bit salty at times. They lack a bit of consistency in my books but its not a bad joint. The canh chua also seems to be lacking something too. Its not quite flavorful but definitely not bad either. Back in the day, before other competition popped up, this place used to be so lively and packed. I remember having to wait to be seated but now its always empty when I come through. Still if I’m in dire need of some homestyle cooking I’d come through here.
Overall, its a nice dinner type of environment. Nothing too fancy, just a quick homecooking type of atmosphere. The prices are reasonable and the service actually is really really friendly so thats a plus. Its a good Viet restaurant.

My first and also last time been here.
First of all the service was really bad and food was not that good. They try to cost us more money on wat we not want to eat.
Never go here again.

Come here with some friends. Ordered some bun rieu and bun Bo hue, the bun taste no flavor at all, the service take too long. they even forget one order, then we have to call them several time to remind.
Remember if you coming here more than 6 people, they will charge extra 15% for the tip.

Went here as per recommendation of our friends, and were pretty amazed at the large selection of the Vietnamese food there. They had everything, from broken rice, phở, pork broth noodle, seven courses of beef, grilled dishes, and even the traditional family dishes that you can share among your group, family style.
As a group of 6, we ordered pretty much different dishes from different categories.
For myself, I ordered the braised catfish in clay pot (see attached picture), and it was super yummy! It was sweet, but salty, and the fish meat was very tender. The saltiness wasn’t too much, they gave me some cucumbers to help with it, and also some rice. Would love to come back and try some of the other dishes sometime soon.

The wait at 8PM on a Saturday wasn’t as bad as one would think. We were seated pretty quickly with just a 10 minute wait. The service was also great, we were attended to by the waitress after the right amount of time; the food was served quickly also.
Moving on to the food, I would only say that it was decent. We ended up ordering wonton noodles, rice in clay pot (com tay cam), beef noodle stew, and the egg roll vermicelli bowl. The wonton noodles were slightly bland to the tasting, it needs a bit more seasoning. As for the beef noodle stew, we didn’t like it. It was just off for me, but then again, maybe it was because the taste just wasn’t to my liking. Feel free to try this dish out, and test it since I just didn’t like it. Moving on to the egg roll vermicelli; I think this item did pretty good, I love the simplicity of the cuisine and the egg rolls were good! Last but not least the rice in clay pot. I have to say, it was amazing! I loved the way it’s presented and the flavor of the rice and small vermicelli inside. I would definitely order this again!

Whenever I find myself in this area and it’s late at night, I keep ending up here forgetting that I’ve previously eaten here before. This place is open until 1:30 am and had a pretty good menu that has things other than only phở.
Unfortunately, they seem to have changed their entire menu since the last time I’ve been here, or they have a late-​night limited menu. The selection when I strolled in around 11 pm on a Monday was mostly noodle soups and bun/​com dishes. I scoured the menu for appetizers and found none. That was moderately disappointing.
So I ended up getting seafood phở. I don’t know whether I was super hungry and maybe that influenced it, but it was the best seafood phở i’ve had in the last few years. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the seafood wasn’t fishy, overcooked, or gross, and the broth wasn’t smattered with too much MSG.
My friend claims that his com bo luc lac was nasty. The sauce was slimy and the taste seemed off. So, I’ll have to let you guys know about that and knock off a star.
I forgot that I also ordered Thai tea and it was really good. Warning, I like sugar and there was a ton of it in this drink so if you’re sensitive to sugar headaches I probably wouldn’t order it here.
If you’re looking for BOGO phở or 3.99 phở this isn’t the place for you. It’s still cheap but not that cheap.

Cheap eats.
Wow, I mean really cheap eats! We finished our adventure at Disneyland and needed some food to dine on. This place really has good and cheap eats.
If you want a late night snack, join all the other Vietnamese folks looking for a tasty snack.
The food is good, very Vietnamese. If that makes any sense. Although everything on Bolsa is very Vietnamese.
I think this is a family owned restaurant so i’m giving an extra star for the local guys.

The place smelled kind of dirty. I wasn’t very hungry so I ordered the crab soup and shrimp spring rolls. It was both okay, nothing great or amazing. My bf got the shaken beef, but the portion size wasn’t that big.
The waiters were hard to track down, they never looked at you or was always somewhere else.

Thanh My may be the Denny’s of the Vietnamese culinary world just like Suehiro is for the Japanese culinary realm in Little Tokyo, DTLA. TM stays open late till 2:30am on Fri/​Sat & 1:30am Sun-​Thur for those who are clubbing late or just plain night owls who want something to nosh on without having to eat nasty fast food.
The setting is Dennyish w/​a Vienamese touch of help yourself stack of utensils, & condiments like hoisin sauce, sriracha, chile sauce, Nuoc Mam/​fish sauce, pickled fresh jalapeño on a polished granite table top. Service is perfunctory, no nonsense, and the servers give an impression of «know what to order», but there can be subtle friendliness by some of the waiters.
1) Bun Cha Gio Heo Nuong: Boiled thin rice pasta that reminds me of Capelli d’Angeli, fried Vietnamese egg roll w/​minced pork, glass noodle, mixed veggie, white pepper, garlic, Nuoc Man infused force meat surrounded by crispy light rice paper wrapper which is far superior to the Chinese wheat wrapper based egg roll that is more bready, lacking that teeth shattering crunchiness of the Vietnamese style.
The grilled pork seems marinated in Nuoc Mam, soy sauce, sugar to give the meat a sweet, moist porky Umami. There are lettuce, beansprouts, ground peanuts, shredded lightly pickled Daikon radish & carrots for a refreshing counterpoint to the fish funky Umami of Nuoc Cham/​diluted, sweetened fish sauce. Sriracha, crushed red chile sauce, pickled jalapeño, etc. can be added to taste. This noodle dish is light, refreshing, flavourful & as good as most other Vietnamese eateries.
2) According to Unilocaler Lisa W., in her great review she promoted: «hu tieu kho thanh my is also amazing. It’s their house special pork and seafood soup that is savory and full of delicious things like crab, shrimp, roast pork and fried dumplings.» Thanks to Unilocal Lisa W. for that description.
I chose the version w/​a flavourful chicken broth on the side to add or use as a dipping sauce. The noodles are not «Bun» which is just boiled. The rice noodle in the Hu Tieu Kho Thanh seems to be also oil based sautéed w/​possibly Nuoc Nam & soy sauce so that the flavor is richer & texture is springier than the plain Bun.
Raw, crunchy, refreshing, watery beansprouts & fresh Shungiku/​chrysanthemum leaves added a nice light vegetal herbal touch as a contrast to all the meaty flavours of the roast pork, fish terrine, fried stuffed dumplings, ground pork in tomato sauce, quail egg, crab as well as the heavier tasting, textured sautéed rice pasta. Of course, chile sauces can be used to add more piquancy & act as a gastrique to enliven the flavours.
1−2a) Export 33 is a Vietnam produced light lager style beer. It’s a refreshing counterpoint to all the complex flavours that is presented in the various ingredients to make up Hu Tieu Kho Thanh. The iced tea is of a Vietnam variety that is highly diluted for an almost imperceptible flavor & bouquet, but is a good thirst quencher on hot days as well as cooling the tongue if too much hot sauce is applied.
My waitress w/​glasses & coifed bun in the back at around 11:30pm, Aug 25^th was most helpful in helping me w/​the proper Vietnamese pronunciation of the things I had ordered, & translated Vietnamese words so that in the future, I could decipher certain key words in the Vietnamese cuisine. So kind of her to take the time & effort.
Thanh My, the Denny’s of Vietnam, is middle of the road in terms of culinary competence for a 3+ Unilocal rating for food. But the helpful waitress & the charm of Thanh My that stays open very late to accommodate night owls like me when many Vietnamese eateries close by 9pm make me want to up to 4– Unilocal stars for being so entrepreneurial.

My parents wanted to take me out for lunch but really, they just wanted me to drive them to Westminster for the day. My parents knew I really love eating the claypot fish so they suggested to come here. When we arrived, we found out that they were sold out of fish for the day. This was only 10:30 in the morning. They just open, how can they run out of such an important item?
I was bum but ended up ordering the banh xeo. The banh xeo was cooked nice and crispy. It was very flavorful with shrimp, pork, bean sprouts, and onion. Way too much bean sprouts for me. My mom ordered a rice dish with grilled bbq pork and steam egg. The pork and egg had good flavor. My dad got noodles with egg rolls and char-​grill pork. First, my dad thought his order look like a small portion but in the end, he said it was just enough. They also gave us us dessert at the end of our meal.
This place was okay. I think, I will be back to try out their claypot fish.

My friend describes this place as «life changing»… I think it’s pretty good
Saw a few tables with a green drink so had to try it. It was Pennyworth which is supposed to be very healthy. It was herby and refreshing
We ordered many dishes to share:
*Clams: very garlicky in a tasty broth
*Big Appetizer sampler: you wet your rice wrapper then add meat, lettuce, sauce
*Broken rice
All dishes were good. They also have a more traditional menu which I believe had a green cover with some family combos.
Servers were older but friendly and funny.
Would definitely come back!

I came here for dinner with a friend. It was pretty empty and my expectations for food around this area aren’t always the highest. I ended up getting broken rice (com tam) with grilled pork (I have no idea what that is in Vietnamese, I’m sorry). It was much better than I expected but it wasn’t super amazing. I liked it :)
The service was very quick but they brought out our orders separate (I always think that’s a little odd but its alright). Overall, the restaurant looked pretty clean (I approve! I’m pretty picky about that haha). AND they take card (one of the few restaurants in this area that does. Always bring cash when you’re in bolsa/​westminster area and you’re going to a vietnamese place). Prices are decent as well.
This is a place that I would eat at again if someone really insists on going there, but it wouldn’t be somewhere that I suggest we go eat. Does that make sense? It’s not bad but it’s not great, only okay… hence the 3 stars.

Since I have no clue how to get around Little Saigon, I rely on my friends to bring me here every once in a blue moon. Today, my friend and his kid were going for their haircuts nearby and it seems they always make it a point to either come here or another nearby Vietnamese restaurant for lunch before heading to the salon. I was told that this is one of their favorite.
Located in one of the typical strip malls, the restaurant is located right off the street. Very typical cheapie casual Asian restaurant décor… this is how they manage to keep the prices so low. I felt like something hot and soupy so ordered the Wonton and Egg Noodles Soup (#151). My friend ordered the Rice Vermicelli in Ground Shrimp and Crab Paste Tomato Flavored Broth (#106) and the Platter of Steamed Rice Vermicelli Patties, Char-​grilled Shrimp and Pork (#23).
The broth for my wonton noodles was actually very good… full of yummy flavor and piping hot. The wontons were very tasty and a good size… the skin was probably cooked a bit long, but still held up quite well. It also came with bbq pork slices, but I passed these to my friend. The noodles were well cooked… firm and tasty. Overall, a very good and satisfying bowl of noodles. Oh yea, you get the usual plate of raw bean sprouts, green chili slices, and lime wedges to put in your soup.
I got to taste just a spoonful of my friend’s soup (from his bowl of noodles) and a small lump of the ground shrimp and crab paste… the soup tasted very different from what I’m used to at a Vietnamese Phở place, but it was actually very tasty.
The char-​grilled pork and shrimp was quite interesting. With it came a big plate of lettuce leaves, mint, a plate of cucumber and radish (I think), and fish sauce. Put your protein, veggies, and fish sauce all in a lettuce like a wrap and eat… yum.
I liked the food at this place, the prices are cheap, and the service was quite good for this type of place, but I probably won’t drive all the way there on my own. I guess it’ll be another month till I get to eat here as it’ll be time for my friend to get his hair cut again :)

O-​M-​G! This is as good as it gets! If you love Vietnamese food, then you will love Thanh My! I always come here with my mom and my hubby. We always get the same thing! It never gets old!
At the back of the menu, there is a section for combo meals preset for the number of people eating! We get the two family combo set for the three of us and it’s more than enough. It comes with a beef salad, claypot fish, and sour fish soup (ca canh chua). The three entrees are made to perfection each and every time. I have not had one time where the taste was off. Always flavorful! Sometimes they even give you a small cup of dessert (che). Sooo worth it!
I can’t write anymore about it because I am craving it already too much. Go and see for yourself!

Better service with a smaller group.
Same taste as last time. Everything is a bit too salty and I did get that chest numbness and neck numbness when a restaurant puts too much MSG. But it was still good, just need white rice to wash out the saltiness.
