It’s to bad that these guys are typical used car salesmen! I wouldn’t trust them if my life depended on it! I went in to test drive a Volvo and then brought it to my Volvo mechanic I’ve been seeing in Boulder, CO for 20 years. On my way out of Stan’s, the salesman said that if I thought they were going to fix $ 5,000 worth of repairs, they wouldn’t do that, so I said, if there were $ 5,000 worth of repairs, let’s save both of us some time and I’ll skip the inspection. The salesman said that there weren’t those kind of repairs needed, so we scheduled the $ 110 inspection.
When we brought it in, the mechanic said he’d buy the car for half price, that it needed $ 2,145 in repairs immediately and $ 3,100 during year 1. I was horrified and called Stan himself to discuss this, he dismissed my concerns and didn’t care. He said, if I brought the car to any mechanic that they would find $ 5,000 worth of repairs on any used car, fortunately, I’ve done this several other times with this mechanic and they never found this much damage, ever.
I’d be careful with these guys, they seem like pathological liars to me!

They didn’t say you did nothing wrong, they just stated that they could force you to grow a conscience. If I were still living in the state I would have filed a civil suit already to recoup some of the $ 10,000 you ended costing me between the two cars. Also I don’t know if it’s your best interest to point out that you took advantage of someone who isn’t as knowledgable about cars as A CAR SALESMEN. Of course I’m not. Neither are most of your customers. This just emphasized the point I tried to make with my review: that people should not trust your salesmen and that people should shop elsewhere for used cars.

This place is a TOTAL joke. I bought, and paid cash, for a car in November of 2015. It is now January 20^th, 2016 and I am still yet to receive my title. They said they «mailed it» but the post office has no record of this transaction. Meanwhile my son is driving around on expired tags until it is located. Called and talked to their title manager and finance manager and they both said «we don’t know where it is and we’ll have to call you back». Also talked to Danny who sold me the car and he was no help. NEVER, and I mean EVER buy a car here.

In a moment of weakness, I almost bought a car here. That was until the sales man opened his mouth. Glad I didn’t bother… The car I like there will be someplace else. Always read reviews first.

Great experience! I purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited from Jack and was treated very well. The Staff was quite friendly and they have a decent, recently updated office/​sales area. Fair negotiations and service.

Stans has you sign a ton of release forms for a reason. I should have passed on the vehicle I bought from them. If I were not able to work on this vehicle myself it would have resulted in over $ 2k in repairs right off the bat. As it is it has spent weeks in a garage having the engine and exhaust torn apart.
The exhaust was heavily repaired by someone in the past and the repairs were awful. I am unable to replace the failed exhaust part without also replacing the entire drivers side exhaust and the rear portion as well. These repairs are extremely recent looking, and leaked heavily.
I do not know what Stans would have done for me as I’m not even going to ask after the last reviews posted here by other users. Sometimes when you buy a used car it’s a bad deal, and I know that. I’ll be taking my beating and crawling away from this one. I just wanted to make sure that everyone else had the ability to learn from my mistake.

Where do I begin? I hadn’t had a car in nearly 3 years so I was excited to say the least to finally be getting a car. I wanted a Jeep and found Stan’s on craigslist because they had a wide selection of jeeps and other 4 wheel drive cars. I was on a budget as most of us are and they had several within my price range. After shopping around for about 6 weeks I finally found a 03 Grand Cherokee I could afford. Being that I don’t have a lot of money to spend on fixing a car and realize all used cars will need things replaced I made sure to ask the salesman Chris several times if there mechanic had inspected the car to make sure nothing needed immediate attention. He repeatedly assured me they had checked it out and that it was in good running condition. Keep in mind they knew I was putting all my money down between my down payment and car insurance. Knowing the car was in fact a complete lemon he smiled and shook my hand and the paperwork was completed. I was stoked. I finally had a car again. Two days later I noticed red fluid leaking from the bottom of the car. I took it to a different mechanic to have it inspected, his diagnosis literally brought me to tears. I hadn’t even put 100 miles on it when I found out that the car they assured me was in good running order was not even safe to drive. All the fasteners fuel and brake lines were completely shot, the tie rod on the drivers side had enough play that the mechanic said that the wheel could literally fall off at any time which means I would have lost all control of the vehicle and crashed, potentially hurting/​killing me or someone else on the road. The steering column was rubbing against the radiator and the mechanic said it was sure to blow out anytime. The check engine light had also come on since I had gotten it and had many computer problems as well. He said often the dealers will reset them and they will stay off until the engine cycles a few times and then come on again. He said that was likely what they had done so I wouldn’t see it when I bought it. He also said that car would be in a junk yard within a year no matter what. Troubling to say the least since I was signed up to make payments for 5 years. I called up to Stan’s only to be told they would not take it back under any circumstance. I was devastated. On top of that, Skip the manager talked to me like I was a child and even went so far as it basically call me alcoholic because I had told them I needed to have a interlock installed from a DUI I got in 2009. I was basically crying on the phone talking to him and he made a classless remark about calming down and taking a deep breathe asking don’t they teach you that in Alcoholics Anonymous. They finally agreed to take a look at my car but the more I thought about it I realized there was no way I was going to let them touch my car after they misrepresented themselves and the condition of the car in the first place. My next step was to have a safety inspection performed on the car to prove they illegally sold me a car that did not meet the requirements of a roadworthy car as written in colorado law. The mechanic found SIX different safety issues with the car, each one of them being reason enough they should have never sold the car as an «as is» car. They then broke the law again by issuing a temporary tag on a car that was not roadworthy according to colorado law. The only way they should have sold the car was as a tow away only. I find it quite odd that Stan being on the Dealer Board in colorado could have accidentally overlooked all these issues. I went back in with all the paperwork I had that without a doubt proved they had broken the law and received nothing but attitude from them when presenting the evidence. They even told me to get out of there store and said they would not refund my money or take the car back. It was only when I told them I would take them to civil court and and with out a doubt win and asked if it was really worth the 800 dollar down payment for all the trouble that they agreed to take the car and write me a check. Bottom line I would never recommend anyone to ever go there, not even my worst enemy. They were nothing but rude and basically mean to me at every point after I had signed the paperwork. Unless you have nothing better to do than be frustrated, sad, mad and be made to feel like an idiot, DONT GO TO STANS

BEWARE: they will sell you an unsafe car. WORST DEALERSHIP EVER. I bought a car that drove smooth and was in an average used car condition when leaving their lot. No more than 4 hours of driving the vehicle it began to shake uncontrollably and had to be taken back to the dealership. They then informed me that it had been leaking fluid from the from of the vehicle and needed a $ 300 front end replacement! They said they would cover it and fix it. They had signed a paper claiming to fix the ABS light, & the taillight light bulb. They no longer were going to fix those, due to the damage of the front end. After having to drive the car from my home, in Denver, back to Westminster (35 – 40 minute drive) costing me easily 30 $ in gas for one trip there because they «didn’t know» that the car was «leaking» All the same while the front door starts to come off, the turning lights go out, the ABS light is still out and they had made sure they told me «the ABS and the taillight will NOT be fixed because they had to pay to repair the front end. «Nor was there any compensation for having to drive back and forth from Denver to Westminster 3 separate trips. When we went back upset about the unsafe vehicle, every single person in the dealership was very cold and rude. Freddie, our salesman wouldn’t even say hello or even look at us. We never received help when going back to get the car fixed, we had to have the secretary tell Skip, the manager, that we were there and she was then directed to tell us to give her the car keys and the car will be pulled back. No one ever spoke an apology for the vehicle. This was the worst experience I have ever had buying anything. Just trying to make a buck not caring about the customer or their safety.

Purchased two cars from this place. Stay away from them. Should have registered a complaint with the BBB but too late for that.
First car was a Honda and they did a decent job until it wouldn’t start and had to replace a $ 200 part. I found out it about a year later it needed another $ 4,000 worth of work on both axels. I bought the one below. How could they have possibly done the required inspection and not know this? The bearings were shot in all four wheels.
Purchased another car about a year later. Excellent car but didn’t pass emissions so they passed the cost of that back onto me or they would have to take the keys back. Pure B.S. They said that I had to pay it because the car should have been tested first or some crap like that.
Stay away from them.

I learned about Stan’s from Craig’s List and purchased a 1999 Toyota Rav4. I’m very happy with it. Stan’s was very accommodating in helping me into a car that fit budget needs. The salesman was Damien. He was professional and knowledgeable. Everyone was helpful and tried to meet my needs. They wanted me to be happy with the purchase. They answered all the issues that were troubling to me and resolved them. I’d tell anyone in the market for a used car to try Stan’s.

Stan’s had several vehicles within budget. Prices were clearly marked on the cars and reasonable. Chris was the salesman, very knowledgeable about the inventory. All discussions were plain language and everyone was low pressure and very helpful. The entire process was straight forward and pleasant. Space is a problem though. It’s a little tough to check out vehicles.

I bought a car from Stan’s Auto in January of 2011 — a 1998 Subaru.
When I bought the car from them, it had a bad battery so they replaced it before I left with what they told me was a new battery.
I have had non-​stop problems with this car — oil leaks, replaced the starter, and now I have to replace the alternator. My mechanic informed me that I need a new battery too. He showed me that the battery I have is an original battery from 1998.
I do not trust this place and will not be back.
Update: Stan replied, so I am replying to him. No, Stan, I do not think that Stan’s Auto Sales put an old battery into my car. I was simply never given the new one I was promised when I bought the vehicle.
Also, I wrote the review a year and a half out from buying the car but had problems immediately after buying the car.

Stan’s Auto seems like an honest small town dealership, but be very aware. The men that work at Stan’s are incompetent sales men that obviously just want to sell a car to make a buck. I am disappointed and angry about the purchase I made last July. The car I bought has been nothing but a money sucking piece of crap. I have to take the car back in to a Nissan dealership because the car stops in the middle of traffic and has a burning smell when I restart the car. SCARY! I hope someone doesn’t have the same luck as I have had.
The owners look like hillbillies straight from a trailer park. I should have paid closer attention to the appearance of the sales reps and overall place before purchasing a car from trashy dishonest humans. Good luck if anyone buys a car from here!

Beware: $ 400 «Dealership Fee»
I should also mention that i didn’t actually buy a car here, i put a deposit down and then retracted it 1 day later (I found a better deal on another car).
So basically take any car they are advertising, and tack on an extra $ 400. A pretty sheisty way to advertise your car for less than you are actually selling it for.
The seller (who i will not name, as that would be very harmful to him, and he possibly could have just been having a bad day) i was paired with, also wasn’t the greatest person to buy a car from. When i discovered a significant oil leak under the hood (the car smelled of burning oil as soon as i put it into park, and then when i looked under the hood quite a bit of smoke was coming off the engine) the seller informed me «You have to expect these sorts of issues on any used car in your price range.» I will admit my price range was low, and used cars in my range will have issues, but downplaying a very noticeable oil leak is fulfilling the used car salesman stereotype. That could be a $ 250 repair or it just easily could have been a major, major issue. When i expressed concern he acted annoyed.
Had my better deal on another car not come through, and if a mechanic i trust had confirmed that the oil leak wouldn’t be huge to repair, i might have still gone with the car. However, bring someone who at least knows a little about cars (i don’t know a ton, but i knew enough to raise red flags about both the car and the salesman’s shady efforts to get me to just sign the papers). They do have some good deals on cheaper cars, so if you don’t have a 10 Grand to spend on a car, i would say this place is worth checking out… But be careful.
