South Philly Cheese Steaks

I took my dad to this place when he came to visit. It was my first time going there but it was delicious. Not too expensive and they give you a pretty decent sized sandwich. Not sure if it’s a philly thing or what but I had to ask for mayo on mine. Either way, this place is delicious. And the guy working at the register is really cute and friendly

I can not over emphasize on how much I love this place. The people are always so nice, the food is to die for, they support their community (through Pomona high school) and they play great music. If you respect yourself, this is the only place you’ll get cheese steaks.

My apologies to the staff for coming in 40 mins before closing but your food should still taste the same regardless or if that’s not possible sale it for half off like they do at bakeries. Definitely felt like an unwanted guest that night. Place was all packed up for the night and unfriendly crew. Should have ran out the door when the one cooking was talking about being excited his last day coming up this weekend. Ordered a large Philly with a basket of fries. I’m not joking the basket was half filled. They gave me less than 15 fries that were unseasoned. Kids were disappointed. I appreciate the fast service but you cannot produce a quality Philly in 2 mins. I didn’t mind waiting but I guess the crew wanted me out of their establishment. What I got was a cold hard bun and big unchopped pieces of steak that barely touched the grill. The best way to describe it was it tasted like a microwaved Philly. Not worth the money very disappointing usually love this place

I used to be such a fan of this restaurant, until recently. Today I walked in and ended up paying over twenty dollars for something that I probably could’ve gotten for much cheaper (and tastier) and subway.
First, the kids who work there had no sense of customer service; pretty much dry and didn’t care to really answer my questions.
Second, I ordered the «cheese» fries, which I remember being in a bag of their own and smothered in cheese before; no. Not this time around, I literally got a handful of cold, flavorless fries and a little tub of what seemed like cheez wiz, for almost FIVE dollars.
Then, I ordered the LARGE onion rings (once again for over five dollars) and boy was I shocked when I came home to find five (seriously, five) oil ridden, soggy, partially fried pieces of onions.
Last in my order was «the works»; when I got home (mind you I literally live maybe four minutes away), my sandwich was filled part way with dry meat, a little cheese sauce and some mushrooms.
Needless to say I will never come back to this place; they are way too over priced and not worth the money at all. You’re better off going somewhere else or making a pb&j at home.

Great food here; however, I ordered one plain philly and plain fries, I have been waiting literally an hour and a half. Ordered at 6:08, its 7:29 and nothing. When I call and ask the man says it typically takes 30 to 45 minutes, I tell him how long it’s been and he corrects himself to say 45 minutes to an hour. Once again I repeat myself on my current wait time and he has no response for me. Awful customer service, feel like an extremely unappreciated customer.

To call the sandwiches here cheese steaks is to insult the genre. What is really inexcusable is associating this product with great sandwiches that come out of Philadelphia. If you like a stale hot dog bun loaded with dog food like chopped meat then this is your place.

I wish that Unilocal offered a point rating… if they did, I would give this place a 4.5! I’ll admit that I’ve never been to Philadelphia. So, I cannot speak to what a «real» Philly Cheese Steak tastes like. But, I imagine that this sandwich has to be close. The bread that they use is delicious. The combination of green pepper, onion and cheese was on point. The place is small, but well laid out, with a good vibe. The staff was quick with getting the order out. Overall, I really like this place.

This place is dope! The food is bomb and they deliver a regular sized philly & fries for like $ 12. Clutch meal anytime! Way better than jimmy johns or silver mine or any other sandwich delivery place hands down. I’ve definitely had better cheese steaks (not around here) but the concept alone is killer, check this place out!

This is one of the best cheesesteak places in Colorado. Love the bread! Very Philly themed. This place has won best sandwich many times in the North Chamber of Commerce, and in the Westword.

First of all, I think I should make it known that these guys have a delivery option. That’s a big plus in my book, since most of the delivery in my area consists of generally mediocre Chinese food. The food here is pretty tasty and filling, and the prices are reasonable. You can get a pretty good Groupon for this restaurant that’ll help pay the bill if you’re dining in or taking out.
I’ve had The Works, The Reuben, and the extra-​hot chicken wings. The Works has steak, cheese, onions, mushrooms and green peppers. I got the large last time and was a little taken aback by how huge it is. It’s good — if maybe a little under-​seasoned. Try a little Tabasco sauce to kick it up a notch. The Reuben is made correctly. Sauerkraut, corned beef, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing are all stacked between real rye bread and grilled — add a little Tabasco to bring out the flavor. The extra-​hot chicken wings deliver on flavor and heat. I asked for mine well-​done, however, and was not pleased at how rubbery most of the pieces were. Plenty of people like them that way, I know, but I like the outside of mine crispy and was disappointed that they couldn’t work outside the box a little.
One reviewer gave this place 3.7 stars. I agree completely. The in-​restaurant experience is kind of a drag in terms of cleanliness and décor, but the food is pretty good AND THEY DELIVER. I never found the restaurant’s service very friendly, but the delivery man who came to my door tonight was very personable and really appreciated my tip. My food was hot and obviously fresh. The delivery guy deserved the tip and the restaurant has earned my to-​go business.

Although this place had many plaques stating that they won best sandwich, they must make their best food only for the judges. My sandwich was cold and bland. Their menu board has no prices listed, so there was no way to determine how much your meal would total up to be. Could be $ 5 today could be $ 7 tomorrow, could be one price for one person, total other price for somebody else. It’s price discrimination at south philly cheesestakes.

Tried the 6in turkey philly. Turkey was tender and flavorful had cheese drizzled on top. The bacon on the bottom gave it extra flavor and crunch.
The menu you order from had no prices. So it was like you were ordering blind.
Not sure how they got awards for the best sandwich. It was good but not knock your socks off good.

Group order for lunch on a Sunday and out of eight sandwiches, three were completely wrong. Called and was told by who ever answered the phone, that manager would call back, never happened. Even the mistakes were wrong. Can’t say I would order again as they were bland and not even close to a good Philly cheese steak.

When you close at 9 you serve until 9.
Wonder why everyone I have spoken suggests to stay away. Customer service is at a –5*. I called at 8:37 and was told «We are closed» when you run a business you stay open until your business hours state your closed.
To top it off I was hung up on by the punk high school or young lad who couldn’t handle the questions that I asked him. Told me school was still in and they had to close early.
Franchise owner should take a look at this poorly run place.

This is the original location for the franchise and is the WORSE for cooking the sandwich meat fresh to order!
Good sandwich HOWEVER you take a chance on how fresh! Fries appear to be cooked in old oil, again not fresh. This location always seem to have the meat cook and waiting on the grill and they reheat the meat and serve.
I WILL NOT be back to this location.

I don’t think the place quite reaches the 4 star mark, but 3.7 sounds very reasonable. My boyfriend and I usually go to South Philly for a quick lunch. We always get the traditional cheesesteak, occasionally I order a side salad.
I must say the food is always consistent — consistent portions and flavors.
I find the flavor of cheesesteaks a bit on a safe side (and could use a little more cheese), so I always add a little more salt or pepper or mayo — whatever comes to my mind. The amoroso rolls are ALWAYS fresh. And that’s what accounts for 50% of deliciousness in a cheesesteak, doesn’t it? The salads are fresh and good.
Overall, this is a nice spot 10 minutes away from my home. Do I ever find myself dreaming about their cheesesteaks? Not really, but if I am in the area and in the mood for something quick and yummy, then yes, South Philly always satisfies.

These Philly Cheesesteaks are incredible! I made the mistake of trying to eat healthy and chose the Chicken Cheesesteak without cheese… Wrong choice! But thankfully my husband chose the regular Cheesesteak and it was delicious. I am not normally a fan of red meat but these where amazing!
You can get their special and it comes with a side of fries, onion rings or chips. I kept taking fries and onion rings from my husband. So yummy! Their service is ok, kind of what you expect from a little hole in the wall restaurant. I liked that the sandwiches were authentic, with bread straight from Philly!
If you are craving an amazing Philly Cheesesteak sandwich this is the place!

After running some errands in this part of neighborhood, Hubs and I head to this establishment for a late Lunch. That day was on Saturday August 24^th 2013. This establishment is located at the strip mall which is called as Standley Lake Plaza.
When we first arrived at this establishment, there were a family who are still dining in. If I am not mistaken this establishment can seat about 20 to 25 people at one seating. It could be tight too. There are booth seatings as well as tables with chairs. While choosing our own seats, some of the booth seats were not clean enough especially the ones on the left wing of the establishment, so we opt to be seated at the center of the establishment.
In this establishment they also offer Deli Sandwiches or Wraps, Hoagies, Hot Sandwiches, Chicken Tenders, Fries, Salads and Sides. On the left wing of this establishment next to the Ordering Counter, you can find, the Fountain Drink Dispenser and Refrigerated Beverages such as Juice Box, Pepsi Products, Arizona Iced Teas and Boylans Birch Beer with variety of flavors.
From their Paper Menu, we straight away went to the counter, and order these items :
* 6″ Mushroom Cheese Steak ($ 5.49) + Jalapeño Peppers ($ 0.50)

* 12″ The Works ($ 10.01) — Hubs Order

This was the first time we saw the Boylans Birch Beers in this kind of establishments. Maybe its a norm to others but the brand Boylans Birch Beers are «new» in our vocabulary. We waited for abit while the Kitchen staff who is also the one who took our order preparing and cooking our food to order.
All our food with beverages cost us about $ 26 with tips and tax.
Our beverages of Root Beer from Boylans Birch Beer, was indeed good. It has an unusual taste. The more we drink it, the more we are liking it.
Hubs opt to have The Works for his Main Entrée. Hubs like the flavor of his Cheese Steak sandwiches. The seasoning was done right, though he cannot deny he is NOT into the Cheese Fries as much as I do. I like everything I had. The Amoroso Rolls were indeed soft, and the fillings are plenty for my late lunch. All the food came out piping hot, which are good in our books.
Since we are in a hurry to return home at the other side of town, Hubs decide to bring back home half of his order and half of the Cheese Fries too. All in all, its 3.5 to 4 stars for food, 3.5 stars for service, 3 .5 stars for cleanliness of the establishment. When we are still enjoying our food, there are many more patrons deciding to either have their food to go or decide to dine in at this establishment. Hubs also enquire about the Tastykakes too. Perhaps that might be another trip, since Hubs does not mind returning to this South Philly Cheese Steaks establishment, whenever we are in this neighborhood.
Through their Paper Menu, they provide Delivery to Limited Delivery areas, and also provide catering to the masses. There are ample parking spaces outside this establishment.
