Char to the rescue!
First let’s start off by saying I am a business owner myself and unfortunately I am very picky about who my girlfriend and I work with, especially if it’s skin care. Char is the real deal. From the moment you walk into her office you can tell this Esthetician is a perfectionist. The way her furniture is laid out and presented goes to show you how professional she will be when providing skin care. If you get a chance, take a close look at her certifications on the wall. Clearly she has been blessed with years of experience and knowledge. Second, before we came in for service we did several rounds of customer service with her and she answered all of our questions with concise answers. Third, we want to take this moment to let you all know this is a «Premium Service» operation where she uses only the good stuff, and so she is not cheap. But should you really cheap out on skin care products if your goal is to have healthier, younger looking skin? No, you don’t and that has been our mistake before we got skin care here. My girlfriend and I are Asian and we have sensitive skin and we always used the stuff «commercials» tell us to use like Jergens lotions, Neutrogena face wash, and Gillette shaving creams, etc… you get the idea. See, Char explained to us that we can’t be using the same skin care products when everyone’s skins are different. We needed a skin care solution that is catered to our face and particular situation! This makes perfect sense considering our skins haven’t been getting any better over the last 20+ years, yet we keep buying and wasting money on the same «Target» stuff over and over that doesn’t actually help.
We came in for facials and immediately saw results afterwards. And sure, others will say well this is because it is right after the treatment so of course you will look all hydrated and healthy looking and you know what I say to that? Skin care is a process, it took us years and years to build this bad skin (sun damage, incorrect products, and creams, etc.) and yet just a few hours with Char we have been thoroughly educated and she has changed our lives! Now we know there is hope to get our healthy skin back! So was it worth it? Absolutely. Will we be back? Yes, 1 week from now for a follow-​up to make sure we are sticking to our skin care régime that she instructed. Just like anything, you have to be diligent with what you’re doing if you want results. You have to come back for your follow-​up appointments. For the record, we have read the other reviews and we want to take a moment to say that the 1 star review that was given goes without merit. It is pretty obvious that this particular customer had a different skin type and acne issue than everyone else, hence would require more follow-​up visits and a more aggressive skin care plan. If a customer never comes back for scheduled follow-​up visits then they will not get the results they’re looking for.
Conclusion: If you have a skin care problem, no matter how big or small and you want to change the way your skin looks and feels, give Char a call. She really has helped both of us feel so much better about our skin and the way we look.

Char is definitely all of the above and if her name was longer, I’d continue to describe her with all the best possible words I could think of. She gave me the best experience and has done beyond her job as an esthetician to help me regain my confidence. I even got more compliments about my skin after a couple of appointments with Char. To be honest, no one EVER compliments about my skin, ever, not until I met Char.
So it all began when I bought this Korean BB Cream which claimed it has a bunch of multi-​tasking jobs that promises to give me the most natural coverage etc. Little did I know that my super sensitive skin started reacting to this product and I came down with contact dermatitis. My face had inflammation and was ENTIRELY filled with these pimple-​like bumps or rash. It was itchy, red, and it’s just the worse nightmare I’ve ever experienced. At first I thought it would go away if I just bought aloe vera to soothe it and I tried other methods, but nothing seems to work. I even asked my other friends for their suggestion because they’ve had a bad reaction due to makeup before and they all suggested to find a dermatologist. I’ve heard many stories of my other friends who suffer with acne and those doctors basically prescribe things like acutane and not a lot of them had good feedbacks about this drug. I thought to myself, I really don’t want to be on any kind of drug, I just want this to all naturally disappear somehow. I decided to type in the Unilocal search box, «dermatologist», and Char showed up, which is ironic because she is not a dermatologist, she’s an esthetician. I searched through Unilocal for a while to find a reliable person and none of those dermatologists had a 5 star rating like Char. So I began reading the reviews that customers wrote about Char’s Skincare and they were all EXTREMELY SATISFIED. I decided to call her and I left her a voicemail explaining my situation. To my surprise, she called back!!! I was nervous at first, but she was very friendly and had so much suggestions on how to take care of my skin. The way she explained and suggested what to do, I could really tell that she’s passionate about her job and cares about anyone who reaches out to her about their skin problems. I took her suggestions and actually came in for some treatments.
Before I walked into her business, I expected to be in a waiting room with a bunch of other patients. However, it was just Char by herself and no assistant, I loved the atmosphere of her relaxing office and what stood out most was all her certificates that were nicely hung on her wall. I did ponder to myself, why isn’t she a dermatologist?
Moving forward, Char looked at my skin and did some treatments that calmed the inflammation. In general, the treatment part for my first experience with Char was MORE than what I expected. All the treatments she did to my face had a purpose and she was very straightforward about telling me the benefits it will have for my skin. She did not give me false information (I actually went home and searched google for the information she said) and did not lure me into doing other unnecessary treatments just for money. I truly appreciate her honesty, it’s so rare to find that nowadays in some businesses. It feels like she knows more about my skin than I do myself, which is absolutely reassuring that someone cares and understands the pain you’re going through.
I bought her products that she highly suggested after the facial treatments and all I had to do was follow her instructions on daily skin care routine, diet, and lifestyle tips. At first, the price of her products did scare me because I was not expecting to spend too much, but yet I took that risk anyways because my gut was telling me to trust her. I AM SO GLAD I TRUSTED HER WITH MY SKIN!!! Those skin care products are absolutely beneficial and within a week after my first time meeting with Char, I already saw drastic improvements. It takes time and patience to obtain the results you want and Char is definitely there to fight with you, she won’t leave you hanging, unless you decide not to trust her and not continue to follow-​up with your appointments. Well, then that is your fault, you cannot blame Char for your own decisions. Let’s be reasonable adults and be in her shoes at the same time. Results don’t come instantly within a day, patience is key.
I am still booking appointments with Char and I’d have to admit that her pricing is expensive, especially for a college student like me. Thank goodness I saved up some money these past months in an emergency case like this. I’m so glad I invested in my skin with the RIGHT person, thank you so much Char! My skin looks even better than it did before I had the bad reaction to the Korean BB Cream. I’m forever thankful and I highly recommend Char, she’s the best in the west =]

I did everything she told me to do after for care. $ 450 dollars for a facial and some skin care stuff. I came in with 5 pimples. Now I have dam near 50 all over my face.
It may look great right after the treatment, but give it a couple weeks and you’re skin is messed up. All these pictures are before and RIGHT AFTER. Pictures.
Never coming back here again ESPECIALLY with a price tag like that.

Oh wow! I am blown away right now. I just got off a 15min phone call with Char regarding skin care regiments and I’m not even a patient haha I called Char today in the afternoon just wanting to know about prices and what treatments she does for acne but she missed my call. I didn’t leave a voicemail or anything but she still contacted me back. When she gave me a call back she was very friendly and right off the bat asked me about my skin. She took the time to break down and explain to me what acne is and why people get acne. Like i said before, I only called for the prices and treatments so all this coaching and consulting caught me off guard haha but yea, Char went above and beyond and I’m very appreciative that she took the time to do this.
My acne isn’t that bad right now but as soon as i feel like enough is enough, I will be calling Char immediately! to make an appointment.

I have been going to Char for several years now and she is absolutely AMAZING at what she does. I’ve seen several dermatologists, received spa treatments and have not seen the results that I have with them as I have with Char. I was fortunate to have been recommended by a friend to Char in the nick of time when my skin was going through some serious acne issues 4 years ago. I’ve been suffering from moderate to severe acne for a couple years now (It’s fluctuated from bad to worse).
I’ve tried nearly everything including over the counter scrubs & medications, and even a few prescription drugs and I realized I’m getting no results (If you’re like me they only seem to make it worse after a few weeks).
So i started to do some research online and came across Char’s Unilocal page, seeing her reviews and photos I decided I’d give her a call. After just the first treatment I was AMAZED! She spent almost 3 hours on my skin, immediately after the appointment my skin looked better then it has in years.
Char sold me some of her products without making me feel pressured into buying them and they’ve been working great, And I’m totally excited to use them, (Considering the results).

I just got off the phone with Char regarding my acne scaring and she was so honest about my condition. She suggested I see my doctor before anything to save me money. She also asks i follow up with her which shows that she truly cares and wants the best for her clients. There truly needs to be more people like her. If you have a problem with your skin, I suggest you give her a call because she will give you her honest opinion!

I have been going to Char for almost three years now. Before coming to her I was getting «butchered» by other waxing «artists». I can honestly say that no one does it better. She uses the best wax, and is extremely meticulous, resulting in perfection every time. Recently, I was having issues with my face, breaking out, dryness, and early aging. I had tried using so many other skin products and never could I find anything that wouldn’t dry me out while getting rid of acne, or keep me moisturized without breaking me out. Char came to my rescue and my skin has never looked better. I can’t thank her enough. She is FULL SERVICE!!! The price is worth the results. Not only does she know her stuff, but she is always available with an extremely flexible schedule. I have literally been in her salon on a short notice practically in the middle of the night! If you aren’t seeing Char then you aren’t taking care of your skin:)

I’d like to give an update on my review. I got back into town after 2 months of traveling. and came running to Char sharing with her, my skin looks and feels dull and blah. can you help. she said she’s got the perfect remedy… a red carpet glow… and it felt good. and it wasn’t until 2 days later when i was sitting in my yoga class that I had the time to stare at my face in the mirror for an hour that I thought. WOW! Char is AMAZING! absolutely AMAZING! my face has never had such a GLOW and feeling of freshness and newness to it like EVER! Just absolutely amazing. the woman knows her stuff! Char is absolutely amazing and I can’t rave about her and her skills enough.

This woman is amazing and has changed my life inside and out. Pretty much she is the queen of skin. I actually found her on Unilocal and read she had great reviews so I decided to give her a shot. I was going through some major stress in my life and was breaking out like crazy. This woman has dramatically changed my skin in a matter of weeks. I struggled with acne my whole life and went to different dermatologists and nothing really got my skin looking flawless. Her products and makeup work so good. Her personality is straight forward no bull shit approach and gets down to the nitty gritty. She’s humorous and makes you feel so comfortable. I would highly recommend her and the price you pay is way worth it!!!

I am a 27 year old male who exercises regularly. I’m talking sweaty ass basketball games, weights, cycling, etc. I’m checking into the gym more than a recovering addict at Betty Ford (word to Lindsay Lohan). I have always suffered from hives/​skin rash breaking out during certain weather conditions. Whether it was because of sweat or moist, I’ve tried every OTC or web-​MD tips and have used hydrocortisone to antibiotics prescribed by a physician. I was starting to believe I had some kind of condition like eczema because the treatment would always be temporary.
Now I am comfortable in my own skin but I owe my girlfriend a lot by pushing me into seeing a dermatologist (Why it took so long? Masculinity issues lol). So this summer, I Unilocaled for a dermatologist and read the great reviews about Char and scheduled an appointment.
As a business owner and skin specialist (she is not a dermatologist people), I found her delightful and pleasant. Upon first encounter, you can tell this woman takes her craft seriously because she is the last of a dying breed. In my humble opinion, other competitors need to take note of this woman’s hustle because she is certainly creating her own lane by staying true to what she is– being damn good at what she does and being honest to her customers. I truly respect her style (real recognize real, b!), she has the no bullsh*t-nonsense mentality, where she will tell you the truth and direct you in the right place in order to help you. If she can’t help you, then she can’t help you. In this business, reputation is everything. She knows that, that’s why she wants to make sure her customers are satisfied. It’s really simple like math. Happy customers refer people + people who are satisfied who refer people + the people that were just referred who are satisfied refer more people (you get the hint) = Happy customers and $ for what she loves to do!
But the most important factor to why she has such a loyal following– she displays the genuine care that a customer needs to feel, knowing she is not just going to throw all these types of terms at you so she could sell a bunch of sh*t that you’ve never heard of so she can make some money. She’s like the mom from my Big Fat Greek Wedding (Char if I offended you, I’m sorry!) passionate about her craft and and finds gratification in helping people.
I bought 3 things from her and didn’t need to schedule a follow up:
1. Hydrocortizone (She even told me I can purchase it elsewhere for cheap, the brand she sold did not make a difference).
2. Soothing Gel Mask (This was her brand)
3. Tea Tree Body Wash (This was the money maker, she hit it right on the dot with this!)
You mean to tell me this entire time, the simple ingredient to solving my problem was Tea Tree?!
With a snap of a finger, she was confident in her Nostradamus predictions and even offered me alternative treatment if this one did not work. Ma’am, no need! Charlene is some kind of shaman or healer, because I truly believe in her powers. There are two types of people in this world– the haves and the have-​nots. Call it black magic or witchcraft if you want, but she’s got it. Just go seek and ye shall find truth. Word to the Monkees, I’m a believer.

She ask you to come in once a week which is $ 1000 plus make you feel like you HAVE to use her face products which can add another$ 800. If you dont have extra $ 1500 every month, dont bother starting with her.
It is $ 200/​session plus another $ 50 for some kinda theraphy that you better do.
You go in once a week. $ 250 times 4= $ 1000!!! In my opinion, this is expensive

Okay. Char might be a friendly person, but I know how business works. You have to be friendly becuase they are your client!!!
Please find another place where they can give you better service and price. There are many places out there to help you. I now have clear skin and regret so much for wasting my money to char in the past!

I LOVE Skin by Char. My skin has always had outbreaks. They get especially bad and painful during certain times of stress. I could never find a product or way for the breakouts to go down (fast) without over drying my skin or causing the break out to get worse. I used ProActive, Acne pro, Clean and Clear, etc… nothing was working.
The first time i got a facial by Char i saw results the next day. My big problem zits were not fire red and swollen anymore. My whole face had calmed down and most redness had vanished.
I also have had some facial waxing done by Char. I had never gotten anything waxed before so i was nervous. Those nerves soon faded. Char made me feel calm and relaxed and made the wax quick and as pain free as possible.
I have used the facial cleansers, lotions, and etc from Skin by Char and they show by far one of the best results ive ever seen.
Now, lets talk about the atmosphere of Skin by Char. Its different from your usual beauty/​spa/​salon. I actually really like the way the office is set up.
She made me feel super confortable and welcome. The mood was relaxing. She had some cool lighting and was playing hawaiian music in the background. Even though the office is ment for one client at a time i like it better than multipule rooms because it made me feel like my appointment was all about me. My appointment. My beauty. My improvememt. She took time to answer all the questions i had. She never forced me to buy anything and she always only offers me products that i actually need and never pushed me to make a purchase.
I will definitely keep going back! THANKS CHAR! YOURE THE BEST!!!

I have been breaking out pretty bad only on my forehead for awhile now, and I decided a facial would help. So I went to see Char based on the Unilocal reviews. I was a little skeptical at first because there was only 4 reviews for this place. But I gave it a shot anyway. I tried over the counter acne medication, Dermatologica, Murad, and nothing would help the bad break out I was having! And I have always had clear skin!
The place is small, but very intimate. It is great for a one-​on-​one treatment! She only focuses on you in the time you have together. Char was amazingly helpful and informative about skincare. She talked about all sorts of ways to take care of your skin, about her qualifications, what treatments are appropriate for you, and tells you what exactly she’s doing every step of the way. You can tell she’s passionate about doing this stuff.
She did an enzyme peel first to get rid of dead skin, then went on to do a zinc/​sulfur mask, then used LED therapy to kills the acne causing bacteria (which she did for me for free!) and followed by an oxygen treatment. This all came out to be $ 200.
After I was done, she sat me up and gave me some chocolate and answered more questions. She will also suggest to use some of her products, but you won’t feel pressured at all.
We spent about an hour and a half with the facial. At the end, my forehead was defnitely less inflammed. I was amazed! Although it may have been costly, it was so worth it. I am definitely going to see her again.

Char helped me to have great looking skin for my wedding! Her treatments are customized to who you are and what she feels your skin needs at that time. I never felt rushed when I was with her and her service is definitely not a cookie-​cutter, wham bam ‘get-​you-​in-​and-​out-​in-​50-​minutes’ kind of facial. She really takes the time to get to know you and your skin. I always felt comfortable asking questions and getting her advice on my day-​to-​day skin care. Her products are great and I especially love her face wash and astringent. Thanks, Char!

At the age of 28, my skin started to break out. As a teenager and young adult I had never had that type of skin before so it caused a major confidence issue. I was depressed. I made the problem worse by being a «popper.» So on top of the breakouts, I had to deal with ugly scaring. To say I was desperate to find a solution would be an understatement. I still have some pigmentation that needs to be changed in color, but I know that will come in due time. I am so excited to continue seeing Char as she changes my skin for the better.

Charlene has got to be the BEST out there. I have been seeing her for years and she has done wonders for my skin and has erased years from my face.
We met by chance (right next-​door to her shop) at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. I was getting my nightly coffee (working nights) and Charlene was passing out business cards with facial and waxing information. I was only interested in getting my eyebrows done, but she took especial notice to my poor acne-​covered face (tons of cystic acne around my chin and mouth area). Not only was this acne embarrassing to deal with (no amount of makeup can cover it), but cystic acne is very painful.
Charlene took me underneath her wings and instructed me on how to care for my skin (her product works wonders). We started a regimen of microdermabrasion and use of her product and months later, my skin was like new. Not only did she do wonders with my crow’s feet, she cleared my acne. Once again, I could go out and run errands without worrying about putting on makeup, which obviously did not cover my acne, but instilled in me confidence about how I looked.
It has been years since our first meeting, but I continue to see Charlene and she always take stellar care of my skin. She is a genuinely sweet person and really cares about skin and how you look. My face looks fabulous and it is all because of Charlene.

I have been to a couple of dermatologists, several skin spa treatment places, and none of them compare to the results I see with Char at It’s All About You Skin Care Studio. She is awesome and TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY AND TIME!!!
Char is the only person I know in skin care that will dedicate her time and effort in making your skin better. Go see her!!! You will not regret it!!!
I’m telling you, Char is the best in the industry! I have used prescribed creams from my dermatologists for my breakouts and Neutrogena over the counter stuff, which caused breakouts and dry spots on my face for the last several months. Since I’ve gone to see Char in the last 4 weeks, my skin have improved dramatically. Here studio is very small, not fancy, but it does not matter, what matters is Char working on your skin and paying attention to you 110%. She tells you the proper way to take care of your skin with her top of the line products. Char is very passionate about her work and everything skin, she’s certified and has professional experience. My mom and sister have gone to see her and absolutely LOVE this place!
I have realized I wasted all my money on the over the counter and Sephora — Dermatologica, Philosphy creams and they do not work. Char really understands what works for my skin and each individual. She does not rip you off and her prices are reasonable.
