Great dance school. This is the second school my daughter has attended for ballet/tap and she absolutely loves it. They have mastered the art of formal age-appropriate instruction. Her last school was fun but it took half the class to get the girls to pay attention. At this school they are disciplined, but not crazy competitive or stage-momish. Ms. Linda is an exceptional teacher. It’s a perfect balance of formal instruction and fun. My 4 turned 5 year old daughter has learned so much. It’s also evident in their productions. This school by far has the best productions I’ve seen. Most of the time the little ones go on stage and look cute, but are all over the place. But this year my daughter went on stage and actually performed a choreographed routine. Very impressive. Dance has helped her social skills as well as over all confidence. The only reason why I took a star off is because the building structure itself(it’s an old building). It’s pretty hot and uncomfortable during the summer, especially upstairs.

Daughter went to her first ballet class. The 3 female instructors seemed observant and supportive. My daughter was more excited about the doll house than the dancing. Maybe ballet isn’t her thing.

Orange County Song and Dance(OCSD) is an excellent place for your child to learn what it means to be a performer. A lot of places call themselves a performing arts studio, but few live up to that moniker as well as OCSD. The studio chooses to forgoe the competition circuit in favor of engaging the students in many performing opportunities thoroughout Orange County. The building and location are unassuming. Many may drive by and not give it a second thought. That would be a mistake. The facility consists of a large dance room with a floating wood floor to help reduce injury to the dancers. This large room is big enough to create wonderful production numbers the many students perform in. There is also a medium sized dance room, a small room dedicated to singing classes and a ballet room upstairs. There is a relatively large lobby for waiting, and there is also room for parents to watch classes and rehearsals inside of each room. There is even a small play area for younger children. Parking is sometimes an issue, but with a little patience most people find a way to make ti work. While the parking area is not large, it is private. The staff is top notch. Instructors have made performing arts a part of their life and many have extenstive professional backgrounds. Instruction follows a standard of teaching sound fundamentals in a constructive and nurturing manner. Students are encouraged to perform in front of an auidence as a part of the learning experience. While former students may become instructors at OCSD, this occurs only after graduating from High School and then only after working as an assistant. This ensures that the OCSD standards are upheld at every age level. Students who take classes at OCSD may be invited to become a part of the OCSD Company Kids or they may choose to remain a part of the OCSD Studio Kids family. Either way, students are given an opportunity to learn and grow. Those who become a Company Kid are expected to adhere to a specified set of guidlines that help them to learn what it means to make a committment to a team. It is truly a rewarding experience. Classes are avaialble for all ages and abilities, although it may require some flexibility to find the ideal class. The reason is that OCSD tries to ensure that the instruction matches the needs of the student. Many factors influence when a class can be offered. Those with a flexible schedule will find a class that meets their needs, whether it be in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop or signing. The kids at OCSD can be seen throughout the year performing in venues all over Orange County. When the students reach High School age they are often selected to be a part of some of the top High School performing programs throughout the county. The training they receive at OCSD helps them be successful as performers wherever they go. Whether you are looking for a place for your child to take a few classes just for fun, or looking for more, OCSD is the place to go. We are sure glad we did.

Orange County Song and Dance is a great school for young women and men, to not only develop great dancing skills, but fantastic lessons in performance techniques, and personal character growth. The administrators are the utmost in professionalism, and the wonderfully caring teachers are as good they come. Students are given year-long lessons in fantastic well-taught classes; preparing all for seasonal and charitable performances at such venues as La Mirada Center for the Performing Arts, Knotts Berry Farm, and other sites, to the delight of grateful audiences. My daughter and I travel almost 20 miles per day for her lessons. It is beyond the worth, for the artistic and personal growth she has experienced. Most important of all, she has so much fun!

Daughter has been going here for years. We love it hear! Teachers really know what they are doing and care about the kids. They also put on a Class Act recital show at the La Mirada performing arts center. All kids that take classes are in the show.
