Most pastries I bought were good. But the man behind the counter was not. He continued chatting on the phone while I was waiting for him to help me. I waited for him, picked my items, paid and left.

Love coming here for their glutinous taro cake. They sell it in pieces of 4 for $ 2.25 or a whole cake for $ 14. I usually don’t come for their moon cakes since they gave me one with mold on it one time and I didn’t notice til I got home. Cash only!

I really liked this place until I got pretty bad food poisoning after eating 2 of their mooncakes. I read about how some places recycle the filling to save money. Could this be one of those places?

Went in to buy moon-cakes for the first time! The owner was very helpful in explaining all the different options and giving his opinions. Also, the shop was well organized and labeled. Very happy with my purchases.

We bought $ 100.00 worth of the sponge cakes Yesterday & today we came back to buy more moon cakes, there was one moon cake that sells For $ 9.00, we asked for a box. Since we are taking it on airplane. The employee would not give a box for the one moon cake I bought. Then I asked to buy A box. Then they finally give it to me. It took 4 people just to get a box for the moon cake . Yes, the bake goods are excellent but service was horrible. I don’t recommend this place. Just because. To avoid arguments.

This is the first time I went to Vietnamese bakery and I picked the right one! This place have so many different delicious treats and I don’t know how to choose. Any of them are great! Since I like taro and green tea, I tried most of the stuff that has taro or green tea favor. They are not very sweet, but has the strong favor. I really enjoy it.

Horrible customer service & a totally lack of awareness about food safety I bought 4 boxes of mooncakes from My Hiep & brought back to SJ. I gave 3 box away as gift. The cakes actually are pretty good after first two days. After 4 days, I found 2 left over cakes have had molds & looked stales. I frantically call other family & friends to notify of my findings & profusely apologize for offering them potentially bad cakes. I called My Hiep & notified them about moldy cakes but the helper responded it was not her responsible or bakery responsible if cakes have become moldy. I calmly told her about food safety, local health code, &FDA& request to speak with owner. I finally get to speak with owner but he stated there is no preservative in packaging so cakes will become stale or moldy. There is not much his shop can do but he did ask me to take picture of moldy cakes & send to him so he can mail me a refund. If i’m nearby bakery then just bring it back for exchange . I chose to do neither because how do I have any faith in eating My Hiep products? Would anyone want to exchange bad products for something that is potentially bad or worse?

I swung by while waiting for phở next door to grab some curry beef jerky. I got the crunchy kind which is such a great snack. Been going here since I was a kid and like everyone says their moon cakes are what they’re known for but I didn’t grab any this time.

Good selection of holiday(tet) goods. People are nice. Prices are comparable to others(not cheaper). Overall, I would come again for the selection.

I bought a box of «banh trung thu dau xanh» and«hat sen» a week ago. We ate two and opened the other two today. I found out both were molded. I called the bakery, and the lady said«Too bad, you can’t leave it for a week. They won’t last.» This is the first time I experienced and heard that Banh trung thu can’t last more than a week. I would NEVER buy it at My Hiep again.

Cash only… hurry up and buy so I can order all the mooncakes here. Seriously this is it for mooncakes. Nobody makes it more eliquent and marvelous than My Hiep. The place looks family owned and runned which is cool. They sell other various treats here too but the protocol is buy mooncakes and mooncakes only because… delicious thats why. The downside is it can get very packed during the Moon Festival time and parking is always a bummer. The upside is… MOONCAKES damnit. See y’all Saturday(oh tomorrow).

Is there a no star rating option? I want to give no star for this shop. The service is horrible and not trustworthy. This bakery is the only place my family goes to since 2000. For the last 14 years, we didn’t have any problem with their cake. But this year, it will be our last time to come to their shop. One of the moon cake got molded(see attached picture). I talked to Duc on the phone and he told me to put the moon cake in the fridge(even it’s molded) until weekend when I can stop by for a refund or exchange. So, I stopped by the shop tonight(2 days before weekend) for exchange. At first, the guy didn’t want to exchange then the lady(I think she is the owner) stepped in and allowed the exchange. But another lady jumped in said«No» and asked me «GETOUT». The lady who I think is the owner told that lady stay out. While I walked out the store, the same old lady yelled out«GETOUTMYSTORE»… She sounded like I want to come back her store so badly after this incident. Well, sorry lady… you lost 14 year loyalty customer here. I think the lady needs to get train on her customer service skills. Well, what would you do if you receive this kind of manner from an old 60+ lady? I only have one thing to say to her«WHATGOESAROUNDCOMESAROUND». To all Unilocalers out there, check your receipts and bags in front of them before you walk out that store. THEYDONOTKEEPTHEIRWORD. NOBUSINESSETHICHERE!

This bakery has one of the best mooncakes in Orange County. I’ve tried other bakeries but I always came back to this place. If you come here a week before the moon festival, the line is out of the door. Everything is sold out. It’s very crazy. I only buy their mooncakes after the festival to avoid the madness. My favorites are the special with two salted egg yolks, durian filling, and taro filling. They are a little more expensive than other bakeries, but It’s worth it.

This is hands down the best place in the Orange County area to pick up Moon Cakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival. It’s also known as «Banh Trung Thu» in the Vietnamese culture. My Hiep has always been the spot for my family to pick up cakes for gifting/eating. The shop itself is tiny — located in a overpopulated strip mall — which means parking is sparse — it helps if you don’t come here on a weekend, as the drivers I’m sure are the reason that Asian drivers get a «bad rap» for our driving skills. You almost feel like Frogger after parking your car and trying to navigate safely to the bakery. Before you even enter the bakery, there is a gigantic, full-color and detailed visual menu of the 20 or so different types of moon cakes you can pick up at the bakery. My personal favorite is the #7 — Hot Sen Trung 2 Hoc(See attached photo) — which means lotus seed paste with two duck eggs. Lotus seed paste is considered to be richer and more luxurious than the more common mung bean paste filling. This cake goes very well with some hot green tea and is great for sharing. Actually, at 1000 calories per cake, it’s probably a good idea not to consume one cake all by yourself! During their busy Mid-Autumn Festival and Tet seasons, this bakery is well-staffed with usually 3 or 4 clerks readily available to assist. Their prices are well displayed on all their products/pastries — although if you’re going here for the Mooncakes, keep in mind that prices range from $ 5 to $ 11PER cake — definitely higher than most other places, but the quality and taste is very noticeable. You can buy them separately or in a box of 4 cakes. Another favorite item I like to get here are their pâté chauds. These are flaky little bite sized pastries that have a buttery-rich crust and a pork or chicken filling. They’re made with just the right amount of crispyness, crust and filling here. Finally, for those who don’t know, it’s CASHONLY at their bakery. However, My Hiep does have a website where you can(obviously) pay with a credit card. Just make sure that if you order by the website, you buy early enough before the actual festival day. Mid-Autumn Festival Day for 2013 — September 19th.

Not a moon cake fan. This review is solely for their pâté chaud in pork and chicken. Yum! One of my favorites next to the ones from Au Coeur de Paris Café in Fountain Valley. Perfect crisp and flavored meat inside. Nicely portioned! I’m a sucker for these… so I WILLBEBACK!

I come here for two things: taro gelatinous cake(banh da lon?) and moon cake. Best moon cakes in the city! They do a good job keeping stocked around the festivals and they’re moon cakes have been consistently good for the last 20 years I’ve been going to them. They continue to have moon cake during the year if you’re having a craving. I’m in love with the taro banh da lon — best ever in westminster. It’s 1.75 for 4 pieces now, but I still think it is delicious. I make sure to get a few trays everytime I’m back home. I don’t think any other place compares!
