Called Larry to get an estimate. Gave him the measurements over the phone and waited while he tried to work out a configuration. He couldn’t get it, so I had to tell him how 4″, 6″, and 8″ blocks can be combined to make 24″. He came out to look at the window opening and kept telling me that it would have to be placed on the outside of the window frame, entailing more work around my brick. It wasn’t until I got him to remove the storm window that he realized that it would work the way I suggested. He forgot to bring with him the two, two! types of glass blocks that he uses. He does this for a living and only offers two styles? The thing that sealed the no-​deal was that he had alcohol on his breath when he came to talk to me. Now I like my stout as much as anyone, but I know that you don’t go looking for business after tipping back a few. Business before pleasure, as they say. No thanks.
