Gibbs Dentistry

After two really bad experiences I was recommended by a good friend to come here. Now I’ve been going to Gibbs Dentistry for about 6 years now. I absolutely hate dentists and I’ve completely changed my mind since I started going here. In fact, I drive 35 minutes just to come to this place because it’s so welcoming and comforting.
Teri Schaeffer takes excellent preventative measures to ensure my teeth aren’t heading in the wrong direction. She is very honest and professional about every aspect. All the nurses or doctors explain everything very thoroughly while taking their time on each tooth. I don’t ever feel rushed to get in and out of the office like other places have done to me before.
She has honestly saved my teeth, gums and alignment too many times by preventative care. I highly recommend Teri and her team!

My husband and I started going to Gibbs Dentistry after he’d seen another dentist who recommended questionable and unnecessary work. We’ve found that Dr. Gibbs and her staff are honest and very professional. In addition I went in with our infant and their staff soothed and held him while the hygienist was working on my teeth. One of the things we also appreciate about this office is that they are super family friendly.

The staff was so professional and kind that I’m looking forward to going back in 6 months. Everything was explained to me up front (from the cleaning to the costs) that I didn’t have any surprises. I have nothing bad to say about this business.

It would be impossible to disagree with the review from Cleo X any more. Tammy and her staff are the kindest, most helpful people I have ever dealt with. We have been going to her for over 20 years now. I used to be terrified of those needles they use to numb your teeth before the dreaded filling. In her office I don’t even feel it. They are so gentle with the way they treat you.
The front desk is in no way unprofessional. They are relaxed, friendly, and welcoming. If you’re thinking of making a decision based on Cleo’s review, my advice would be: «don’t. just don’t.»
If you don’t like the old «scraping routine» for cleanings, there is also sonic treatments with water where there is no scraping involved. I prefer the scraping, but options are available.
You need to go to their office and see for yourself. You will thank your lucky stars that you chose Tammy as your dentist.

in all fairness, i cannot really comment on the doctors or actual dentistry because frankly i never made it much farther than the unprofessional front desk.
i arrived to my appointment 10 minutes early. it had been awhile since i have been in, so naturally there would be paperwork to update. i signed in on the front desk roster. «new address?” — yes. «new insurance” — yes. the receptionist lady behind the counter barely glanced up and pretty much failed to acknowledge me.
i found a seat in the waiting room. time started rolling by. 10 minutes past my appointment time. then 15. then 20. oookay. i was now wondering why i hauled getting there– did i mention that i had to leave my sick infant at home with a sitter? (i didn’t want to cancel the appointment, as dentist appointments can sometimes take months just to get in).
no paperwork? no update? was i forgotten about? i approached the front desk. the woman stared at me blankly for a few seconds and then said (in a manner as if i were inconveniencing her), «she’s running late.» okay. who’s running late? the dentist? the hygienist? the person with the paperwork i am almost certain i should be filling out while i’m just sitting there?
30 long minutes go by. i was the only one in the waiting room, so it’s not like they were swamped. finally a different woman in a lab coat opens the door and calls me back. on top of the ‘dental anxiety’ i was already feeling (you know– psyching yourself out about someone scraping at your teeth with metal hooks and things), now i was feeling a bit crusty that i had the courtesy to arrive on time (early actually) and no one had the courtesy to tell me why 35 minutes of my valuable time had been wasted. not to mention, my newborn was waiting at home, under the weather and no doubt fussy.
i am led to ‘the chair.’ the woman begins not-​so-​delicately banging around in my mouth with metal tools. i politely stopped her and requested she be a bit more gentle as i have very sensitive teeth and gums, not to mention a bit of dental anxiety. she thanks me for letting her know. then strangely proceeds in the exact same manner.
a few minutes later it is determined that updated x-​rays are needed. i remind her that i have new insurance. i hand her my insurance card so that we may confirm what is covered as far as x-​rays. she disappears for a few minutes and then returns to inform me that, sorry, their practice does not accept my insurance. at all. for anything. nothing is covered.

thank you unprofessional people for officially wasting my time. let alone gas mileage and time away from my child. there was every opportunity to verify my insurance and its coverage while i was sitting in the waiting room for ages (for whatever mysterious reason?!). and does no one read the check-​in roster? — i wrote it on there!
insurance or no insurance i will never go back to that establishment and will urge people to go elsewhere. time is valuable. i have no tolerance for time wasters.

Not only is Doctor Gibbs wonderful, so is the rest of the staff. I’ve now been there twice, and for once, I’m sort of looking forward to going back to the dentist.
I was especially happy with how attentive they were with regards to my physical comfort. I’m a complete wimp when it comes to mouth pain, and they did everything possible not to hurt me. I’m a real hard-​case — resistant to nitrous (though it helps), resistant to lidocaine, and a total crybaby on top of that. The nice lady who worked on me was extremely gentle and careful, and really listened.
Everyone’s very warm, friendly and professional, and they even worked with me on payment, because I don’t have insurance (they also recommended some dental plans that might work for me).
Another thing I noticed is that there were several regular patients who also seemed happy to be there. I thought it a good sign that some people have been going there for years, and have an ongoing and friendly relationship with the people who work there.
I also like that they have evening appointments.
I really can’t recommend Dr. Gibbs and company enough. This was the best experience I’ve ever had at the dentist.

Dr. Gibbs is wonderful! We started going to her office on a recommendation about 5 years ago after two bad experiences elsewhere. One was at a chain type dental place and the other was w/​a pediatric dentist. Long story short, the ped dentist wanted me to throw down some serious money and put my 2 ½ yr old under anesthetic in hospital to have some dental work done… are you kidding, they are gonna lose those teeth people! Anywho, went to Dr. Gibbs for a second opinion. She took a much less aggressive approach but was able to get the work done in one office visit w/​laughing gas, no hospital stay needed and w/​out freaking out my kids. I feel like they are very honest and professional and will never try to talk you into work you don’t need. In addition they are excellent with children. Finally, they offer evening and weekend appts. If you are looking for a new dentist, go here!!!
