I was travelling through the area and spur of the moment tried this restaurant for lunch. It is in a small shopping center with several other food places I ordered the best kung pao tofu that I have ever had. Very tasty, nicely grilled tofu, very large portions and it included several types of vegetables. The waiter came by several times to check on me, but not hovering. I can’t wait to go back. Prices were higher than I usually spend for lunch, but I ended up having almost 3 meals since the portion was so big.

Needed good Chinese food to fill up our son after a football game at the nearby college. This was a great choice. Just a few minutes away, tablecloth restaurant but casual enough for him to hide helmet head. He ordered a lot of appetizers — ate them all. Sizzling rice soup is unusual and was very good/healthy, I’d order it again. Son had his usual chicken dish(in this case Sesame Chicken which looked just like Tso’s or Orange) and my husband and I split the Forbidden City Shrimp. For less than $ 16 it was a generous serving for 2 people once we stole all the broccoli off the boy’s plate. I had a whiskey sour that was technicolor and too sweet but also less than $ 6 — you get what you pay for. Loved the joke about the plants in another person’s comments — so true, but we liked it — it was cozy and the service was friendly and prompt and we are looking forward to going back again. Maggie’s is expensive and the bar gets too loud on weekends, so this was a nice break from that.

I work next door to Forbidden City and our customers can’t say enough great things about the RESTURANT. Food is exceptional, prices are reasonable and the service is consistently great!

Great food, great service and reasonable price. The General Tso’s Chicken or To Fu are the best. This is the place our family gathers and we are happy every single time. Great job Forbidden City.

The city may be forbidden, but the artificial plant life is alive and well here. I’ve never seen so many fake philodendrons(philodendra?) in all my life! This should have been a warning sign that the cuisine was not anything more than you’d find at any run-of-the-mill takeout joint, but we were craving Chinese food while far away from our usual choices, so we settled in for dinner. We knew from the Unilocal reviews to expect big portions, so decided we’d just get what we wanted and take the rest home. But once we ordered Szechuan shrimp, spicy green beans and vegetable lo mein, the waiter’s eyes practically popped out of his head. He finally stammered, «That. .. very much. .. food!» We assured him we were fine with leftovers, and he left shaking his head. Hey, I appreciated his honesty. Nothing could have prepared me for the size of the dishes on the table, however. Seriously, any one of them could have fed three people. I can’t imagine who thought it was a good idea to create double entrees: it just made me feel guilty, especially when I had to ask for five different takeout boxes. The quality of the food was, as I said, very average. Everything had way too much sauce, and the lo mein noodles were overcooked. The spiciness added some interest, though, and the vegetables were all fresh, so there’s a bright spot. Would we go back? No. The décor creeped me out(all I could think was, how long has it been since they dusted those plants?) and it’s just wasteful to prepare that much food. They should offer half portions!

This is the first Chinese food restaurant we have tried since moving to Westminster about a year ago. The food is very good and portions are large enough for leftovers. I’ve never eaten in the restaurant itself; only carry-out(we live too far away for them to deliver). If we place a large enough order they will typically be eco-conscious and use a box from some of their supplies instead of a paper bag. We like the food enough that we haven’t tried any other Chinese food places in the area.

This is the best Chinese Resteraunt in this area. it is very clean, the food is fresh, and the service is fast and friendly. They are also great for carry out. It would be nice if they delivered.
