History

Established in 1977.

Our office was started in 1977 by Melvin Arbaugh. In 1982 Dean Camlin joined the staff as an intern project manager. By 1986 he had gained enough experience to sit for and pass the Architect Registration Exam, and received his license in October. In 1991 Mr. Camlin purchased the business from Mr. Arbaugh; the transition was completed when the firm was renamed in 1993. Having completed thousands of all kinds of projects through its history, Dean Robert Camlin & Associates, Inc. stands ready to provide you with the same high-​quality architectural design services employed on each of those projects.

My grandfather, Robert C. Camlin, was an architect for the Pennsylvania Railroad. One of his great regrets was that he never became licensed. I recall poring over his blueprints when I would visit as a child, and intuitively understanding the passenger terminals and other buildings they described. Thus in sixth grade I decided I wanted to become an architect, and in 1977 graduated from Kent State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design. I use my middle name in the business name in homage to my grandfather’s legacy and inspiration.
