Broth was ok. Pork feet was average not bad but not better than anywhere else. Veggies were good. Meat there were 3 tiny slices. Sausage there was 2 half pieces so really just 1 little piece. Blood cube 2. Not bad. The noodles ruined it for me. They were all broken into a million pieces. It’s as if I ate the bottom bowl leftovers from the last 20 customers. It was like eating Beefaroni by Chef boyardee. Pretty disgusting to eat it like that and a pain in the ass cuz it takes longer to eat. I told the employee and he just muttered something in broken English which I didn’t understand. Doesn’t matter why to me… only thing is what are u gonna do to fix it. Nothing. So 1 star for them. I looked around also. Everyone else was slurping up long noodles. They were all Vietnamese. I’m Korean. So I guess if they are gonna pull one over on someone better make sure it’s not a regular. Well this is my absolute favorite Viet dish. And I could have been a regular since my wife is always at the hair salon next door. But not anymore! Nor will I be bringing friends here. I’m the ice breaker and introduction person to all foods Asian to people. And I take them to the same spots over and over. This won’t be one of them.

My Vietnamese friend took me here to try banh beo for the first time ever, and I loveee it! For non-Viet people who are as confused as I was, it’s an appetizer that comes with 9, yes NINE, small dishes of thin rice crêpe, topped with minced shrimp and other yummy goodness. You drizzle a little chili sauce on top, scoop it out, and eat it in 1 – 2 bites. I usually can’t handle spicy, but this sauce is a must. Initially, I thought 9 was for us 4 to share, but no, after the first one, you’d want all 9 to yourself! I didn’t try their bun bo hue, which obviously is their specialty. Will have to get next time. Instead I ordered the broken rice with grilled beef and shrimp, and this was a solid dish. Cash only. Huge plus is that they have a tv, which was perfect since we wanted to watch game 7 of the basketball playoffs. Service, I think he’s the owner(?), was really nice too.

Soup is good, meat is okay, noodle need to improve. I ordered a large($ 7.50+ taxes), special, it’s come with pork blood, pig feet, sausages(i like the pork meat ball from other place better) the noodle is not that much and easy to break a part.

Came here because I was in dire need of soup. Drank 10 shots too many and my body is dehydrated lol. Anywho it was still 9:30am and most places weren’t open yet so I decided to try this place. Got the bun bo hue dac biet. I don’t eat spicy and this one wasn’t spicy at all so that was good. My friend loves spicy so she had to add a bunch of chili in there. I first noticed that the noodles broke off very easily. I did not like that. I also noticed that the noodles didn’t seem fresh. The broth was okay. Kind of plain. I don’t think I’ll be coming back here.

I always come here for bun bo hue. I love their thick noodle and soup. however, the green onion and cilantro sometimes look so old… they even used the bad ones, cant beleive they would serve the bad ones to customers. If it wasnt for this reason, they would give them a 5 star.

My aunt who lives around the area swore up and down that this was great for bun bo hue. I was visiting from Georgia. We went and I was highly disappointed. I ordered the deluxe bun bo hue. The soup: pretty bland Noodles: rough; not al dente. Portion: big I put a lot of chili for flavor. My aunt kept apologizing. She said there must be a change of cook. Nevertheless I will never come back.

My go to place for bun bo hue for two main reasons: their thick homemade noodles and their homemade chili paste. No other bun bo hue place serves this kind of noodle which are thicker and more al dente than the usual noodles, I love that. This is how authentic bun bo hue noodles are supposed to be, not the nasty soft noodles other places tend to serve. And their chili paste is to die for, one little spoon of this can have have you screaming and breathing fire… seriously. This is hardcore chili and it makes the otherwise bland broth into something spectacular. Be prepared to have a runny nose. What makes it even more awesome is that you can buy a jar of the chili paste for a lil over 5 bucks. Its worth it, I have one in my fridge and it tastes good with anything, especially soups. There are definitely other places that have way better broth, meat, and veggies. But I’m a noodle fanatic, so I always come back here for the noodles. As for drinks, their Nhan Nhuc — longan drink is made daily, its refreshing and not too sickly sweet like some places are. It balances out the spiciness :)

Took my friend here after golfing at Torrey Pines. We were tired from the defeat, hungry, & the weather was starting to get chilly. We were both visiting Orange County, so I suggested this place. Boy, we both were happy with the choice. We ordered Banh Beo Chen for appetizer, which is my favorite Vietnamese dish of all time. This place did not disappoint. Although I mentioned to my friend that some other places would add fresh(not the pre made snack type) pork rinds on top. He ordered a large & I a regular bowl of Bun Bo Hue. It tasted awesome, not overly spicy. The broth & sliced beef was tasty & aromatic. All ingredients were there, including the Cha Hue & cooked blood cubes. Only thing that was off was the big round rice noodles. They were too broken, probably not the fresh type. Otherwise I would have given it a 5 star. This place has been around for years, they must be doing something right. Cash only.

The weather in Orange County has finally cooled down, and what could be better than getting a bowl of Bún bò Hue? What is Bún bò Hue? It is a popular Vietnamese soup containing rice vermicelli(bún) and beef(bò), and Hue is a city in central Vietnam associated with the cooking style of the former royal court. The dish has a balance of spicy, sour, salty and sweet flavors and the predominant flavor is that of lemon grass. Compared to ph, the noodles are thicker an rounder. Bún bò Hue So definitely a hole-in-the-wall place, not for the faint of heart. When you walk in, you’ll get a big whiff of fishsauce or whatever that smell is. Don’t be alarmed. Sit down, order, eat. Eventually, the strong Asian food smell dissipates while you’re eating. My coworker ordered the traditional Bún bò Hue special combo, which contained beef, Vietnamese style pork sausage, pig feet, blood cake, and the noodles in the broth. I am not a fan of blood cake, so I chose #25, which had the beef, tendon, and pig feet To many people who aren’t used to eating ethnic Asian food, both dishes may seem too«exotic», but this restaurant does serve other variations of the soup. Bún bò is commonly served with lime wedges, cilantro sprigs, diced green onions, thinly sliced banana blossom, mint, basil, or Vietnamese coriander(rau ram), and raw bean sprouts. Chili sauce is added to the soup according to taste. The large bowl came to $ 9 per person, which included tax and tip. It definitely hit the spot on a cold, rainy day.

I wasn’t impressed with the place. Had a bad smell. Also, the service wasn’t great! Wouldn’t go back!

The Bun Bo Hue here is really good and Bun Thit Nuong looks very delicious. Mi Quang is not that good, the taste is not strong enough but its soup is super delicious. What I don’t like about this restaurant is that it’s kinda small and a bit smelly. But the food is really good so I don’t really mind!

My friend and I ordered the banh beo and bun bo hue. The flour for the banh beo was very thick. Didn’t taste anything but flour. As for the bun bo hue, the meat was chewy and the broth was not flavorful. The only good/fresh thing was the pork cake.

This is the only place I go to when I’m craving bun bo hue. I like that the soup comes out piping hot. The soup is not that flavorful anymore. Their chili oil is super spicy so beware. The prices have gone up a bit over the years.

They have the real deal: real authentic Hue food. And I mean it hard core Hue food, which I love. My favorite place to come when I am in town now. Lunch time can be a little busy, you might have to share a table.

Presentation was good . I ordered a number 29(supposedly just everything but without pig feet) And guess what was in my bowl ?? Gah … Found a long strand hair in my water too! The noodles were undercooked as well . I mean they were so hard I just ate the bean sprouts and garnishes that came on the side instead . Not sure if I’ll be back.

I wanted Bun Bo Hue so I went to a restaurant that specializes in that. This is probably the best Bun Bo broth I’ve taste. It’s similar to VN on how authentic it taste. The only thing that made me not enjoy the meal was the the noodles. The noodles are cut up in small pieces, which means I can’t put in the amount I want in my mouth when I’m slurping up the noodles. They lose 2 stars because of that.

Definitely not the number 1 place for bun bo hue. Not sure if it was a bad day but the noodles were kind of dry, cut into small segments(supposed to be long), and varied in size! The soup was sub par. My café sua da tasted like it was watered down. Well guess what, came up to pay and saw the worker pour hot water into ALREADYMADECOFFEE. I could have forgiven them and tried another day, but seeing them jip me with the coffee sealed the deal. Won’t be coming back :(

The good: Bun bo hue broth is not funky. it actually tastes natural and not a hint of MSG. The slices of beef tastes and smells fresh. The bad: Veggie presentation needs improvement. Portion size for the large bowl looks like a small to medium. Noodles were broken; pieces were too short. The ugly: Parking is not ample and it’s situated near a popular Phở restaurant so go figure. Restaurant is small as well, and they need to stock their restroom.

Bun bo hue wasnt all that. The noddles was kinda hard, my fiancè hadda add some fish sauce, hot sauce and salt to it. And it still didnt taste right. Bummer cuhz I was looking forward to it. Banh beo was alright. I hesitate first but order it anyways. It was blehh. Too oily. We also ask for a small bowl, it was dirty. Yea, not coming back.
