This review is not for any of the Doctors mentioned below. I do not care for the thrift shop looking furniture, vintage is the new thing. Hahaha anyways, this review is for Dr. Taylor Pham and she was amazing. I was scheduled for fillings and 2 wisdom extractions. She offered valium to calm my nerves but I lost my Rx and I was so embarrassed that the staff might think I’m a druggy. Dr. Pham happily wrote me a new one without any judgment.
I took two pills as instructed before the appointment but the valium failed on me, I felt nothing (no loopy or drowsy) and my leg was still shaking. When she injected the novacaine, I didn’t feel any prick at all as I originally imagined a sharp, quick painful prick. She pulled my wisdom teeth without any cracking sounds as I experienced before with my previous horrible dentist. I didn’t feel cold, sensitivity or irritated during the fillings. Usually, I flinched or teared up when I get fillings or injected. I keep thanking her in between the service and complimented her skills. I did not swell at all afterward. I went in at 11 am this morning today, and only took two pills of pain reliever so far and it is 12:10am now.
I called last minute for the office to fax my excuse note but the receptionist said they were closing. Dr. Pham called me 5 minutes later stating that she had faxed it for me. Superb customer service, and it’s not even her job. Dr. Pham and her staff are awesome, I never walked out of a dentist office feeling so pleasant. I’m so glad I went with her under my insurance policy.

This place is horrible even after Dr. Joyer left. Dr Huffman is not any better. All the negative reviews are true. My husband has had a chipped tooth and his cap has fallen off 4x. He finally gave up on fixing it. After 20 years of no cavities their old x ray machines and dingy chairs and instruments used found 2 cavities. The worst filling ever. Dr. Huffman pretty much did a square filling on a curved tooth, with the composite filling getting bonding to the tooth next to it. I couldn’t even thread a piece a floss in between the tooth. I Was in pain for 2 weeks. Until I finally found another dentist and more professional setting.
She has her office manager assist in fillings. The Dr. Herself wore flip flops and office manager not even in scrubs. After my filling was done they asked they asked me to spit and rinse in the sink. there was blood around the sink from a previous patient that hadn’t been cleaned. It’s an old office and dingy office, very outdated. Even when they took the dental utensils out out the sealed package they used regular scissors from like Office Depot, no medical shears and I could see a film on the mirrored instrument.
The hygienist was NOT gentle at all, office staff is ok but not at all friendly. Front office furniture is super old and like another Unilocaler mentioned looks from a thrift store. I was forced to come here bc of insurance and just as quickly left. I should’ve done it before my horrible experience of getting my filling. I DONT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE AND CERTAINLY WONT BE BACK.

if i could have put a zero i would have. i have never expeerienced such lousy service. the receptionist was answering another call and said to that person let me get rid of this other call. i heard the whole thing! rude! i would not go here ever!!! i’m changing my provider!!!

I chose Dr Joyer because it was on my HMO.
My first experience was was with Dr. Joyer. His heart isn’t in it. I had some minor issues that seemed to come from shotty work. There’s a female dentist at the office that helped me fix these issues and regain some faith in this office. If you have to go to Dr. Joyer I suggest that you ask for the female dentist.
My boyfriend went in and walked out (well stormed out) with an estimate that was almost 10k! Some of the things listed on the estimate were things he didn’t even know were issues. Like a mouthpiece that he would have to wear at night because he grinds his teeth in his sleep? He got a second opinion and the other dentist didn’t mention many thing that Dr. Joyer’s office did. We just moved to a new area and I have a new insurance and the new dentist also didn’t mention many of the things that Dr. Joyer’s office did.
Overall the office environment and it’s staff is acceptable. But I don’t like the feeling that I am being tricked into spending money I don’t have, on procedures I don’t really need. I hope my gut feeling is wrong. I suggest approaching any high estimates from them with caution and get a second opinion.

I was forced by an insurance change to be away from this dental office for two years, and I honestly believe that was the worst two years of dental care that, at that *other* place, my famiily and I have ever received. This year we all made it back to the offices of Boyd J Joyer Jr DDS, holla! So if you don’t count those missing two years, we have been customers for a total of 8 years altogether.
Some things to keep in mind:
1. Yes the lobby looks rinky-​dink and yes, the «thrift store» furniture is ugly. I don’t care, since I rarely have to wait in it for more than a few minutes.
2. Dr. Karen Huffman and her staff are experienced professionals and they have always done quality work for my family. This summer it turns out that the kids had cavities for the first time ever– the Dr was so good at distracting my boy that he wasn’t even aware that he was getting a novacaine shot! He asked me afterward why she kept tugging on his cheek like that, and I had to laugh. Yes, we all experienced ZERO pain during our fillings.
3. They will only use the kind of fillings that match your tooth color. In other words, NO MERCURY FILLINGS. My entire immune system thanks you, good doctor!
4. No games. They are straight up and honest in their charges and billing practices here. I have never had anybody use shady tactics or pressure me into extra services. My low blood pressure thanks you, good doctor!
5. No tvs — and you know what, I like it that way :). (Half the tv sets at that *other* dental office never worked, anyway.)
So if you’re shopping around for a no-​frills dentist that does basic, good work, I can happily recommend this one to you.

I finally made it into see Dr Joyer and he took me in fairly quickly. I can see where some folks could «mis-​understand» Debbie at the front desk. She is very direct and straight to the point. She was very patient with me as I was a little nervous about my visit. The waiting area is a little outdated and does seem «thrift store like» but honestly… who cares? Most of the best places to eat are outdated and look «thrift store like.» As long as the equipment is up to date and the chef (or in this case Dentist) gets the job done properly. Dr. Joyer examined my teeth and basically confirmed what I already knew. Was in and out within 45 min. Went over pricing with Debbie — didn’t really matter to me to what my insurance paid and how much the dentist charged. By the time I would have researched all that and tried to find a new dentist — and changed dentists through my insurance blah blah etc. I probably would have needed twice as much work done and it would have been twice the cost. So, I just rolled with the punches, scheduled my appointment and that was that. Upon my revisit I had to meet with Mary Ann the hygienist and I was being a big baby about the work I needed done — she was very pleasant and super nice. She it very relaxing and very easy to get my work done. Plus, she’s not to bad on the eyes. Either way — my experience with Dr Joyer and his staff has been great. The worst thing I can say about this office is I found out today that Mary Ann is leaving. I would recommend Dr Joyer and his crew to anyone. Thank you!

I had the worst experience with this office! I went to see them in severe pain, they charged me $ 175 for something that should have cost $ 15. The prices that they want quoted me for the work I needed done was $ 1300 and my insurance $ 440…big difference there! When I questioned this, they told me that they should be getting paid more and that they are no longer excepting my insurance. I filed a grievance and they totally lied to my insurance. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy!

My family’s been using Dr. Joyer since before my adult teeth came in. He’s consistently used the least invasive/​expensive techniques whenever possible, and always explains your options to make sure you have choices rather than steamrolling you. He’s also great about referring you out to specialists when he encounters something that requires an oral surgeon or endodontist. His office staff is highly competent and I’ve never had issues with overcharging or even impatience. I have paid extra to insure my dental coverage included his office, and at some points have even paid cash to continue seeing him. I currently drive 50 miles one way for my appointments because I trust him so much.

I have a perfect credit score, but the people at the office sent me to collections. I ve called them three times to try to pay my balance but they always say «so and so isnt in the office, shell be in monday» «the person that handles that will be in at 3 «please call back. Finally the third time I said look ive already called three times can you just take my credit card info and have that «person» please process the payment so I dont have to keep calling back. She took all my info and said yes she woud let her know. A week later I get another call from collections. The collections guy says «look I see you have very high credit score i dont want mess that up. «of course its high its like 2 points away from perfect! I proceed to ask him how he got my credit score did he run my credit bc I didnt authorize anyone to do so. He dodges the question no matter how many times I ask. I explain how I have never not made a payment and how my credit score reflects that. I am LIVID at the lack of professionalism in the office. I call the dental office and of course they dont answer. I have never had a problem trying to make a payment, and I find this very unprofessional and embarassing. Please avoid them there are many much better dental offices that handle things more professionally!

First of all, I am writing this while in severe pain because this doctor SUCKS! I chose this doctor based on my insurance list and hadn’t used them until today. Gawd, I wish they had reviews by their name when you choose.
Anyway, the receptionist Debbie was not kind seeing me in so much pain. I requested over and over if they could do anything for me and they did x-​rays and passed me to an Endodonist.
I checked to see if the Endodonist has any reviews and the answer was a big nope and I called my insurance to make sure they were covered.
I called Debbie back to tell her my insurance said they were not on the list and she rudely asked me why I called my insurance. How dare her! It’s my effin $$$!
Lastly, the office is outdated as well as their equipment. The chairs in the lobby seriously look like they are from the thrift store. No lie! Stay away from this place if you are looking for courtesy and caring people.
