I have been here several times for lunch, not dinner or dancing. I highly recommend the egg rolls, banh xeo, and bo luc lac. They give you banh trang for the banh xeo so you can roll it all together. Makes it easier to eat. Service has never been great, not even good. I would say less than average. The last time we were there, there was only 1 guy for 3 tables. One table had probably 15 people. We had 7 in our party. The other table had 4. So, service was really slow.

Surprisingly they have a really good lunch menu. Their garlic rice salmon and Banh Xeo is a must try. They are known for the live band and music at night, but they also serve lunch. A must try if you are around the area or at court for jury duty. It’s only a little walk from the Westminster court house.

Worst service ever!!! Bought tickets to see a concert and wanted to RSVP a table. The lady took my name down and said she’ll give to the owner to save me one. Called a few times before the show to confirm and all the people I spoke to confirmed I got a table. On the day of the concert, I called and asked for Quoc, the owner of the restaurant to confirm one more time. He didn’t want to speak to me and so I asked the guy over the phone to check if I have a table rsvp or could set me up a table. The guy said sure and just come. I came at the time of opening and told them my name, no Table was reserved and my name was nowhere to be found. So ended up with no table and standing at the bar. If you take reservations just say so. Don’t promise people and not keep your promise. Never come back here again.

I went here for lunch a few months ago with a few of my cousins. It was pretty dead but I think it’s because people go here more for the club at night. I tried several of their dishes. I found the food here to be pretty good. Some of my favorite dishes were the vietnamese crepes and the garlic fried rice. I’ve never been here at night so I’m not sure how the nighttime scene is but I did like the food.

False Advertisement! Booked a private AYCE party here for $ 25/person(that’s pretty expensive considering it only consisted of Fried Rice, Goi, Chicken Wings, Shish Kabob, and Eggroll). When the food was done, the only thing they refilled was the Fried Rice that had Chinese sausage and eggs only! When we booked them over the phone the owner was so nice and even offered us the private room. When we got there… holy sh*t the room looked like crap! We had to rearrange the tables ourselves, asked for table cloth, and decorate the place! When we asked for some lighting, they said they didn’t have any(of course they wouldn’t because all the customers would see how DIRTY the place really is)! All they had were freaking X-mas lights hanging! Then we asked for music he said he didn’t know how to turn it on??? We had to buy our drinks at the bar(and the bartender was no where to be found half of the night). It was such a horrible atmosphere, so we left by 8PM even though we had the place till 9PM. We showed them our«check in 10% off» offer on Unilocal and the owner said it’s not for big parties?! BEWARE: FALSEADVERTISEMENT!!! AND of top of that she charged us a SERVICEFEE that was NEVER even mentioned when we booked her! This place just lost 40 customers!!! We will never come here ever again!

stale beers and bad music = not coming back here they have two rooms as you enter the front door. The room on the left(XO lounge) has no cover charge while the right room(bleu) has a cover charge. We found out that if you came in from the XO lounge to the other room, you dont have to pay the cover charge. Weird but it worked for us so i’m not going to question it.

I’ve ordered TO-GO here many times before, & it was just as good as it would’ve been at the restaurant at home. If that made any sense, but I actually came for a sit down dinner with my family on a Tuesday evening. No was was really there(ThankGod) so we our food came out really fast. Service was good. There’s not one item I’ve tried that I didn’t like, but I recommend ordering the Banh Xeo as an appetizer. You won’t regret it.

I have never gone here at night to dancing or night club stuff, but I have been here a couple times for food haha The food is actually really decent! My family really likes it. Their Mi Xao Don is good and they have this Mango Salad that they’re known for. I have tried several of their Rice Plates, they’re really good too. Each dish is well mastered and has different tastes. Very good quality for the price. Price is decent just like every other Asian food place, but it’s clean and they make the dishes look really nice. And I like the atmosphere, it is not a typical Asian restaurant, the place is pretty dim… Sometimes it is hard to see what I’m eating lol. It’s a good place for like a date or like meal with some closed friends. It saddens me that this place is not as crowded as it should be because their food is actually really good. I think just not a lot of people have known to try their food since they always think its like a bar and stuff.

After years of driving by this place I stumbled across a deal on Groupon and thought I would finally give this place a try. If you look up average in the dictionary it may have a picture of this place accompanying it. As we walked in the door I was a bit surprised to see that the building is basically split into two separate sections, one for the restaurant and one for the club. As we walked in the door(approximately an hour after open) we saw that we were the only guests in the building and no one was available up front to greet anyone. After a few minutes of absent mindedly standing around looking lost we were finally greeted and taken to a table by the bartender(who was doubling as the waiter/server). He quickly took our drink order and brought it to the table. We both went with iced tea which is pretty standard for us but we were both a bit disappointed by its lack of flavor. The tea itself was large in volume but simply tasted like colored water. For our meal we both decided upon the Grilled Chicken Garlic Noodle dish. The chicken was grilled nicely and did have quite a bit of flavor and the garlic noodle accompaniment was also quite nice. The portion as a whole was filling and I even had a bit leftover to bring home. The mushrooms, broccoli and other assorted vegetables were still partially raw and did not taste like they were cooked through thoroughly. The pricing was decent for the size of the dish but the flavors overall did not mesh well as a whole. Although our waiter is primarily the bartender he did a pretty good job of serving us and keeping up with refills and checking on us throughout the meal. He was very friendly and never failed to make small talk when he saw our Groupon deal. Upon the completion of our lunch we decided to try the fried bananas with ice cream for dessert but were told that they were out. As there was no alternative we were interested in we decided that dessert would be better suited elsewhere. How you run out of a dessert so early in the afternoon with hours of service remaining is beyond me but it happens and seems to be more frequent these days which is a bit concerning. This place looks like it is trying to hard to be too many things at once. While the place seems to have a great nightlife due to the lounge and club the restaurant seems to me to take a bit of a backseat in the grand scheme. Overall this was a average experience with average food that could be gotten elsewhere and delivered more effectively. I am glad that I tried the place as it was a restaurant I have had bookmarked for awhile but I honestly do not see me coming back, but I will never say never as crazier things have happened.

Meh… Hubby got a Groupon for a lunch here and we finally made it over. This place seems to be busy at night but quite dead otherwise. We came in an hour after it opened and were the only two there the whole time. We stood there for about five minutes or what seemed like it before we were seated. We both got an iced tea. It was quite light in color and just tasted like water. I guess I could have gotten the water for free. Room seemed fine… pretty decent looking. There was a stage for groups to play music. tables and stools for the nightclub… darker aura which I never mind. They played what seemed like elevator music during the time that we were there. We both also got the grilled chicken, soy marinated with garlic noodles and it came with veggies. The garlic noodles were fine. Not a lot of flavor but not bad. I did enjoy the taste of the soy marinated grilled chicken but my husband pointed out that it reminded him of flame broiler’s chicken. Veggies had big, crinkled cut slices of carrots, broccoli, and mushroom. The carrots were a bit hard but I eat carrots raw and cooked so it didn’t matter much. Broccoli was fine. Mushrooms looked like sprouts that were plucked and cooked. I never ate any like that before. We asked for the fried banana dessert.(Banana tempura with ice cream) We were told that they were out, and it was noon and they had been open for two hours. I won’t ask… Waiter was friendly. He was actually the bartender but they had him come in and help for dining for the day. Food was mediocre, probably won’t be back personally, but some of you may love it, especially the party people.

I’m a Banh Xeo lover and my aunt takes me all over random places in orange county to try when she tries new ones. I must say when I got here, I was like uhhhhm what are we eating at the azn club?! Yes, we were. hahaah The Banh Xeo comes in two, the batter is perfectly crisp and the meat & sprouts filling compliment each other well. They also bring out fresh lettuce and mint as well as rice paper sheets for those who like to roll their Banh Xeo. For only $ 5.95, I will gladly come eat 2 Banh Xeos here any day(It isn’t hard to make, but it is a little laborious and it makes your house smell like shit) BUT, I am really not a fan of the atmosphere. I am super confused as to whether this place is a restaurant or a bar/club. I understand places that open as a restaurant during the day and then convert to a club by night, but it seems like this place tries to be both at once… all day, everyday. When I went to eat at 3pm, and my meal was disturbed by maintenance setting up for their night event followed by CHECKCHECKCHECK123 on the stage the ENTIRE time. I went to eat at 6pm a second time where I guess a talent show was airing at 8pm, and holy moly… All dinner conversation was canned as multiple people came out and sound checked. If this place is actually meant to be a club all day then sorry, I am eating at your club, disregard my comment But, if you want to be a restaurant AND a nightclub(which is totally fine), could you please have separate hours? Diners from 11 – 8. Close to set up. Then open up again and go from 10 – 2. I would, however, come back specifically for the Banh Xeo. But the next time, I’m coming at noon and I sure hope that there is no random noise/set ups for the evening.

I’ve been here several times and I keep forgetting to write up a review — though I was too wasted on all occasions by the time I got here so this review may be a bit skewed if you know what I mean? :p By the time we got here, it was already –redesigned– for use as a night club. I was a bit confused because I thought we were going out for a late dinner. Is it a restaurant? Is it a night club? Is it a karaōke bar? I didn’t care at that point, all I wanted was food in my alcoholic tummy and having too much shots I needed something substantial. The” Bu Loc Lac”(shaking beef) popped right at me with this awesome picture«saying,» order me, order me. Surprisingly, it was delicious. The execution and the presentation with the rare filet Mignon, neatly arranged and cubed was just outstanding — not to mentioned the right seasoning with the garlic noodles too. I was a happy camper. They also had plenty of drinks to go around and since we all pitched in and RSVP for a full service table and lounge, we had the works from hard liquor, to champagne to famous sweet wine from Vietnam; a whole concoction drinks if you ask me. Here’s the fun part, get this — an hour later, man this place got swamped! It was karaōke time and we were in the middle of it all. So the live band started their intro and then one by one, each full table got up, and started to sing their heart out including the famous Vietnamese singers that arrived with their very own private fancy booth. I of course opted out, but I was forced by a majority vote to sing one song, and since I was so wasted what do I have to loose! And after all that singing, it was time to get down and shake it. Too bad they close early unlike in Manhattan — they party till dawn! All in all, this place rocks at night especially as a night club. I am not sure what it’s like during the day as a restaurant or even during dinner, but all I know is come here with your buddies, hangout, sing, dance and RSVP a table and you will have the time of your life. I will definitely be back!

A surprising place to get a decent, value-priced lunch. While not as many items available as other more typical Viet eateries, there are enough options to satisfy anyone(though I’m hesitant to try phở at a non-phở place). Bo Luc Lac is tasty and well prepared, serviced with white rice and side salad. Egg Rolls are delicious. Banh Xeo is nice and crispy, but it helps if you ask them to do it with not too much oil. Service was quite attentive and quick.

We’re FINALLY back with some Food Porn y’all!!! Whoohoooooo are you just excited as I to get your Friday started off right? Scrumptious eats and a stupendous appetite… my recipe for the perfect loooooong holiday weekend! I’ve blogged about this local mainstay before, but with new management, a new direction on their casual, comfortable French– Vietnamese cuisine, and a possible new image in the works(sshhhh don’t spill the beans!) Bleu Restaurant and nightclub is quietly creeping straight up my rotating hit list of local faves. Here’s what’s on the menu today: Mango Salad with grilled shrimp and pork over julienned young mango with house special vinaigrette topped with fried shallots. PURE summer heaven! I’d dis the shrimp and savor this scrumptious salad sans protein. Such a refreshing first course especially when you’re about to chomp into a chunky steak.(Which I did, evidently) The crunchy green mango paired with raw cabbage sure did satisfy my pervasive salad cravings and topped with fresh fried shallots, really tipped it through the roof! They’ve since taken my first fave grapefruit salad off their menu since it’s seasonal, so this was a very suitable second fave. Grilled Salmon Crispy Rice with lemongrass garlic sauce: Grilled salmon with side salad and crispy rice topped with scallions and fried shallots. Sake sashimi is always my fave when dining out for sushi so I rarely ever like my salmon cooked. But this tender, chunky slice of caramelized fish was such a delight for my senses; I would definitely come back for more! Perfectly pink with some slight rawness at the center is really how salmon is done right y’all. I lovelovelove crispy rice with just about anything and can really appreciate when restaurant quality creations serve it super crunchy with barely any trace of oil. A total HIT! Garlic rice is another option for their salmon, so when you order it this way, they serve the protein grilled in garlic butter sauce instead. I prefer the former over the latter, but they’re both just as tasty. Vietnamese Egg Rolls: House Special pork egg rolls served with lettuce, julienned carrots, and chili lime sauce. THEBESTEGGROLLS in Bolsa y’all! I’m NOT an egg roll fan but it’s like they put crack in that crunchy wrapping. Almost akin to the famous egg rolls in Tran Qui Cap’s noodle and rice bowls, except slightly more savory and wayyyyy more delicious when served with crispy fresh greens. Definite MUST for an appetizer. Manila clams sautéed with special basil garlic sauce. A total nhau(drinking) dish. Very mild in comparison to the beachy flavors you’d find if these babies were freshly plucked from the sea. I’d say it’s missing garlic. Like loads of it to really amp this plate up. Pass. Sizzling White Fish: Cha Ca Thang Long. Turmeric marinated white fish grilled with baby dill and onions on a sizzling plate served with vermicelli and Asian herbs. I used to think Song Long(Westminster) had everyone beat in this category. I don’t think that anymore y’all! Sizable chunks of sizzling sole topped with loads of salted peanuts and sweet shallots for the perfect balance. Served with fresh greens and bouncy rice noodles on the side, I’d skip all that hoopla and dive straight into the fish. If you’re true Viet, you’d drench this in squid paste… I’m really only a quarter Viet, so the protein is plenty fishy to me ;D Asian Style Roasted Quail with a side of garlic rice. These babies have been soaked and seasoned in house special soy sauce before they reach the roast so by the time they’re delivered tableside, they’re literally gleaming in juicy goodness. I mean look at her skin! If she’s glowing on the outside, you bet your ass she’d be just as lustrous on the inside. Beauty truly comes from within y’all. New York Steak in Red Wine Sauce: Grilled pepper marinated New York steak in a red wine reduction sauce served with a side salad and sweet potato fries. I used to be your quintessential meat-and-potatoes kinda gal but ever since Doc scared me into laying off the reds, I’ve been missing out in the meantime. But sometimes, just sometimes, you treat yourself to a honkin’ piece of meat and you make sure each bloody cut is just as satisfying as the next. This steak DIDNOTDISAPPOINT! Already seasoned with garlic and peppercorn, you really don’t even need the red wine reduction on the side, but it’s just too yummy to not drench the steak with! Gorgeous dish, I really was in heaven. 5 days of straight heart-pumping cardio ensued, but man oh man was it worth it! Bön Appetit mes amis!

«Are you sure you want to eat there for dinner tonight? Whose idea was it? Why do you want to eat there while there are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants in the OC?» I was very skeptical. I’ve driven by this place so many times in the past five years after I moved to the OC and every time I wondered why this place hasn’t gone out of business yet. I am not saying I am pessimistic, but every time I passed by during the day or even at night, there was not many cars outside. Mmmm… but last time we dined there, it seemed that they were still in business. My friend’s aunt talks about this place million times and their delicious food. I can’t believe that old Vietnamese people actually eat here. Is it a club? Is it a bar lounge? Is it a restaurant? I am confused. In my mind, the food tastes so bad that I believe that they should rename it Bleu Dancing and Restaurant. Come to dance, not to eat. So, we ordered phở, bun thit nuong cha gio, grilled salmon rice, and steak. I didn’t try the latter two dishes, so I can only tell you about the first two. My phở broth was so bland that I had to dump in a lot of hoisin sauce. The noodles were overcooked, it stuck on to each other and compiled into a big chunk. Being a Vietnamese restaurant and serving phở on the menu, they totally disregard the other kind of greens besides basil leaves and sprouts. I was so disappointed. I did not finish my phở and had to stuff myself with sushi afterwards. On the other hand, the boyfriend loved his bun thit nuong cha gio(charcoal grilled pork and egg roll vermicelli). He described the egg roll as home made fresh, crunchy, and delicious filling. Still being confused after I dined there last week, but one thing I know for sure I won’t be coming back here for a Vietnamese food fix in the future.

BANHXEO My mom raves about the banh xeo here. It’s freshly made, crunchy, and just plain delicious. It’s the only place in little saigon that i go to for it. The veggies are aplenty and fresh as well, and they accommodate if you only want shrimp, or tofu. I’ve never partied here, but I’ll definitely be back on of these days to do so… and to try the other things on the menu.
