Consignment is in my DNA. When I was a teenager in Kentucky, my mom opened a consignment clothing store. I thought it was the coolest thing that my mom had such guts and such an entrepreneurial spirit. And I helped her – a lot – in my spare time.

We loved to consignment shop together. It was our passion. Wherever and whenever we would travel, we always stopped at the local consignment stores, and we dreamed of owning a shop together. And the end of Mom’s battle with cancer in 2000, I told her I would pursue our dream if she promised that I would feel her presence in our store each day.

Since then, I’ve never looked back. I planted a hibiscus from Mom’s funeral in the front of the store, and it bloomed like crazy. Mom is certainly with me. And I find myself making decisions using one simple question: «What would my mom do?»
