Anarbagh Indian Restaurant

Just had lunch. What a delight. I LOVE the food here. The service is fantastic and the Indian food is top notch. I’m very picky about Indian food and I’m super happy there is a good place in the agoura hills area. I highly recommend

This place is great. We had a great lunch. It looks like it is closed because of construction, but it is definitely open.

Best Indian in all of Southern California. Services is excellent and food is incredibly delicious. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

The food was very good overall. The kids enjoyed the chicken curry in particular and the naan, followed by chicken korma. I like the egg biryani but the kids didn’t. They would have preferred plain white rice. The soups were both on the bland side and a bit pricey for a cup; my kid loves lentil soup (they call it Mulligatawny soup) but he took a few spoonfuls and was done… I tried it and yes, it was bland and somewhat watery. I added a lot of salt and slurped it down. I also had the chicken soup, which for $ 4.95 was not worth it. The bill came and for just me and two kids it was over $ 70 before tax and tip. Just a bit much but everything is a la carte, including the naan, and that adds up.
Service and cleanliness were outstanding. Very professional. My only peeve that knocked my rating down a notch is that I kept smelling cigarette smoke. It was moderately faint but smelled like it was coming from the kitchen area. One server brought complimentary baklava and his breath smelled like he had just expelled smoke. If you can’t refrain from smoking, you probably shouldn’t be serving food, but that’s just me.

This place was so good. Huge fan and will keep coming back. My mom and I came here around 8 PM. As soon as we arrived, we were treated like queens. The manager suggested us two great plates, the Chicken Tikka Masala (SO GOOD — I could eat it all day) and the Shrimp Korma (again, delicious delicious and delicious). We also ordered garlic and basil naan which was to die for. The Egg Biryani rice was also very very good. They gave us some chili oil on the side to make the dishes hotter if we wanted to. We also got a little appetizer of flat chips of some sort that came with a myriad of dipping sauces. We left a super full and would 100% come back.
Great service, great management, and very kind and friendly faces. Also, the food is just… SO. GOOD. I dream of it.

Excellent food, fantastic service but slightly overpriced. Not overpriced enough for me to never go back, but certainly something to keep in mind.

Great food, been coming here for lunch for a while now. There’s construction happening to the building they’re in, so it’s a little hidden, but it’s been open every day I’ve come to eat.
Service is always attentive and the prices are very reasonable for lunch.

First time, went for lunch — usually eat at lal mirch.
Chicken tikka masala was tasty, enjoyed the naan, veggie soup n starter cracker chips.
Also had the lamb bundi (sp?)
I’ll definately come back and try their other stuff, saag, the rice, …

Excellent dinner. Attentive service. The strip mall is having it’s façade redone, but don’t let that deter you. Is a great experience. My favorite Indian in the Conejo Valley.

UGH, why is the food here SO GOOD?!
I’m so glad I gave it another chance to get their feet in on the ground. Anarbagh, you’ve been my favorite «turn around» story on Unilocal.In fact, I don’t even remember what my last review was — This restaurant has gotten me out of the Unilocal freeze.
We went with a large group today — about 10 of us and sat in the pretty «Chandler room» Food was all amazing as usual and everyone was very very attentive. It was the lovely Miss Jennifer’s birthday, and they even brought out this amazing yummy dessert for us all to share and the manager came out to serve everyone. Such a great experience.
Always go Medium, Always get Naan (and if you’re with a friend for lunch one get Naan the other get rice — TONS to share), Always get the Masala Iced Tea!

We always enjoy their food.
We have eaten in, had take out and delivery. It’s always been good! No complaints. I will eat there again and again.

Far and away the best Indian restaurant I have been to.
The restaurant itself is clean and well lit. The staff are very professional and attentive without being intrusive — a rare feat.
The food is amazing. Truly authentic Indian dishes, cooked to perfection.
The Garlic Naan was lovely. Lamb Vindaloo to die for. Chicken Jalfrezi and Chicken Tikka Bhuna very Moreish. The egg Biryani was light and fluffy and full of flavour.
Peeped my head into the kitchen and it was absolutely spotless.
I truly cannot say anything bad about this restaurant and refer it to you without reservation.

We are regulars in Anarbagh Woodland Hills. First time in the Westlake restaurant and not disappointed.
Relatively large party of 7. Enjoyed everything we had, starting with lamb Samosas, Raita and Kima Naan. Moving to Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tika Masala, Lamb Vindaloo, Lamb Korma ans Sag Paneer. All exploding with great flavors.
Nice Masala Chai and Pistachio Kulfi for desert.
Service was polite and relaxed.
Highly recommended.

This place is AWESOME! Perfect execution. Perfect spice. Great service. We loved it!!!

The Chicken Tandoori, chicken tikka, lamb tikka and seekh kabab combo smothered in onions and spices is so delicious. This isn’t a dish we normally order when we go out for Indian food just because we love the gravy type dishes. We went with our waiter’s recommendations and loved it. The chicken wasn’t dry as this dish tends to be everywhere. I’m definitely going to try Fish Tandoori next time we come. He also recommended the Chicken Biriyani with crispy onions and cilantro on top. The rice is fried in this dish, I’m use to having it baked, I highly recommend trying out their variety of Biryani’s they have. I will be sampling the shrimp one on my next trip out. The waiters personal favorite was the Paneer in a nice Cashew butter spice sauce, and it was creamy and had a nice sweetness to it. The sauce was amazing as I dragged that spicy Chicken Biryani rice through it. The garlic Naan is a must too. We got complimentary dessert– it is very similar to Baklava (or maybe it was) — with chunks of Pistachios in there and it had a nice orange honey flavor. Awesome service, we loved all of our waiter’s recommendations.
The shopping plaza this restaurant is located in is currently undergoing some major repairs to the face of the whole plaza so it is a bit hard to find but it is in the TJ MAX shopping plaza directly across straight back.

Yum! This place is a hidden gem. I come here with the fam sometimes and we usually order a ton of stuff and share. My favorite is the chicken tikka masala. The naan is also highly recommended. For a healthier low fat choice I would say the chicken tikka with brown rice.
They always remember my nieces and nephew’s favorite drinks and make an effort to chat with them. The restaurant itself is a pretty small, cute space. It’s not particularly fancy but super clean and has some chandeliers around typical of most Indian or Middle Eastern places. They love that bling bling.

Was recommended to go here as they had recently opened. This place is sort of hidden in strip small that is anchored by TJ Max. The center is going thru some remodeling of the store fronts making the entrances a little obscure.
The décor is a little confusing as it wants to be modern but still trying to retain the culture.
The staff are all Indian (I think) — all male. Some speak English and some don’t. They are nice and attentive but not overbearing.
Good selection of Indian beers. Had the Taj Mahal and Flying Horse (22oz). Both very similar in flavor and light.
Ordered lots of food to include chicken samosa, lamb masala — lamb coconut curry, chicken makhini, lamb tikki, garlic naan, mushroom and egg rice dishes, and curry mussels. All dishes were seasoned well with lots of spices as I was anticipating. I ordered the makhini extra spicy. Everything had lots of sauces which worked well with the rice and naan. We ordered more food than we could eat but that allowed us to taste as much food as we could. The portions are large and we could have gotten away with just 2 dishes for a family of 4.
Good food experience overall. Would definitely return.

The area, which was void of authentic international cuisines, has done a little better job at attracting places to dine over the past several years. Anarbagh has joined the crusade, and is a welcomed addition.
Cute as a button. Located in a strip-​mall in desperate need of the remodel, Anarbagh did a really nice job transforming this square box into a little nirvana. Pretty nice size with 30 or more tables and a private room for small party dining. The painted wall murals are gorgeous.
Demerit 1.0 star, no lunch buffet. It’s impossible for me to get only 1 item with Indian food. I like a smorgasboard of an entee, a rice, a veggie or two, and naan (of course). They do offer lunch specials for $ 11 – 16 that include one items + rice or soup + naan. But I had to, I must, go beyond the ordinary.
1. The vegetable soup was unreal. Totally delish, and the fresh herbs did it justice. (4.5 stars)
2. Chicken Tikka — served sizzling on a platter, white meat and boneless. Very good, but a little dry. (4.0 stars)
3. Chicken Tikka Masala — so dang good, the highlight (as it should always be for my palette). (4.5 stars)
4. Eggplant Bharta — perfection (4.5 stars)
5. Rice — Small basmati. well-​cooked, but far from great. (3.0 stars)
6. Naan — eh, not crispy. Tried the regular and the garlic. (3.0 stars)
7. Iced Chai Tea — refreshing, freshly brewed. (4.5 stars)
I got nearly the same items at Akash down the street, and I like this much better. The service was kind, but not overly talkative or friendly (3.0 stars), this could be improved. Overall, I’ll be back.

I am passionate about food. I tend to be extra critical when it comes to Indian food, I was born and raised in India and have been fortunate to relish food from north of India to way down south. I have been very critical with my earlier reviews about Indian restaurants — This is a general classification — my personal view.. 90% serve bad Indian stereotype. 5% try their best to serve real authentic food. the rest 5% are in between.
The newly opened Anarbagh on the intersection of Lindero and TO Blvd falls in that category, they are not very authentic, but what they serve is decent.
India is a vast country and each state speaks its own language and has its own script. Person from one state don’t understand the language of the other. So you can well image the cuisine — but like most Indian restaurants these guys serve the typical Mughlai and north Indian cuisine. But claiming to be authentic is a bit too far fetched.
On ground reality:
We were treated well. The seating is spacious, they have some beautiful chandeliers and murals — not necessarily depicting India, but much better than those restaurants that have couple of silk curtains just loosely hung for the sake of it. No restaurant back home does that.
I ordered the mango lassi and samosa for starters: it was the best looking samosa amongst the ones i have tried in the recent past, but definitely not the most flavorful. Nicely done potatoes and peas as filling. I still think they were better than most and they can improve the flavor profile by adding a couple spices.
Mango lassi was just about OK, not the best, there was definitely some aftertaste.
Then i ordered the naan — they gave me an assorted basket — one of them had coconut + raisins as filling! That just doesn’t go well with any of their gravy/​entrees. I did not like that one bit, I liked the regular and garlic naans though. It was fresh.
I had the lamb rogan josh along with the naan. The flavors did not stand out, but not bad at all. Lamb was cooked well and the gravy was not too bad. Pretty bland in-​spite of the request to make it spicy.
The biryani was a disaster. i is definitely not cooked like the way an authentic biryani is cooked, i looked and tasted more like Masala rice with chicken.
The best order was that of chicken tandoori, They claim to have the traditional clay oven, this was excellent. The spice rub and marinade came across beautifully. I relished it. I took the chicken by the bone and devoured it. It was just perfect.
They have a decent dessert selection. The mango ice cream sucked totally. I just couldn’t eat it. I think they combined dry coconut or something that totally messed the flavor profile. But the Gulab Jamun was great.
Plenty of parking, the busboys were great, service was good. I may go back to try again. But with not many Indian restaurants nearby, this i guess is the best bet.
