Advanced Optometrics has been in Westlake Village since 1989. Prior to Dr. Lieberman, Dr. Harris Ziff was the optometrist in this location for 25 years. Thus, our practice has been in this location since 1966.

Meet the Business Owner

Dr. Jeffrey Lieberman, O D.

Business Owner

A graduate of California State University, Northridge and the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry. Dr. Lieberman received his doctorate in 1989. His training was completed in northern California at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, Oak Knoll Hospital in Oakland, and at Mare Island Eye Clinic in Vallejo, California.

Prior to his optometric training, Dr. Lieberman was a Master Optician for ten years with an extensive background in all optical laboratory sciences and procedures.

As an optometrist, Dr. Lieberman’s goal is to provide his patients with the highest quality of eye care. He holds a therapeutic pharmaceutical license. This is the highest level of of education and training for an optometrist. He can diagnose and evaluate eye problems, eye injuries and provide treatment to a variety of eye diseases.

Dr. Lieberman is an active member of the American Optometric and California Optometric Associations.

The staff at Advanced Optometry are so kind! I walked in today with glasses where one lens popped out because a screw came loose. Within 15 minutes they had it fixed, and for free! I was not expecting this kind of service. I am so impressed. Thank you again for helping me, it made my day.

Awesome awesome awesome. Dr. Dean Steinberger managed to squeeze us in last minute on a Saturday. So professional! What a great guy. Knowledgeable, patient, and funny. Top-​of-​the-​line office, staff, and laboratory. Extremely happy!

We have had very good experiences with this office. Both Docs on staff were very good with our family. They excel at taking time to perform exams and explain results. The only concern I have is the frames are expensive even with good insurance coverage. Add on features for the lenses (anti glare, anti scratch, etc) end up making the cost of a new pair of glasses out of reach for most people.

Good experience with Dr. Steinberger. Staff was very courteous. Facility is well kept. This is my first time with contacts and Dr. S. was very patient with me. Had several visits to try different strengths to see what would work best (I wear multifocal lenses). Only slight disappointment is that my order for a supply of contact lenses is taking longer than expected. Told I would have them last Thursday but now being told Tues/​Wednesday this week. Delay could be on the supplier’s end I suppose.

Received very thorough examination. Dr. Sternberger and Stephanie very personable. Office pleasant and clean. Modern equipment and no dilation necessary for small copay, therefore no issues during the day for reading, driving, etc. Was disappointed in explanations regarding lens options/​choices/​costs for progressive lenses. Will definitely return for future exams but will continue to buy glasses elsewhere.

My experiences with Advanced Optometry have been excellent. My company has worked directly with Dr. Steinbergerer and his friendly staff. The office is clean and organized. They paid their invoices promptly and with a smile. Though I do not wear corrective lenses I am comfortable referring them to those who do.

Horrendous Office. Dr. Steinberger was dishonest on pricing and the total outrageous cost for an eye contact exam was $ 360!!! Never in my life have I been so ripped off by an optometrist office. Do not go here!

Had a wonderful experience having my eye exam today. The lady who helped me find my glasses was really nice and very very helpful. She tried really hard to find a pair that would look just right on me and she did!
Dr. Steinberger was wonderful. I felt like I received a very thorough exam. He didn’t neglect anything. He also answered ALL my questions and was able to diagnose A problem I’ve had for years. Now I’ve got some eye drops and cleanser and already notice improvement.
Their facility is very clean and welcoming.
I thought things a bit pricey but I’m sure it’s that way in many private practices. I still highly recommend Dr. Steinberger and his staff

CAUTION. One of the WORST customer service experiences ever. If I could give this place less than one star I would. Unprofessional, inaccurate, and completely problematic from start to finish. No one is in the office when you enter (take this as sign). I am not one to write reviews but made a Unilocal account for the sole purpose of hopefully helping someone avoid this terrible nightmare of a ‘doctors’ office.

Thank you for fixing my cool Cartier Platinum sunglasses.
These glasses mean a lot to me. They are of the best quality and I worry
about who will fix them. Not only did they do a great job on replacing the broken lens
they gave me and amazing price. I would have paid double, in fact I did pay double at a place in Camarillo and they fell apart. I appreciate the service first and the price second. I was very pleased with Danielle. She was very friendly and helpful. I hope they realize how she treated me was great. Thanks again for the service and the price.

My first interaction with Advanced Optometrics was in 2008. I called to make an appointment and spoke to Karla. She was very polite, knowledgeable, and answered all of my pesky questions. My first appointment, I met Karla in person and was very impressed. She is one of the main reasons I continue to go back year after year, even though the doctors are awesome, the support team really makes the difference. I will not pick out frames unless Karla is working, she’s my fashionista and has never steered me wrong! Kudos too to Karen as she’s helped me multiple times with insurance issues and is always very helpful getting me in to see the doctor, especially with the few emergencies that I’ve had. The doctors are very progressive, the office is super clean and they have a great frame selection. I highly recommend the team at Advanced Optometrics.

Boo. Really disappointed and over $ 20. I’ll never go there again. This is one of those cases where its more about the principle than the dollar amount. The only reason they get two-​stars is because of the quality of the work, not that they do it, they have a lab which they send it out to.
The first trip in I took a pair of new old stock Cartier glasses to add sunglass lenses to. $ 270 later I got a nice pair of transformed sunglasses but they lost the OEM clear lenses which I requested back– now gone and lost, impossible to replace.
Now today the wife went in to pick up a pair of eyeglasses she had ordered and they «made a mistake» and the «switcheroo» ended up costing $ 50 more than quoted because of their f-​up. They would only split the difference with her costing her $ 20 out of pocket. Again the money wasn’t the issue its how they handled it. This prompted me to look online and the same frames (Dior 3772) she paid them $ 429 for are online for $ 262
With all the margin in their markup was the twenty bucks worth losing a couple grand a year in revenue and two customers now gone forever?

I have been a patient of Dr.‘s Lieberman and Currie for many years. I have always been very pleased with the attention and care provided by both the Drs. and the entire staff. In fact, I was just in recently for an annual eye exam and was sorry to hear that Dr. Currie had left. I had seen Dr. Currie the last few years and she was awesome! However, I saw Dr. Shao and she was perfectly friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I was also very happy to see Karen and the rest of the opticians that I have worked with for many years still there. Continuity of friendly and qualified staff is so important to the patient experience. Finally, I was certain this visit that I would not find yet another pair of glasses/​frames that I would like or that I didn’t already have after so many years of getting my eye exams and glasses from here. I said I would look for a few minutes, not expecting to find anything. As always, the optician (s) have a great eye for helping you to pick frames that work for you! The optician pulled some new frames from the back that had just come in that she thought I would like. Very quickly I found a beautiful pair of Jimmy Choo frames that I love (and are different from my others) and then decided to also get my first prescription sunglasses, from Oliver Peoples, and they are also lovely. Thank you!

Unfortunately I have decided to terminate my relationship with your practice due to the lack of customer service shown to me by your «opticians».
I don’t even know the names of these individuals as they both failed to properly introduce themselves, however the lack of interest in what I want coupled with the lack of willingness to listen has pushed me out the door.
Your practice has changed over the years and I might add not for the better. There was a day when Advanced Optometrics was the go-​to place in Westlake Village. Your frame selection at that time, personalized attention and attention to detail were second to none. I understand that things change and regrettably therefore I must find a new optometrist. .

I had a GREAT first visit with Dr. Currie and can’t say enough POSITIVE things about her and the entire staff. The team was efficient, knowledgeable, incredibly thorough, courteous, and simply made me feel like I’d known them all for years after only a one hour visit. My insurance matters were handled readily and EXACTLY as I had hoped. Every step of the process — from exam to purchase — was handled well. I honestly feel like I’ve found the people and facility I want to provide my eye care for years to come. I’m thrilled to have found Advanced Optometrics.

I have seen Dr. Currie for two years now. She is wonderful! She is very smart and really takes her time to make sure she carefully reviews everything and is always willing to answer any questions you may have. She makes you feel instantly comfortable and is honestly one of the best doctors I have seen! She recommended GREAT contacts for me and I couldn’t be happier!
