Christopher Academy offers an exceptional learning environment, tailored to the individual child for preschool children from age ²¹⁄₂ to Grade One, driven by the community. With homelike classrooms, the Montessori Method is filled with hands-​on materials, each with a lesson to learn and a problem to solve. Our students enjoy a prepared environment designed to recognize and propel each child to learn, to grow, to achieve at the most appropriate pace to the best of his or her own ability.

History

Established in 1863.

Founded in 1963 by a group of parents who wanted Montessori education for their children.

Christopher Academy is proud to be the oldest Montessori preschool school in the state of New Jersey and now has two campuses in Westfield and Scotch Plains.

The Westfield school began with eight children in two sessions. As the demand for high-​quality early childhood experiences grew, the building and program expanded, currently enrolling 105 children between its three preprimary classes and combined kindergarten/​first grade class.
