Brenda’s Cakes & Cookies

We ordered a cake for my sons 3^rd birthday. It was adorable! I could tell that so much time and effort went into the decorating. It was delicious and moist, the best I’ve had in Columbus. The cake was huge, plenty for all of our guests and leftovers for us! Worth the price. I’ve also stopped in to pick up cupcakes. They have fun/​yummy flavors always available.

This experience takes me back to childhood. I remember meeting a brand new friend, the relationship blossoming into a great friendship… Bam they end up moving!

I’m in a bind, I need a cake (not just a cake, a great cake) on a very short notice. After the usual internet and Unilocal search I discover Brenda’s. I’m skeptical, there’s only one review. I’m more desperate than skeptical, no other bakeries nearby can get me what I want on such short notice.
Although you can conveniently order off the website, I prefer to do it in person.
I’m shocked, never, ever knew this place existed! Tucked away behind a coffee house is this quaint little bakery! Unless you know this area you’d never know it’s here. There’s a small yard sign pointing you down a stone path, very easy to overlook.
I enter and am greeted by such a pleasant and warm atmosphere. There are all kinds if deliciousness — cookies, tarts, cakes. Brenda’s nice and genuinely seems to care about pleasing her customers, I like her right from the start.
Of course special events never go smoothly. Bad weather postpones the event and pretty much shuts down the city. Brenda’s still opens and allows me to leave my cake at her shop.
When I finally pick up my order, I’m totally satisfied. The cake is the right size and colors are perfect. I was also impressed that she went the extra mile and made an exact logo, she had to research this. Not only was it great looking, it was moist and very tasty.
I’m excited, I’ve found me a cake lady! I’ve decided this will be my go to spot — not. Sadly, due to health reasons she will permanently be closing her doors in mid March. She’ll be taking orders until then. I’ve got two celebrations between now and then, I’ll definitely be returning.

My wife found this bakery and ordered my son’s 6-​year-​birthday cake from here. I had the job of picking it up and paying for it.
The reason my wife ordered from Brenda’s was because they offered better cake-​decorating than its competitors. You can get a kid’s birthday cake from a grocery store, but our local Giant Eagle, Kroger or Meijer don’t do real cake decorating, mostly just printing onto rice paper and sticking to the top of the cake. Even Schneider’s bakery in Uptown Westerville (weirdly, almost directly in front of Brenda’s location) doesn’t have much to offer in this regard. We wanted an Ohio State themed cake, and Brenda’s had just what we were looking for — a «#6 Block O» on her website. The cake was chocolate, covered in fondant, and was decorated with a chocolate lollipop Brutus the Buckeye and garnished with Buckeye candy. It looked terrific.
And it tasted even better! This cake was no mere novelty, it was incredibly moist and delicious with excellent chocolate frosting.
It was ready on time, delivered as advertised (just like the picture on the website), and greatly impressed me taste-​wise. My only knock on the place is that it is a touch pricey — $ 50-​$ 60 for this cake. Still, if you’re looking for something special in the cake department, this is a great option.
