History
Established in 1980.
Spa Tech Institute was founded by Nancy Risley as a school for advanced healing work in Gloucester, MA under the name Polarity Realization Center. It has grown over the years, expanding to 4 locations, and it has expanded it’s offerings to include massage, polarity, aesthetics and cosmetology and nail tech in Maine.
The Westboro location opened in 1999 and the school became accredited in 2001 with the ability for qualified students to seek financial aid and other grants and loans.
With the mission to provide the highest quality education in the spa, salon and holistic health fields, the school has trained many of the leading therapists and stylists in the area who are now successful owners, operators or individual practitioners throughout New England.
With a constant emphasis on developing excellent technical skills along with understanding the importance of good business and communications skills, the school plays a major role in the development of the industry in the area.

Business Owner
Nancy Risley has been a leader in the industry since 1980. Coming from a family of doctors and surgeons, she placed the emphasis of her learning on the holistic and natural healing realms.
Nancy traveled to Europe to gain the knowledge she needed to start in the field and has been constantly acquiring additional training throughout the years. With and full practice that she started in 1976, Nancy found she could not attend to all the people who wanted her services. Eventually she started teaching others her unique approach to the work.
Nancy was one of the first members of the APTA Standards Committee that developed the standards for polarity therapy as well as having been the chairperson of the Certification Governing Board that developed the first certification exam for Polarity Therapy.
After developing her own body of work called RYSE she went on to oversee the writing of 26 books that covered the majority of the instruction at the institute.
