History

Established in 1925.

Raphael G. Shakour founded our parent company R.G. Shakour, Inc. in 1925 in Worcester, MA. He immigrated to the USA from Syria with his family in the late 1800’s. He was a highly skilled craftsman and he noticed an opening in the market for high quality salon furniture, so he opened R.G. Shakour, Inc. and started making salon cabinetry. With the leadership of Ralph, our business has transformed into Interiors by R.G. Shakour, Inc., the company we are today! Ralph Shakour began manufacturing salon equipment because he could not find a suitable source for the demands from his beauty supply customers within the New England salon marketplace. He gathered old world craftsmen, men like himself that immigrated from their country for a better life, and began what became the predominant and most successful salon furniture manufacturer in the New England Area, to this day. Over the years salon equipment has changed dramatically and Ralph Shakour helped to foster that change.

Meet the Business Owner

Jon S.

Business Owner

Jon has spent fifty years in the salon industry, working at R.G. Shakour, Inc. selling and designing salon equipment as well as marketing and the sale of professional salon products. As a former President of the BBSI/PBA and thirteen year member of its Board of Directors, he has helped to structure the new industry alliance to encompass all sectors of the Professional Beauty Association (e.g. salon professionals, manufacturers, and distributors). Throughout his long tenure within the beauty industry he has been one of the strongest advocates for stopping diversion at all levels due to its unfairness to salon and the professional industry as a whole.
