The Home Depot

I am a high-​schooler, and I had to complete a project for my Physics class. I have to commend this Home Depot as the staff are very friendly and amazing overall. I had to cut a metal pipe into eighths (of varying lengths) to make a scale (one octave). An older employee cut the pipe with accuracy and spent about half an hour of his time! The customer service here is beyond amazing!

Great place to buy christmas decoration supplies. Excellent service and good parking.

I bought a heater and when I took it home? It was missing a remote control! Somebody taped it up again and forgot to put the remote? The remote was missing! Besides that? The line was long at the Customer Service Line! If it was opened? Send it back to the manufacturer because it was defective! Don’t put it back on the shelf! Use common sense!

This home depot is as good as any other with one exception. The staff people actually find wandering people and help them. Other than that its the same as every other big box store. CrAmmed with stuff from celing to floor.

Yes, it is directly across the street from Ikea, so if you do not already have some adequate tools, then you should definitely pick some up here. Let’s review!
QUALITY/​SELECTION: ⁵⁄₅
It is difficult to find something that you need that HD does not stock. I have been to a few locations that do not carry certain items that they say online, but I cannot give more insight into this specific location. They had a pretty big inventory of just about everything that you would need.
AMBIANCE: ⁴⁄₅
What mans-​man doesn’t enjoy walking for hours through a hardware store? I could stay there all day. That being said, if you are not accustomed to large hardware stores then you could easily get lost and/​or frustrated that you cannot find your item. Luckily, there is always staff close by to help (see SERVICE).
PRICE: ²⁄₅
Here comes the bad. HD does not have the cheapest prices. Almost anything that they stock can be found cheaper either online or at a Walmart. Unfortunately, sometimes you just need something quick or certain items such as lumber that you do not want to drive all over to find.
SERVICE: ⁵⁄₅
Finally, a home depot where the staff is actually willing to help you out! I was asked twice in ten minutes if I needed some assistance-​you just don’t see that in other Home Depots. Found my stuff fast, got checked out fast, everyone had a smile on their faces. Good service!
OVERALL EXPERIENCE:
This is the best home depot that I have ever patronized. It is fairly easy to traverse and gets whatever your job is done. When you leave Ikea angry because they want you to pay 100 bucks for some bed slats, just come on over and grab some 2x4s for waaaaaaaay less. I do not actually shop here enough to get a rewards membership, but perhaps you end up saving more over time. Good stuff.

Cathy (an older woman), Cliff (an older man), and Mya (an younger girl) are great! They were all so nice to me. I would gladly come back anytime. Please give them a raise! :D

HORRIBLE RETURN POLICY, SECRETLY HIDDEN FROM CUSTOMERS, Purchased $ 650 worth of ceiling fans, light switches, led lights, etc. Needed to return the light switches because they were not compatible with our ceiling fans. HD refused to refund ANYTHING on this receipt because I used an $ 11 in store credit towards this purchase. Apparently anything bought with an Instore credit is NON-​REFUNDABLE. Meaning, anything on the receipt is non-​refundable, regardless of what it is. If anything was wrong with these ceiling fans, I would be stuck with them because of this $ 11 in store credit. I went to return the light switches an to get my $ 130 back and they REFUSED a return. Two were unopened and one was, which is how we found out then we’re not compatible. I had the packaging and the receipt to prove I purchased this, also using my credit card, but they said its store policy not to refund anything on the receipt used with an instore credit. WTF??? I am so pissed. Not only did I buy the damn thing, since I have the receipt to prove it, but at no point, from the cashier, was I told if I used this I store credit, everything purchased on this receipt is null and void for a return.
I also see that they will not refund ANYTHING on a recipe that had a military discount given. They state you must return everything on the receipt in order to get a refund for one item you are just trying to return. What… So if I bought five items but just one doesn’t fit right, then I have to return all of them?
WHO DOES THIS? Never heard of this or experienced this in my entire life. What a freaking ripoff.
Became full what you buy and how to buy it or they’ll keep your money.

I had a great experience at Home Depot while purchasing a special Sawzall for my husbands birthday. Home Depot employee Jeff who was at the Pro desk assisted me by looking up several models giving me information and comparisons of each. I wanted the one with a case and extra battery and they did not have it in stock so Jeff contacted other stores, contacting them so it could be put on hold and I could pick it up on my way home by just running in.
His excellent service, knowledge of tools and willingness to go the extra mile have really impressed me.

Long story short, we knew exactly what we wanted and this store was the only one with my item in stock. There was only one left so we quickly headed over, but arrived just two minutes after closing! Usually when it’s near closing time, I wait until the next day, but I there was only one in stock, so we quickly headed over. After knocking desperately on the door, the employees learned we traveled from Woodland and allowed us to go inside.
We were in and out within 3 minutes. The staff even brought out a push cart and assisted us in packing our very heavy purchase in the back of my car.
Awesome customer service, hands down. Thank you, West Sac Home Depot!

Lowes versus Home Depot: My story
Recently, I went in to Lowes to get a replacement smoke detector. After looking around awhile for someone to help me — a gentleman stopped. I explained what I was looking for. He had no clue. I wanted to match my current detector — so he looked at the boxes (just like I already had) and said he wasn’t sure. I asked if there was someone who knew. Again, no idea. As I walked out, I saw a man that I believe is the manager. After explaining it to him — he pointed me in the direction I came from. I said I needed someone who knew — so he offered to have someone open all of the boxes until they found what I needed. I said no thanks and left.
I drove to Home Depot. Once I walked in and explained my needs — they pointed me to a man who explained everything to me. He knew that they no longer make that style detector and that I’d need to replace the wiring. He explained how easy it was and why the smoke detectors changed in the first place.
From clueless at Lowes to an expert at Home Depot — it said volumes about where I should shop next time. Maybe I just got luckly — but on this visit, I got exactly what I needed.

Worst experience ever! Rented a tool from their tool rental facility. Took an hour to check out (there was no line to wait, this was just the extent of the representatives lack of knowledge and efficiency). We got all the way home with the tool we rented and realized that they had forgotten to give us a critical part needed to operate the tool. So we had to drive all the way back to get it. Luckily, they restarted our rental time so we didn’t lose out. We got back home, started using the tool and it only worked for 2 – 3 hours (it was in poor condition, duct tape holding up some of the tool). We spent 30 minutes on hold waiting for a representative to confirm that we would get our money back if we brought it back within an hour of it not working (because that’s their rule). We get there to return it and two young kids attempted to fix it but didn’t know what they were doing. They were unscrewing things that couldn’t be unscrewed, spraying grease on it to «loosen it up», etc. They were very unprofessional, cursing and fooling around. Never once did they express apologies. At one point, one of the young men said «well, I am off» and left the other young gentleman to deal with our situation. This gentleman claimed that he didn’t even work at Home Depot (which I almost believed, because he was wearing a car wash shirt and not a Home Depot vest). He continued to use the computer to check us out. After complaining they compensated our rental (which is the only reason I gave 2 stars because I found that to be the only good thing about this experience). We still needed to rent that tool, so they referred us to a Home Depot 15 minutes away on Folsom and power inn. We get there and it only took us 5 minutes to get the rental we needed and to check out. Obviously there is an issue with the staffing in the tool rental department in the West Sac location. The Folsom and power inn location made it extremely less of a hassle to rent tools.
We will NEVER rent or purchase anything from this West Sac Home Depot ever again.

I’ve come to learn that not all Home Depots are the same. Some places have what you are looking for and other’s are either out of stock or just don’t carry it at all. That’s why I usually end up shopping from one store to the other to get all the supplies I need. Either I am getting things done around my house or I’m helping out my parent’s place. So needless to say, I have been to multiple stores all over the Sacramento area.
While this Home Depot is located out of my normal driving distance, Joe K. and I happened to be in the area where IKEA is located. We decided to check them out to see if they had any bathroom fans with built in heater. The fan I had at home decided to stop blowing heat after just a few years of use. I bought the fan from another Home Depot, so I wanted to either find out if there were replacement parts or to buy a whole new system. The employee showed us their display of bathroom fans, but none of them had the heating feature. He gave us the impression that they were no longer being manufactured since this was all they had. I was very disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to shower in a nice warm bathroom again. Guess I spoiled myself with this little luxury that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy anymore…
We wandered throughout the store to see what other items were available for future reference, and I found the building as a whole to be well maintained, neat and nicely stocked with just about everything one would desire for home and landscaping improvements. Even though I probably wouldn’t drive out of my way to shop here routinely, the building is huge with a vast supply of merchandise; it has a convenient location for West Sacramento and would satisfy any locals to fulfill their home improvement shopping adventures!
FYI: I was able to find the bathroom fan/​heater at another Home Depot. Should have known!!!

This home depot is vary well maintain as are all of them. It is down the street from were i live so that makes it convenient for me. The people who work there are well mannered, and will help you with anything you need. I come here alot i even buy home supplies when i dont feel like dealing with other walmart customer’s.

I went to this Home Depot in West Sacramento for a shower curtain rod on ⁰²⁄₁₂₁₅ around 1:45pm.
First time in a long time, while visiting a Home Depot, I had such a great customer service.
The customer service guy named Chris. He was very helpful, great attitude and good sense of humor.
He guided me to the right place and even checked the computer for the right item and parts I was interested to purchase. — I just came from Wal Mart from returning a shower curtain rod that didn’t work.
Chris even took the time to staple my receipt to my item, to make sure I would not lose the receipt in case I needed to return some parts.
That is what I call a hella customer service!
Deftly a Home Depot that knows how to hire the best and right person.

My husband and I visited this Home Depot to get ideas for flooring for our new home. We then strolled the store looking at nothing in particular. What I noticed was great customer service. Everywhere we went, the associates asked if we needed help (unlike Lowe’s in West Sac). I took off a star for the one associate that asked me if I needed help with flooring, and after I said yes, disappeared.

Customer service is great. Typical Home Depot and has the creature comforts of a HD store.

I mean it is a Home Depot so if you have been to one you have been to them all. There is nothing that really makes this one stand out in a good way or a bad. They will have just about anything you need for fixing your place up or perhaps packing and moving (which happens to be my reason for stopping in.) I will say of all my trips to this particular location I hate how slow the staff is to respond to your need to get propane out of the cages in front. On my last visit I actually had to go back in and check 2 times that they had radio’d for someone to come out after waiting about 15 minutes.

Simple… they have what you need.
Nothing bad to say about this place. Conveniently located to other types of shops, so you can tackle a whole list of errands within ½ mile.

Some of the staff here have a major attitude problem.
I went in to pick up a hose for my dryer and saw that they have several sizes, so I went to the attendant in the design your kitchen section to ask for her advise. I pointed out which dryer I have (they carry it in store) and asked what size of hose I would need.
Me: I have this dryer, but not the hose. Which one would I need.
Her: Uh, standard.
Me: You carry 3″, 4″, 5″, and 6″. Which one should I get?
Her: I said «standard».
Me: Okay, but which size is standard?
Her: *scoff* Uh, four inches. Hellooooo.
I then went to look for paint. I was wandering up and down the aisles looking for one in particular and walked by 4 employees who were standing in a group chatting. Not a single one would acknowledge me and they did their best to keep their backs to me every time I got near them.
Terrible customer service.

This review is specifically for Chris in the tile department. Dude knows his stuff. We are installing our own backsplash and he helped us with our bazillion questions. He spent over an hour with us. I had questions about tile and granite we had in the house we just bought and he diligently answered every one of them. He’s well versed in all his stone and he is a wealth of info. Don’t ask him about design, because he doesn’t know too much about it, but there are plenty of other people he can point you towards.
Also, every single employee stopped to ask us if we needed help. I even asked where they kept the dish soap, and they took me there. Little known fact, you can get things like soap and laundry detergent and cleaners here for way less then you would pay at a bigger store.
