J & M Recycling

These guys always get you in and out as quick as possible. It’s a convenient 5 minute drive from my home so I choose to come here instead of looking for a place that will pay more. Not sure how this pays compared to others in the area since I’ve been coming here forever. The guys always help out sorting the aluminum from glass and plastic and that is a big help!
ID required. They have sinks and soap to wash your hands after sorting through the dirty recycles.

I have been going here several times a year for several years as I like the drive through aspect and the help unloading and moving of the barrels by the employees. Today when I was there, I was informed they didn’t have any cash, but would give me a receipt. They said they would have cash in a couple hours. Since I had my vehicle loaded, I decided to get the receipt and come back later. I called about 90 minutes later and they said yes they now had cash. I did go back and collect my money. I also asked what the hours were. I was told they are now Monday — Friday 9am — 3:30pm. They are no longer weekends. I suggest calling before driving there now and see if they are open and if they have cash.

Don’t go there right now. They are doing road construction and no where to park. Everything is roped off! Good luck finding a parking? Park somewhere and drag your cans all the way over there! What a hassle!

West Sacramento recycling warehouse in a discreet location. Still good for business and I recommend it. Came here with a friend and will come again!

Literally best place I have ever recycled at EVER. I have always recycled and I have lived in a lot of different neighborhoods around the Sacramento area.
You drive through the gate and make a left straight through the building, it seems unorthodox at first but once you drive in the building it makes sense and you think «why the hell doesn’t every recycling center do this?»
Someone has always been there to greet me. Usually in Spanish but I’m fine with that and can keep a minimal conversation in Spanish. but even if I couldn’t there are people who speak English and the Spanish speaker can understand MOST English.
DONT go to a recycling center thinking its going to be clean. ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. However, this is by far the cleanest center I have ever seen. Yes the floor is dirty and the trash cans are dirty, get over it, it’s a part of recycling.
It’s pretty quiet inside considering they smash cans, glass and plastic bottles into the smallest size possible. and they get you in and out in a very short time.

Dirty, yes.
Smelly, yes.
If you’re looking for Mr Clean Recycling-​good luck finding one.
But, they help you unload and sort your recycle items. It’s covered indoor parking to unload.
Open weekends.
Pays more than the sites you see established at shopping centers and grocery stores in box trailers.

Sign language-​yes-​As in pointing with a finger meaning go over there and if you don’t understand the universal finger point then I hope you didn’t risk others lives by driving to J&M and for those that do not understand-​you go the direction the finger is pointing…
I’d give 5 Stars but they don’t update their website with info like Holiday schedule and the fact they are open SUNDAY.

Drive thru recycling doesn’t get any easier. They take all metal glass plastic. Sure the place is stinky grungy and the d service people aren’t going to win the James beard award. but it’s a decent honest place

I’ve never had a bad experience here, been going for years. Sometimes on the weekend they get really crowded. BUT even when they are busy the staff keeps their calm and gets everyone moved through. Drive your car in, the assistants help you empty your car/​truck and get everything separated into their buckets. Yeah the place is grimy but it’s a recycling/​garbage dump what do you expect?
Anyway, they accept almost anything. I usually get between $ 28-​$ 40 for a few months worth of my own family + my mom’s 5 person household recycling. Friendly staff, and in my experience most speak english or at least enough to chat with them while I help empty my bags. Personal pet peeve: when people watch the workers separate their cans. You’re too good to help?

I must have shown up on an odd day or something.
When I drove in to drop off my bottles, it seemed completely deserted. Not a single worker anywhere to be found. I didn’t see any signs to tell you where to pull your car in or where to drop your stuff off. But luckily a Mexican gentleman saw me in distress and tried to help me out. Unfortunately he could only point and grunt since he couldn’t speak English. Now, when I took foreign language in High School they didn’t offer «point» language so it was hard for me to understand what the hell he was trying to tell me. I did however find the manager (who did speak English) and he told me what needed to be done. Kind of frustrating… but whatever.
The real kick in the groin was when they measured the weight of my recyclables and gave me a whopping 3 dollars in redemption value. Maybe I’ve been out of the loop in the recycling gig for a while. But with 4 large bags of glass bottles…3 dollars? Ouch… I needed a beer after that scenario, but look at the bright side, at least I have… what… 22 cents in redemption value right now?

Went there on West Sacramento clean up day, dropped off two old fridges. The guy who helped me was very friendly, said they take them year round.
Not the nicest place to look at, the staff wont win and beauty awards, but it has a drive thru recycling thing and it gets the job done.
