H & R Towing

I called this morning after a stressful weekend dealing with a tenant that wants to be verbally abusive to the rest of the people in the house. I’m new to owning a home and having tenants. Only wanted to ask questions because of a referral so I could try and set up something on a permeant basis if someone abandons another car on my property it can be dealt with. I’m Army and I live over 5 hours away, one of the rooms is rented for cheap to my best friend and house manager. I was trying to ask questions and got hung up on. How rude. Where is the customer service? Are people not allowed to ask questions when they don’t know something? Never will I call them again, nor will have my insurance go threw them.

I was in an accident on a Saturday and was on the phone with the insurance company to determine where my car should be towed and by what company. After 40 minutes and no further than when I dialed their number (I’ll be discussing this with the insurance company), the PD said they would call a tow service for me. Jimmy was there within 10 minutes and stated since they work with my insurance they can store my car until they come pick it up. We realized on Sunday that we had left something in the car and weren’t sure we could get there before the insurance company took the car. Jimmy met us on Easter Sunday to get our items. The battery on my car was dead and he even jumped it so we could get the items. After the stress of an accident, insurance, and knowing your car is totaled, this was a bright spot. I would highly recommend and will use again when needed. Above and beyond customer service!

I made the mistake of not seeing an «unauthorized vehicles will be towed…» sign and Jimmy from H&R Towing towed my vehicle after about 30 minutes of being parked there. If my estimations are correct, the property owner called for my vehicle to be towed after about 10 minutes of it being parked. I claimed my vehicle after about an hour or so and Jimmy «cut me a break» by waiving the $ 50 storage me. I thought to myself «what a nice guy!» After I got home, I decided to look up the California Vehicle Codes (CVC) and low and behold, my vehicle was illegally towed! CVC 22 658 and 22 953 states that the property owner must wait an hour before having the vehicle towed, the tow driver must make a good-​faith attempt to verify that my vehicle is allowed to be towed, the tow authorization form should state the time that my vehicle was first spotted, and that they must accept cash.
$ 180 later on my credit card (he said they don’t take cash), I finally got home and I called Jimmy that evening. He gave me the runaround about how my vehicle could be towed immediately and that I should not even be asking for my money back because he «cut me a break». He also stated that it would be a waste of my time to even pursue getting my money back. A couple days later, I sent H&R Towing an e-​mail via their website asking for their money back. A few hours later I received a call from Jimmy and he told me that I do not know what I am talking about and that the CVC’s do not apply to private properties. I have a feeling he may not have read the CVC’s before calling me because they actually state «towing from private property». After a few phone calls back and forth and hearing him accuse me of being wrong about the vehicle codes, he went as far as to call my father (registered vehicle owner) to ask him why I want my money back and to tell him that I’m wrong. He even called my workplace, maybe to try to get me in trouble? I unfortunately made the mistake of telling him where I worked when I was picking up my illegally towed vehicle.
Fast-​forward to today, I still have not seen video proof, H&R Towing processed my refund (still haven’t seen it back in my bank account), and they are still claiming that I was there for an hour, but decided to refund me because of their erroneous tow authorization form that does not state the time my that my vehicle was first spotted.
TL;DR H&R Towing illegally towed me according to CVC 22 658 and 22 953. If you have been towed by them, I suggest you look at your authorization form to see if they listed the time that your vehicle was first spotted. If not, then they illegally towed you. According to a scanned receipt, they processed my refund, but I have still not seen it in my account nor is it even pending.

I had a pleasant experience with it being my first time getting a tow truck. I had a flat tire in my apartment complex and changed it to my spare, which later the day also had a flat after I drove back home. I called Jimmy the night before needing a tow, and in the morning at 7am, he came within 15 minutes, got my car from my apartment and off to American Tires. He was nice about it and charged me 85 when usually they charge 120 during the day. Not too bad for a first time.

I needed my car towed and after looking up different tow companies I thought I would try them out. Unfortunately when I called, the guy clearly didn’t want to come out on a Sunday. After telling him I needed my car towed he tried to find out what was wrong with my car. Sounds great right? He then told me I should just go buy a new battery instead of him coming out to tow my car. This is the worse service I have ever received. If you did not want to come out and do your job you shouldn’t have answered your phone. Instead I am giving someone else business because this company clearly doesn’t know how to provide their customers with service.

They arrived quickly and were friendly, I was in shock that it cost $ 90 to take my car 5 blocks however.

I needed my car towed from my driveway to my garage. Sounds simple right? After calling literally 20 different tow places who all said they weren’t able to i called Jimmie. He was not only able to do it for a reasonable price but he came out within 30 minutes to move it. Would definitely recommend this tow company. Very professional and reliable.

Jimmy was fantastic! We blew a tire on the freeway and the freeway patrol towed us to an empty lot. We had no spare and very little money. We called H&R to tow us to a tire shop. When he arrived he recommended a shop closer to save us money on the Tow. He told us he thought the tire place he recommended would be cheaper and he kept our car on the truck until we found out for sure. He was right! Thank you for the excellent service!

Jimmy is about as good as it gets for a tow company operator. He couldn’t come right away because he was in the middle of another tow, but he called regularly to let me know what was happening and when he would arrive.
When he arrived he was courteous and professional. There’s nothing bad to say about this company. It’s the best.

This is hands down the best tow service I’ve ever used. They show up exaclty when they say they will rather than leaving you waiting forever like most tow services. Polite, efficient, and knowledgeable, great overall experience.

Great service. Came quickly and tried to jump the car battery to save me money. Didn’t work so had to tow it anyway but was awesome that he tried. Much appreciated.

H&R were the only ones who weren’t on answering machine. They arrived in minutes to our delighted surprise. Fast, polite, and great to find during our awkward emergency. Very happy their business is rolling on the road. Best bet around.

This is by far the best service from
a towing company I have ever had. I needed someone to tow my truck fast
and they were here to help. I called a couple wrecker services and all
of them were way over priced compared to H&R Towing

are doing something wrong.
