Valvoline Instant Oil Change

15 minute oil change? Nah, I showed up at 10:18 and I’m still sitting here at 11:06. This is ridiculous. Is there any supervision here that keeps these guys working quickly? One guy has been aimlessly wandering around, occasionally typing something in the computer. If you think you can get a quick change and head back to work DO NOT COME HERE.

$ 5-​$ 10 more than other places but there’s never a wait! Last time I got my oil changed, I wanted for 2.5 hours at pepboys! today? 10 minutes in and out at valvoline! the staff isn’t overly friendly, but they do their job well and are always willing to answer any questions you have. I’ll be back!

Great guys and gal! Very quick, very informative, very clear. I had my tires rotated along with the oil change and all of it took about 20 mins. I’ll be coming back for sure.

Recently purchased a used car & brought here for oil change & for 2 new windshield wipers. They suggested changing the oil every 3000 miles. The Synthetic oil cost $ 79.99 not including parts & labor. Total cost including wipers was $ 132.16. Brought it to dealer for 2^nd oil change & the dealer recommends changing it every 7500 miles not 3000. Synthetic oil total cost at dealer was cheaper than Valvoline at $ 68.28 including parts & labor. Valvoline is a rip-​off. Will never get oil changed by this company again. Glad I realized now than later. Check your vehicle maintenance manual for the manufacturers recommended oil change interval before listening to Valvoline wasting your money & wasting oil.

What can be said about Valvoline as a whole?
This has to be one of the worst locations in the entire company. Where do I start? They tell you over the phone oil changes start at $ 39.99, but fail to mention when you take your car there, that your car takes a certain kind of oil and the price suddenly changes as high as $ 70 dollars. They try and sell you everything they can from wipers to license plate lights. All things you can go to the local pepboys and buy for half the price, and with a brain, can easily install yourself. Even if you are not mechanically inclined, that is what youtube and google is for. The staff are rather obnoxious. I’ve seen employees arguing, and even smelled marijuana coming from one of the techs as he entered my car to check my cabin air filter. Are there any rules governing their employees smoking pot during their work hours? I’ve had friends tell me the samething, after bringing their car to this location, that they smelled a strong odor of weed from the techs that entered their car. Instant oil change to me is 15 minutes or less. There has been times that you are either waiting over 30 minutes in their parking lot, just to enter their garage, upto taking more than 25 minutes just to drain and add new oil to your car. Places like these rely solely on quotas and how much they can sell you. Without purchasing their products which again, you can buy at cheaper prices elsewhere, they can’t survive.
I’ve brought my car in, only to get home and find oil spots on my car from their clothes and gloves. Do they not wipe these marks off? I would not recommend this location or any Valvoline location for that matter. You are not allowed out of your car, and they make you take your keys out and place them on the dash for protection. I have young kids who were watching a movie in the backseat, and then started to scream because the power was shut off. Any parent knows the loud screech of a screaming kid, in a place that echoes. My advice is to drug test your employees, and set new standards for time. It is highly unacceptable to bring a car in and have it worked on by high employees and sold everything your shop has.
A friend brought his car to this location, only to get home and find a screw driver under his hood. Losing tools in a clients car, not acceptable. Would you pay to have damage done by a rogue tool getting lodged into the fan? I think not. Truly the standards of this place should be taken seriously. Just my two cents. Avoid this location like the plague. There are plenty of shops out there, who will perform the proper duties on your vehicle.

It’s all about the oil…
My VW Jetta has a modern FSi turbo engine which requires a special synthetic oil to run well. Never happy with the Castrol oil from the dealer – not great mpg, hard winter starts, herky-​jerky hot weather traffic driving – I did a ton of research and decided to try other types of oil. Since Valvoline makes vw approved oil, I thought I would give them a try, now the Jetta has been reborn! They filled her up with a special low-​ash European formula and she is running smooth, fast and efficient. Car is a joy to drive again.
They’re not cheap, but I’ll make it back in gas savings. The service guys were nice and took me right away. Literally took a few minutes.
One star off for not informing me before they started that they would be charging me an EXTRA $ 10 for my oil filter – I can buy one online for $ 6. Good thing I had a coupon.
They also recharged my a/​c, which was at 10%(!). probably saved my compressor from burning out…

This was easy, fast, and painless. I’m totally going back. I got to hang out in my car and read while the techs changed my synthetic oil and air filter. It was cheaper than the last local garage oil change I got, even before the Unilocal coupon, and only took about 20 minutes. I just wish they had an Enter sign for the 2^nd driveway so I didn’t turn into the first one and have to reverse on Spring St.
I hate the 1 – 2 hour appts. getting an oil change with a local garage, so this is my go-​to oil change spot now.

Despite the low rating, I chanced it and took my car in for an oil change this afternoon and boy am I glad I did! Generally I go to other places where the norm is to wait for at least 45 minutes before they even take your car (sometimes even with an appointment). Much to my surprise, this was not at all the case at Valvoline in West Roxbury!
I pulled right in where I was immediately greeted by 2 gentlemen who explained everything they were doing, gave me multiple options for oil (without being pushy), and informed me of my manufacturer recommendations, but again not in an overbearing manner.
I even ended up having them change my air filter– something I don’t usually do– because it was only $ 25 and filthy, I had a great Unilocal coupon to use, and they were so darn fast I knew I wouldn’t have to wait any extra time.
I was in and out, without an appointment, in about 15 minutes as promised.
I also really liked that you were right there with the techs step by step. There was none of that waiting room talk that begins with «Miss, there are some things we need to talk about today» where they implore you to purchase every service under the sun. Like I said, they professionally presented the options and left it up to my discretion. I appreciated that (and it even made me buy an overpriced filter from an oil change place!!)
It was a little pricier than the $ 19.99 places, but as they say, «Quality, price, or speed– pick 2.»
The quality and speed were definitely there, so if you’re the type of person like me to whom time is money, I highly recommend going here.

I have come here a few times in the past and went in today for an oil change and tire rotation since they had sent me a coupon in the mail. I have never had a bad experience here, the staff are always friendly and efficient (and cute!) and the prices are reasonable.

I received an apology from corporate, unfortunately that will not help at all. This business cannot survive without our business, and you have lost mine. It will be my recommendation to my friends not to do business with your establishment.

Avoid like the plague, while the staff is friendly, and the prices are competitive they move slower than molasses in January. Instant is anything but true with a basic oil change taking 45+ minutes!!!
