Gentle Dental

The front desk staff here are wonderful. I went here for 3 years for regular cleanings which were fine. They kept telling me that i needed a crown and i just kept putting it off. I finally decided to do it. The first crown appt was ok, I was actually surprised it wasn’t more uncomfortable. The 2^nd appt was the complete opposite. It was terribly painful, I couldn’t stop jumping in the chair. the hygienist ignored it for awhile then when I asked how much longer she replied with an annoyed tone. She finally went to get the dentist who expressed his annoyance but finally gave me some novocaine which helped somewhat. it was still painful, but everything was made so much worse by the way they treated me. I am in the health care field and in my almost 20 years of practice i have inflicted pain on others, but I have always tried my best to be compassionate and kind and always let the patient know what is going to happen and what they are going to feel. These people need some more training on how to deal with people. Also, I’m not confident that they even did good work. The crown has caused pain since the beginning, I won’t be going back to Gentle Dental.

I’m very pleased to give this location 5 stars. Dr. Madani was incredibly nice to me, answered all my questions, spent time with me and was just all around courteous and friendly! My second visit was my cleaning and Robyn was fantastic! She was patient, did not rush, and made me feel very comfortable. She offered me brochures, answered my questions in a friendly and informative way. I certainly look forward to my next visit and do recommend this location to anyone!

The front desk is amazing. Especially the short haired female that is a little older. She has been with them for quite some time.
I have been going to this group of folks since they were near the YMCA.
I have a ton of dental anxiety for various reasons and have had a lot of work done. Robin is a wonderful hygienist and perfect for someone who is crawling out of their skin. She makes you feel at easy and talks to you during your cleaning. She is so patient and kind.
Dr Reza is also a delight. He scares me a little. Is firm with his dental advice. He’s done all my filings. He doesn’t give into my anxiety necessarily as much as Robin does. Maybe with fillings thats a good thing.
Everyone here is very friendly and nice and manages the crazy folks like me. I am biased obviously. I need a little more tenderness then most people, but I own it.
I have had a bad experience with a hygienist there and would not recommend her to my enemy. I am unsure of her name but she did have an accent. Short brown hair. She loves her water pick to clean plaque instead of scraping. A long story made quite shorter, she ignored my requests d/​t how painful the water pick was for me, and continued to use it. When i cried, she got upset and suggested I make another appointment. She was about 25% done and tried to charge my a full cleaning. I paid out of pocket. Lastly, I had a tongue piercing and she made a comment about me being from the streets. After explaining to her it was painful that way she questioned my nursing job. That people get things that hurt all the time, and that I do it anyway. I said not when i know there is a less painful method that has worked just fine. She is not patient, nor understanding, and doesn’t care what the patient wants. Avoid her like the plague if you fear the dentist. Or want someone nice.

I went to this location one time, and one time only. The front desk staff was pleasant, as well as the dentist that I saw. Then it came time for the cleaning. It was a woman who said her name was Julia Z. She had an accent. She began by asking me how long it had been since my last cleaning. It had been about 3 years. I had been a student at the time and had not had dental insurance since getting laid off from my job, hence why the $ 57 new client special was so appealing. She stearnly let me know that now I was making her job more difficult because I had not gone to the dentist regularly. Somehow I managed to choke back the tears throughout most of the cleaning, until she said to me «What? Are you going to cry?» Then, yes, I did cry. With tears running down my eyes, I let her finish her mediocre cleaning. When she finished, I asked her what her name was. She replied, «Why? Are you going to tell on me?» Seriously? Needless to say, I would NEVER return here. What a disappointment. But, I guess you get what you pay for…

I was a patient here for three years, and saw the service deteriorate steadily. The hygienists have been sloppy and disorganized, the doctor tardy and brusk, and the work anything but gentle. The periodontal cleaning I had was the very worst experience I have ever had in a dentist’s chair.
I will say that the people at the front desk are very friendly and on the ball. If only they could teach the dental staff how to behave in a professional environment, it might be worth going back.

I too was lured in with the $ 57 special. I was told I had 2 cavities and needed a crown. I held off on the crown but had the 2 cavities taken care of. After several weeks of discomfort (I was told it may take a week or so once the cavities were filled), I decided to go back to my previous dentist. She told me that the dentist left a huge gap in between the teeth he worked on and the cavities were not filled correctly and I did not need a crownI. I had to have my teeth drilled again to fix the voids that were supposedly filled by the dentist at Gentle Dental. I was not surprised that no one at Gentle Dental asked why I wanted a copy of my x-​rays ($ 25 fee). Don’t let the name or the $ 57 special fool you. There are hidden extra charges/​fees that you are told about on your second visit. Shame on me and shame on you if you go after you’ve read this.

Absolute nightmare.
I was lured in by the $ 57 new patient offer of cleaning, x-​rays, PLUS consultation. Well, the woman who did my cleaning didn’t even introduce herself or explain what she was doing to me. I had to ask hesitantly, «umm…so what is that you’re doing now???» I thought this place was supposed to be gentle? I expressed concern about a toothache and she brushed it away as mere sensitivity without taking a look. The cleaning process was silent and awkward, and she made me feel like an inconvenience to her day, merely a patient to get through so she’ll get her paycheck at the end of the week.
With x-​rays, she did such a sloppy job that none of the slides came out correctly but blurry and completely useless. She had to do them over, after the panorama x-​rays in which she complained about the x-​ray-​protector-​pad being too heavy while placing it on me– grimacing the whole time. I found out later that I was supposed to take my earrings off, but she told me no such thing! Also, my head was too high up so the roots of the teeth came out blurry and was once again, a sloppy job.
What’s the use of this $ 57 deal, when the x-​rays are useless?
As for parking, I just parked in the bank parking lot next door. I don’t care.
***Update: After going to Tufts Dental School and getting actual useful x-​rays taken, I’m told that my 4 cavities was in fact just 1 cavity. Gentle Dental was about to drill into 3 perfectly healthy teeth based on some dodgy, blurry x-​rays, with no second opinion.

avoid this place if you can. I cannt believe I am going to have to live with this dental work in my mouth for a long time. It is a nightmare

There is no parking so plan to drive around for 20 minutes prior to your appointment trying to find a place to park. Once you get in, plan to sit there for at least ½ an hour after your scheduled appointment time. While you are sitting around, don’t look too closely at the machinery because that alone should clue you in. It looks like it came from a 2^nd hand dental equipment shop. Also, it isn’t as clean as a dental office should be. As someone else said, don’t expect too many of the what seems like 100 «assistants» to be speaking English. Clearly they are staffed by those who didn’t pass the Faulkner Hospital orderly test. Oh and lastly DON’T have an emergency after hours! I had to call the «emergency pager number» twice to get a call back. Even then the idiot doctor who called me back didn’t listen to a word I had to say and just kept telling me to come back to the office tomorrow morning. I had to call my primary care doctor’s office to help me.
Once I am done with this dental problem I am definitely going to look for a single dentist practice. I am done this fast food type service… As they say… you get what you pay for.

They should’ve called it Endless Dental. I didn’t see a doctor for an hour and a half. And they weren’t even able to help fix up my chipped tooth, for reasons too long to go into here.
No parking.
Some of the dental assistants barely spoke English. This is a frightening thing when you already get panic attacks just walking into a dentist’s office.
Wish I could’ve given them no stars.
