After years of reliable honest and trustworthy repairs I will never again frequent Clay Auto. Not sure what has changed but my last 2 experiences here were much less than great.
I brought my son’s car in for service in January. We asked for oil change, Wiper blades and to check out the brakes. I received a call that to fix the car right the brakes and other work would be over $ 1500. For an old unreliable car we decided to not do the work and buy a new car. They did however already complete the oil change and wiper blades. Along with the charge to look at the brakes the cost was $ 118.26. Seems like a lot and that they should not have done this work before looking at the brakes but given my history with them I paid and went on my way.
Last week I brought my car in for an oil change and balance, rotate and alignment as I was having some noise when turning. They called to inform me that it was in fact my brakes and that I need (2) new front tires. I told them to do the brakes and oil change and that there was no need for alignment or balance & rotate because I would be getting new tires shortly.
After getting the bill they charged me $ 69.95 for balance & rotating the tires. I called to inquire and Mark (the service rep.) said that I told him to do the work. I disagreed and said that I did not want the balance, rotate and alignment and he tells me that the work was already done before I told him. in an aggravated manner he did offer me a «free» oil change but I don’t see myself going back.

I’ve had a few problems with my thirteen year old car over the years, which has resulted me bringing it into Clay’s four times this year. Unfortunately the fourth was the last since the repairs would cost more than the value of the car at this point. Every time the guys at Clay’s have been great. Especially as a girl with limited knowledge about cars, I was never charged more than I should have been or told I needed unnecessary service. I mainly spoke with Don, and he was always great, remembered me when I called, and would even ask about my dad who he spoke to once on the phone. Great customer service. If you have to deal with car problems, this is the place to do it.

We have been going to Clay for years. Don and Mark in the service dept are great and accommodating. They explain everything to us and we never feel taken advantage of. Trustworthy place! Highly recommend them!

The service department is great and reliable. The staff is friendly and the work is good quality!
With that being said, do not purchase a vehicle here. My wife bought a car from Neal, and it was wayyyy overpriced and it needed a lot of work. This place is only in the business of taking your money and does not care about the best interest of its buyers. One of the tie rods broke within a week of driving the car, and the breaks needed a lot of work. Thank goodness for the Lemon Law.

I’ve driven by this place for 3 years and hadn’t realized it was a full scale shop until some idiot hit my G-​ride in Medford a couple of weeks ago. After talking to Lenny in the body shop I dropped off said G-​ride with my insurance paperwork and they took care of the rest. They did excellent quality work on time, and were pleasant to deal with. Plus, the commuter rail is right behind the shop, so you can catch a ride to work (helpful when you’re without your car). I can’t rate the price/​value since I didn’t have to pay for this one, so I’ll have to go back for something more minor and follow up.

These guys are the best in the business around. They have customer service down to the last ounce. Brought in my truck after it was hit and they took care of everything. They not only treated me but also my girlfriend with dignity. The crew at Clay’s never once made us feel uneasy or as if we were being swindled.
If you are looking for a one stop shop for your automotive service needs, this is the first place you should look into. It will be your only after the first interview.

These guys were great! Don in the front office is so wonderfully kind and personable, he immediately put me at ease – and I’m a very skeptical, independent woman who usually has to worry about getting taken advantage of in places like car repair centers. Everyone was so nice; there is an employee who likes to sing along with the classic radio tunes as he walks through the building where the waiting chairs are, and he was chatting with me for a bit. Then Don came out, smile on his face as usual, and informed me that they had completed the standard inspection and there was nothing wrong with my car. (I had purchased a Buy With Me voucher and paid $ 35 or so for an oil change and 10-​point inspection, since my car was due for one anyway.) The truth! How great is that in this day and age, especially from an auto-​mechanic!!!

Had a great experience here. Needed my exhaust, O2 sensors, and catalytic converter all replaced, as well as a bunch of other small items taken care of. Job cost exactly as estimated, and was ready on time. Everyone was extremely friendly, and went over the work in detail with me. I needed a new inspection sticker due to a failed inspection, and would have had to drive a hundred miles and come back to clear the recorder in order to get a good sticker, but they offered to have an employee take the car home overnight to put the miles on during his commute and save me the trouble (I don’t drive much at all so it would have been a real pain). They even put the gas back in that they used putting on the miles! Car has run great since the work. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that the work was on the pricy side (but not unreasonable), but it was disclosed accurately up front, so it’s not a complaint, just an observation. I will use them again.

I had my car hit twice in one day well parked outside my house one icy morning. This place sits right down the street and they were understanding, helpful and worked with my insurance company to fix my car as quick as possible to get me back on the road. After getting it back, it was washed, clean and in great condition. I discovered a few days later my windshield washer wasnt working and brought it right back in and they fixed it free of charge. I would highly recommend this place for body work and even service! Lenny was very nice and he runs the entire shop.
