«You’re a guy. Why are you shopping at Hello Bluebird?» Because I’m open-minded and a hell of a husband. Hello Bluebird is a very quaint shop located on Penn Avenue. They offer a plethora of hand-made trinkets, quirky children toys, and the kind of far-out jewelry that my wife adores. Also on occasion, they play host to smaller pop-up shops on the second-floor that offer even more hand-made goods(and sometimes clothing!). While I don’t personally share the same tastes that the shop owner does, people I know(women and children) do and they go nuts for thoughtful and unique gifts. This place is a natural go-to for birthdays, holidays, or just times where I want to look epic in the eyes of a loved one and show up with something unique and thoughtful. Go ahead and plan a trip to Penn Avenue one Sunday. Sometimes there are block long festivals! There are plenty of places to shop, and Hello Bluebird is across the street from some great eateries like Say Cheese! and Chatty Monks Brewery. Be a hero to someone you love today and pick them up a special trinket from Hello Bluebird. *edit* After some unprovoked thought, I’m bumping this from 4 to 5 stars. Why? Because I realized I’ve always had a pleasant exchange with whoever works here. Never pressured to buy anything, the athmosphere is always relaxed. So what if there’s no Rambo action figures or holy hand grenades. A good shop is a good shop. Enjoy it.

An adorable little shop located in the ever-improving area of West Reading. We have quite a few little ones to buy for during the holiday, and Hello Bluebird often has a good selection of children’s items. Cool stuff for adults too. Most of the things sold here are unusual and made by local artists.

Loved this shop! It has such cute stuff, and great lotion and candles. My husband even goes in just to smell the candles(though he ends up looking at more stuff) Love it! My only complaint is they are pretty pricey.

By far my favorite store in Reading. Like the other reviewers mentioned, if you like Etsy, you’ll love Hello Bluebird. There’s a great selection of handmade goods including a large selection of jewelry and paper goods. There’s a small back room with quirky and adorable children’s clothing and toys. Also, do not miss the upstairs, which houses additional handmade good and a high quality selection of vintage clothing(women’s and men’s!). I bought a sailor-style blouse and my new favorite journal/sketchbook. On my wish list: grapefruit perfume and the perfectly-packaged french matchboxes. This little boutique is going to make holiday shopping much, much easier.

FYI – The store is as fabulous as ever, and they just expanded to a second floor. With this new space, they added in vintage items, including a great selection of vintage clothes.

Hello Bluebird is fantastic and I am surprised it hasn’t been reviewed yet. I absolutely love this shop! Hello Bluebird carries vintage inspired, handmade goods… things you might find on …including cards, jewelry, baby things, tea towels, soaps, and clothing. I have purchased many handmade block print greeting cards(made with recycled paper, of course) and adorable purses made from vintage fabrics. If you love Etsy, you will love this store. The owner, Alix, is so helpful and friendly… even for advice for trying other stores/businesses in the area. The store also has a gallery where crafters and artists are featured. Check out their blog and website at for a better idea of what they carry.
