The Home Depot

Went to Home Depot on Tuesday and picked up 5 gallons of paint took in a swatch from off my wall so they can give me the right Color that I needed. The man that worked there was named Jim, looked at the swatch I brought in and he said that he would not be able to get anything off of it (he didn’t even try) so he went over to the board where the color sample swatches were and pulled one out and said this is it. I said it looks dark (color honey mist) but he said on a big wall it will look different. I don’t know anything about paint so I left it to the professional. He put the paint in a 5 gal ($ 189) bucket. My walls are almond color, when I got home my son put a patch of paint on the wall. It was Mustard yellow when it dried. NOT A MATCH UP AT ALL. So Thursday I took it back. I went to the paint dept. And told the elderly man behind the counter about jim, the man not using the swatch I brought in on Tuesday and that the color Jim picked was diffidently not the right one. I had taken a picture of my wall to show the difference. The man said, that pictures on your phone doesn’t mean anything. I gave him the swatch I brought in from the first visit, the one Jim couldn’t use.
The man said why didn’t you bring this swatch in the first time? I said I did and Jim told me he couldn’t do it. He took the swatch and dabbed a little paint on it then blowed dried it. He saw that it was darker. I told him I didn’t want a refund just make it lighter. I paid $ 189 for this paint I don’t want to waste it. He took it to a machine and came back and said this is the color Honey Mist, «REALLY» I told him I need it lighter because it was too dark. He got upset and grab a manager .The manager came over and when I told him about Jim, the manager called me a liar and said Jim wouldn’t give you paint without opening it and showing you the paint color. I said well he didn’t and he wouldn’t run the swatch, he didn’t believe me. As he was telling me that I’m stuck with this YELLOW paint the man who still had my swatch handed me a label of the real color I should of had. The Manager told me it was my job to look at the paint and not the professionals job to show it. So now I am stuck with this color. Only if Jim would have done his job right I was treated disrespectfully by Home Depot employees. I am a card member and use them for my business. I am very disappointed in Home Depot.

I went to Home Depot today to pick up a few things for the house. I was in the plumbing section and stopped a gentleman that was walking by. His name is Mike. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable but he was patient and understanding. He knew I was on the right track but I didn’t know all the things that I needed. Mike figured everything out for me and was incredibly nice in the process. Mike went from one item to the next grabbing everything that I needed for my projects. I can’t thank Mike enough I hope he moves up the company latter and becomes store manager one day. Mike is definitely the employee of the month for me!

I have no other reason to write this review other than to try to help this store/​company do better. I would think the manager will lose his mind reading this review. Just trying to help.
Moved here to Wellington, FL about 7 months ago. Decided to buy a grill today and had done some previous online research about the grill I was interested in (much of my research done on the Home Depot website). Went to this store (which is about a mile from my home). Walked in and saw all the grills on display. Saw the model I wanted (a Weber Genesis going for about $ 949). I waited to see if there were any salespeople/​folks who could help me. Waited fifteen minutes while I browsed, looking around to see if there was anyone who could help me. Saw no one. Then, looking for help, I walked down the front of the store, saw a gentleman who was wearing some kind of smock/​uniform. Turned out that he was a vendor selling AC/​HVAC items, but he was knowledgeable and talked to me for a bit– pretty much confirming my choice. Continued to walk around, finally walked back to Appliances, asked again for help, was told they would call someone to meet me by the grill section. Waited again for another ten minutes. Finally, someone came to discuss grills with me. Not very helpful informative, but she finally was able to tell me that if I wanted to buy that grill, that they only had one model assembled, but it was scratched up (which, is the only reason I gave 2 stars– at least I wasn’t sold a damaged good). Was told that I could buy the grill now, but if I wanted it assembled and delivered (which I did), it would be put together next Monday and delivered (only curbside) by Tuesday (a week from purchase to delivery). (Extra charges for delivery curbside, extra charges for crossing thresholds, extra for assembly were also added into the «sales pitch»). Hearing that, I asked, «so, no difference if I buy today, or on next Saturday/​Sunday, to get whatever I buy for delivery next Tuesday?» Right… no difference in price, same wait. So, I decided to drive down the street to Lowes.
Was greeted and helped within three minutes of walking into the store. Bought, on the spot, the same grill– $ 949. Also bought a new propane tank, grill cover, and a grill scrub brush. Delivery– free. Assembly included. No problem with them moving it off the truck and placing it in my backyard. No extra cost for any of this (yes, there was a promotion going on for delivery). Mind you, I am in Black Diamond HOA, all within two miles of either store. Wife asked to buy some patio furniture, so bought another $ 300 worth of merchandise on the same visit. All told, probably $ 1400-​$ 1475 of sales done at Lowe’s over Home Depot based on service and price.
Might be some items here of interest for the management. Sorry, but the service was much worse, the price much higher, and no one seemed to care about my business. So, this time, Lowe’s won my business.

Standing in the lighting department for about six minutes trying to decide which we needed then I went to the service desk and asked for help and he got on the phone (I assume it was to get someone) stood there another 10 minutes nobody showed up. Headed across street to Lowes.

Last night after a TERRIBLE trip to Lowes’ we came right across the street to this Home depot, Mark in the outdoor/​grill dept was top notch wonderful!!! Helped us with information about the grills, sold us one, helped my husband load it up onto the cart, very friendly & all about customer service! We will only shop home depot from now on, they even honored our Lowes’ coupon since the customer service & manager at Lowes were awful, so glad we took our business to this home depot! then my husband pulled his truck up to the front after we checked out & was getting ready to load up our truck with our new grill, patio furniture set & few other items, Jeff came over & took the time to help my husband load the truck, get it all to fit & took our cart back for us. A big thank you to Mark in grill dept & jeff that was outside for making our shopping experience so wonderful & pleasant :)

An incompetent cashier tried sell me a worthless piece of cardboard, a claim ticket for a Nest. He then sent me to the «Customer Service» desk, where 3 employees were attending to one customer (note that I didn’t say, «helping»). I waited for what felt like at least 10 minutes, while 2 other customers queued up behind me. I was not in the mood to give them my business after the clueless cashier and the wait, which didn’t seem like it was going to end anytime soon, so I left.

We purchased our first home about 2 years ago! Home Depot has become a usual stop for us when every weekend. Fulfilling our needs in bathroom repairs, paint for the house (in and out), kitchen repairs, garden and yard maintenance, patio furnisher, water softener needs and even pool maintenance needs. The staff are always more than willing to help, suggest and give tips on how to complete a task and or start and finish any others for that matter. :) Truly awesome!

Needed a sprinkler valve for an 8 zone system. Although you do not carry these, the gentleman who helped me (can’t remember his name but it was around 9am on Saturday ⁵⁄₂₆) sent me to Affron Plumbing. Turns out, that worked out even better because I only needed a part vs the whole valve component.
