The History of the Sloane Ranger Lifestyle

The expression Sloane Ranger also referred to as a Sloane or Sloanie, originated in the 1970’s as a reference to young, upper-​middle class, fashion oriented prepsters living off of Sloane Square in Chelsea. Viewed as the iconic shopping district in London, Sloane Square and its residents thereof became known as the elite yet inclusive.

Lady Diana Princess of Wales was characterized as the original Sloane Ranger. Her effortless yet classic style symbolized the true essence of a Sloane. Today the most recognized Sloane is Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge. She signifies the lifestyle in a sense that is not only classic but modern.
